It was my first time at this Salon and the first thing I have to say is that it is a very beautiful space in All White chic with red accents. The atmosphere definitely feels like you are in for an indulgence. I came in to get Hair Extension Consultation. I've never had it done before. Stephanie, who is the owner, explained the different types of services they provide. She even showed me how her own were done. I was surprised she had hair extensions! I opted to do it the way she had hers done. Luckily, I had brought my clip on hair pieces to show them. They were good quality pieces so they used them for my extensions. The process took about 2 hours and the price was reasonable. Hugo (the hairdresser assigned to me) did such a fantastic job. I was a little uncomfortable holding my head down for so long, but it's part of the process, right? They do offer you something to drink while you are sitting there. I did wish I had a straw because it was hard to drink with my head bent forward. Afterward it took Hugo another 20 minutes to style my hair. That ended up costing me additional which I was not expecting as I was told that he was just doing finishing touches. Because of the additional expense, I didn't have enough for tip. It was a bit awkward for me. I really wish I had somewhere to go that night because I looked really great!!!! I will be coming back to see Stephanie and Hugo for hair maintenance. Next time I will be clear about exactly what I'm paying for so I won't feel embarrassed not having enough to give gratuity. Pay in cash. You will save more. Make sure you have something to read and/or your phone is fully charged because you will be sitting there for awhile. For others who have had terrible experiences here, I am wondering if you were able to go back and talk to Stephanie and her staff. I got a hair cut & a Brazilian Keratin treatment done here a bit more than 3 months ago. I'm still getting compliments by others till this day about how good my hair looks! I remember feeling very nervous coming in since I never cut my hair that short and worried how it would look. Memo did a really great job cutting it..my hair looks fabulous! Wilmar did my keratin treatment and he did such a wonderful job as well. Love this salon! Found them last minute a few days before a company ball! Rosy hooked me up with micro link extensions & Jose Lara with makeup! A complete transformation as you can see I had my head shaved on one side....pixie cut! No one recognizes me lol! All the staff is so friendly! I feel like I've known them forever! Memo is one of the stylists here and I must say as a client of his for the last 28 years that he is one of the best most dedicated and honest stylists around. He will tell you what looks good and what may need some work in order to improve in the best of terms. You pay for what you get which is leaving from Venus feeling and looking fabulous. I was actually shocked to see a review that spoke so negatively of Venus Salon. Let me say that I am not friends with the owner but what I am is a discerning customer that just won't sit in anyone's chair. With that said this is not a budget salon, because these are artists that carry out passionate work. So be prepared because every step i.e. haircut, roots, highlights, treatments has its individual cost. I pay, and not cheaply, whenever I am going to get all of these processes done, but I consider it good value because it is my hair my look which represents me in the business world out there. Rip off and liars! I stopped to ask how much the stylist told me one price. I sat in the chair and once he was done he upcharged me by $90. I refused to pay for it as he should've told me and he was rude. I was telling him through the process that I think my hair is too dark and he wouldn't listen. Don't come here !!! Lots of salons out there and it's ridiculously overpriced. What a terrible experience! Update: the owner offered me a free service but why would I go back if I didn't even get what I wanted to begin with. Also it wasn't only about the cost but I asked for highlights and this is not what I received. So as far as the "budget " review trust me I spend a lot of money on my hair( never been an issue) and don't mind however what I don't appreciate is being lied to about the price and to make matters worse is to not get what I wanted and asked for. Also what you don't realize is my hair is all burnt from the " work" this person did and the awful color he left me with . I am not the type to write bad reviews but this is just out of line. I got my hair done with Alex about 4 months ago. At first I went because I had done my hair before a platinum blonde and it came out nice. I had came back because I wanted to change it up a bit and I was going to celebrate my graduation. I had a couple of ideas in mind I had alight pink highlights in mind with the blonde, but Alex told me it wouldn't look nice after a while so he recommended me to do a light brown on top and the blonde at the bottom. Well, he messed up the first try with bleaching my whole head so the top of my head was orange and the bottom was platinum and I could not leave like that. He then said he had to bleach my head again to make it more brown and he did all in the same day. I was still not satisfied because the brown still had tints of orange. He told me to come back a week later and he would fix it. when I came back he told me to give him an easier job and nothing crazy. I don't understand what was so crazy about it being that he chose the look before. I told him to just do all platinum cause I know he would end up doing it nice. So again, he bleached my hair for more than 20 min. When he took off the cap my hair was so stringy. He started to brush my hair from the top making all that stringy hair come out and so much hair fell out that he had to empty the brush about 3-4 times. When he finished blowdrying it my hair looked nice based on how he styled it. But when I got home my hair felt so thin it was insane. I saw that pieces of my hair had gotten chopped off and in the video you can see how much it's grown. I am honestly NEVER going back there EVER AGAIN! My hair does not feel healthy at all and I feel like I always have to put it up in a pony tail. This was the worst job anyone has ever done. My hair was never damaged like this I would be able to brush my hair and walk before and it was nice and thick it's so upsetting that now I feel like my hair always has to be up in either a bun or pony tail. I went to a hair salon just a couple of days ago for a consultation and they thought I had messed up my own hair and were shocked to find out that a hair stylist did this. read more

