Disappointed in the service given their great reputation. I got a gel x manicure for my grad pics and not only were they really expensive, they were not done well. She did no cuticle prep at all, she didn't clean up the excess chrome on the side of my fingers, and there was a ridiculous amount of gel left under my nails. There was so much gel that when I got home I used my nail drill to take off the bulk of it. They also started lifting after less than a week and fell off within 10 days. There were also deep grooves in my nail beds aka rings of fire. For paying $70 + tip for a service I expect it to feel like a $70 service and it did not. If you're thinking about getting your nails done here just be ready to argue and be scammed at the end somehow. First, I came in and it was empty so I assumed it would be quick and easy. The service was fast, but the lady doing my nails was rude. Since she tried to charge me $10 for regular length, said she'd give me a discount because I spoke up about it, then up charged me once it got time to paying. She'd also toss my hands throughout because she was upset somehow. I left a tip, since her attitude is not a reflection of my character. She is an extremely skilled nail technician who is attentive to detail and takes time to ensure a flawless result. Came in for mani- pedi: The pedicure menu I chose said foot soak(water cold) and nothing like Epson salts ever was added. The massage did not include my feet just calves and the hot towel wrap doesn't exist. She only cut nails on one foot and callus removal (what a joke) . I was not spoken to and when it was done I questioned the polish and she was very rude. Told me go to 15 for manicure . I paid and left. I would rate zero if I could. My nail tech Thi Thuy Dang Vo did an absolutely horrible job and had an even more off putting attitude. I asked for french ombre with chrome and I left 2.5 hours later with lumpy pink nails, no ombré, no chrome, just normal dip nails. I also had to practically beg her to at least even them out and fix the shape. They were also longer than I wanted but I was scared to even say anything about that, because when I mentioned the shape being a little off she literally threw me the file to do it myself, then only let me do my left middle finger (the only one that looks somewhat decent) before she took the file back to "fix the rest". Mind you she ended up charging me for a "dip and tip"- $46 AND an additional $10 as a "long nail fee". These are not only longer than I wanted them, but they're also not long enough to warrant an extra fee in my opinion. Multiple other techs came by and looked at what she was doing and you could tell they knew they looked bad too, but none of them offered to help her or if they did she said no, I don't know because they weren't speaking English. I left with nails that I could have done better at home- that I literally will be fixing myself at home, and that I was visibly unhappy with. I honestly wish I had it in me to have just walked out without paying, but I will never be back to this place again, and I don't know how Miss Vo got her license in the first place if she doesn't know how to evenly apply dip powder or shape nails. I'm honestly disgusted with this service and I hate my nails... I want to cry because these are my nails for graduation too. Yes saying I hate them might be a little dramatic, but they don't look good. I included a picture of what I wanted, what I got, and what my nails have looked like other times that I got them done professionally because Thi Thuy Dang Vo tried to blame the bad shape on me by saying, "well you also just have big nails you know." I'll update this review later/tomorrow when I fix them myself if it lets me, but save your time and money by going somewhere else, or at least not seeing Thi. -Update 05/08 I went to The Nail Spa by Bass Pro in celebration pointe the next day to get these fixed but I'm just now getting to update this because of graduation chaos. Anna is the nail tech I saw there and she is AMAZING. Not only did she fix these and give me exactly what I wanted in less than an hour, but she also only charged me $25 because she felt bad about what I went through here. Have been going here for YEARS and always take friends and family too. Just went there again yesterday and it reminded me that I've never left a review. They have excellent customer service, have always taken great care of us for manis and pedis especially love the collagen pedi for moisturizer. Great for all ages. My preteen daughter loves getting pedis there and getting leg massages not just pretty nails. Place is always clean and smells good too which I can't say about all nail salons. read more

I stumbled across this place because I live nearby. My boyfriend and I decided to pop in. He got a pedicure and I got a manicure. They were able to take us in immediately. I showed my nail tech what I wanted which was a classic manicure with really thin French tips. At first she made them thicker but she kindly asked if it was the correct thickness of the tip. I told her more thin and this was the outcome. I think she could have curved tips a bit more but overall super happy with them. read more

Worst nail job I've ever had! To begin, the gel dip powders do not match the nail samples offered. The tech I had must not have any experience doing acrylic/gel nails and completely botched my nails (filing is inconsistent; the thickness of the gel nail is so big, they look like balloons; and the paint job is sloppy). Editing my review: after posting on Google and Yelp, I finally received an email back and got a full refund for this. Thank you, Venus! I had an appointment for a regular manicure and pedicure. Upon entry and sitting, I was never given the option or asked to pick my color and had to ask for the key ring of options. My heels were barely exfoliated or buffed, with extra attention to one foot and nearly none on the other. My toenail polish is clumpy with many spots missed, though it was one simple color. Then my nightmare manicure started. 3 cuticles were severely bleeding and again, my polish was clumpy, uneven, with missed spots. The woman bumped my finger that I did not move and messed up the polish and scoffed at me as if it was my fault. She painted 5 layers of polish over it until I asked her to redo that nail so it wouldn't be so thick. Two of my cuticles bled for two days every time I washed my hands and I had to keep a bandaid on them! Less than 4 days later, my manicure looks 2 weeks old / grown out / chipped and my cuticles are still incredibly sore. I took photos and emailed the owners 3 times with no response. Incredibly disappointed. I have had better nail jobs done by 8 year olds I babysit. I have NO IDEA how this place has so many great reviews!! read more

I have been going to Venus for convenience because they are nearby home, it's clean and have a very large numbers of associates so you usually get serbice anytime even without appointment. However the service quality really depends on who you get and since I change each time it has gone from good to terrible. my last one was a disaster: rushed service, over cutting cuticles and skin around the nails and my polish cracked pretty much the same day and was all peeled of by day 3. Because they are pricier than average I was not happy. I don't think I'll go again. read more

They work hard to do a good job here! We have been coming here since they opened over 4 years ago and they know my mom, my sisters and our puppies by name! We can call at 5:30 for a 6 PM appointment and they will even stay late to finish all of us. I love the way they do my pink and whites and you can choose which shade of pink you want. My mom and sisters get the gel nails and they swear by them because they don't chip like regular nail polish does! They do sterilize everything in their store, unlike what another user posted. Also, there can be a little bit of a wait for walk-ins but they are between a frozen yogurt store and a coffee shop, so you can always entertain yourself while you wait. read more

I'm embarrassed with how childish they look. My fingers are hurting because of how thick and terrible of a job this was. The nail technician (Kenny) was very sweet but he obviously had no experience. Sloppy and messy job. No filing, no shaping, uneven color, the nails were glued to my skin, the shine came off on my way home. I previously rated this salon 4 stars, three years later it has been renovated and is gorgeous. I have to admit I'm terrible with making appointments, thankfully there are plenty of workstations now to accommodate. This is definitely one of the best nail salons in Gainesville. There is WiFi and usually parking right out front. They have a large selection of gel polishes as well as regular. I have used several nail techs and they all have been good, except for a few occasions when they didn't polish all the way to the cuticle. Besides that I have to say if you are near Haile Plantation you should definitely give them a try. read more