So I stopped by because I desperately needed a haircut since I had dry ends which were getting knotted a lot. I only wanted a haircut and I asked for a price. I was told that it would cost $35 including wash and shampoo... after my haircut I was somehow charged 75, when asked what was it for, the receptionist said for the products that they used. Now let me tell you I chopped off my hair and it was little longer than shoulder length which didn't require A LOT product. All he did was used 2 or 3 types of product most likely in a dime amount for each!!! And I told him to straighten my hair which he totally ignored and just dried my hair a little bit which I could have done.... now I didn't feel like arguing because it was most likely first time they opened since COVID so I just let it by... but please ask your customer whether or not they want those extra products on their hair instead of just using them just cause YOU felt like it....you don't know who is allergic to what. Communication is the key. Everyone is struggling during this time and this is not the time to over charge people... be considerate. read more

Found my new hair salon!!!! Every single one of the stylists including the receptionist and assistant were the sweetest EVER! Not to mention, this salon is immaculate and modern. I looked up a new hair colorist because sadly after spending a fortune a week ago at my usual place where I was a client over 5 years I still never got the hair color I wanted and had orange hair even after they attempted to correct it. I walked in for a haircut and what a disappointment. The front desk was not accomadating at all in regards of telling me if I can get a haircut or not. I told her that memo cut my hair before and asked her if he was available. And she tells me to just go up to him. I could see that he was with another client so going right up to him while at work was pretty awkward and to even be put in that situation shows a lack of professionalism here. I asked memo if he can cut my hair and he gave me a mere expressionless nod and that was it. I had no input or direction in regards of if I should wait or have my hair washed, nothing. There is definitely a language barrier but even still, you can feel when the level of service in accomadating to their returning clients is nonexistent. So I just waited on the couch for 20 min while he was blow drying the same client's hair until someone came in for his services. Given the fact that I came in first, the person and memo talked in Spanish and they were ushered into the hairwashing chair. So I decided to walk out and of course he didn't stop me and the front desk lady was preoccupied with talking to someone else I don't even think she even noticed I was leaving. Way to make someone feel nonexistent. They also give me vibes that they're slightly racist from this experience and what I'm about to share down below. My first haircut was with memo and I do have to admit he did cut my hair to my satisfaction that day. The only strange thing was he said he had received a gift from a friend and while he was cutting my hair he took it out and put it on his head. This thing he put on his head was one of those costume looking Chinese red caps that had fake black long braided extensions attached to it. He wore it laughing looking at me for some type of reaction. I don't know if he was trying to be funny or trying to make a connection with me because I'm Asian but to me it came off very insulting. I masked the fact I was offended and just brushed it off because I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. The staff is all completely Colombian. Even the owner is Colombian. The guys in here are amazing. Alex did my hair and I came in with an idea but of course he's the expert so he guided me based on my skin tone and the color I already in my hair and we ended up with something completely different from what I had in mind which I was ok with and I absolutely loved it. I definitely be coming back to this place. They are so nice and offered me coffee and water and they were just so polite and I felt like I already knew Alex my entire life lol. I'd give it a zero if I could. I came here to get layers cut into my hair. I already had them, just needed a little trim to reshape them. A lady named "Emma" cut my hair. The way she used her scissors gave me split ends all throughout my hair. Never saw someone use a pair of scissors like that before. And if that wasn't already bad enough, my hair was cut so uneven. So I went back for her to fix it. I just needed to trim the left side a little bit for which she told the other lady to wet my entire head of hair(which they don't even blow dry fully just the front pieces). After that, she kept cutting my entire head of hair making it shorter than it already was. I continuously told her to stop cutting stop cutting and all she said was "no mami no mami" as if she knew what she was doing. After she "finished" I checked to see if my hair was equal again and as no surprise to me, IT WASN'T. So once I told her to just cut the left side AGAIN, she cut off a whole inch like wtf. Never have I ever paid so much money to look SO bad. NEVER going back. This was really sad, cause I had great expectations about this salon and it happen to be a disaster.. The hairdresser did not understood what I wanted and went way beyond.. the wrong way though. Bleached my hair entirely, I had to cut it cause I looked terrible, like I poured a bottle of peroxide in my bathroom. He didnt even use a toner to help that horrible yellow come down, he suggested I buy the toner and do it my self. I felt they were rushing cause they were closing. Never will I go back, I am NOT a cheap customer, I pay what I have to if the service and quality is great, Im also very loyal. If Im happy with your service I will come back FOR EVER, my eyesbrows lady has been the same for over 7 years but I tell you, those 300 dollars I paid at this salon... hurt cause I looked really terrible.. The very next day I went to Duane reade bought a box of hair color and dyed my hair my self. What a waist of money and more importantly time! Never going back. read more
