They were invisible, but there... and never too far to address questions and allow us to feel cozy and well-cared for. Originally wanted to be closer to the beach, but we don't regret our choice for Casita Gundry. There's great cafes and breweries to walk to and we were able to drive to the ocean in only 15 minutes. The cottage is small (as disclaimed), but Casita Gundry is well-appointed and stocked with everything we needed. The hosts go above and beyond to provide so many extras and little touches that give guests a warm welcome. There is only one wall air conditioner/heater, but it's effective in making the small guest house comfortable. The beautiful private patio and front terrace are the only areas to socialize and eat, but you can't beat great Cali weather!

She highly recommended that I try G Adventures, a company that provides small group tours all over the world. I went for it and booked their 10-day Japan tour. Carol worked seamlessly with G Adventures to be sure my flight & transfer was organized and also helped connect me with a travel insurance company to be sure I had everything I needed. The tour included a two night stay with a local family in Hagi, Japan. It was a brilliant way to be fully absorbed into the Japanese culture. He took advantage of 4 young women by stealing our deposit, showing up INSIDE our home with no notice and while we were not there, and verbally abused us by yelling at us and calling us names because we stood up to him to get our deposit back. We found a machete in his garage and he lied and said there was dishwasher but it was completely broken and refused to fix it. If we could give negative 5 stars, we would. I took lots of pics of the complimentary breakfast, which is served daily from 6:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. They served eggs, breakfast sandwiches, sausage patties, yogurt, scones, fresh oranges, muffins, cereal, bagels and English muffins, oatmeal, coffee, and three types of juices. This hotel was a bit noisy…read more When we first arrived, it looked like there was a party forming of about 50 people and some were even blasting their car stereo in the parking lot, not a good look. At about 930pm, we called the front desk and they said they are trying to get the party to wrap up, which to their credit, they did! So I do think they do a good job with that here, and there was even a security guard checking the cars to make sure the cars were actually guests. Luckily, it seemed like the partygoers were not spending the night here, or maybe just a few of them had rooms. Despite this, later at night, I could hear people talking outside in the corridors as they went to and from their cars. This is just normal for the layout of the place I guess. The room itself was quite nice and clean as well as up to date, with a full kitchen. The bathroom was very clean and the air conditioning worked well. Some family members swam in the pool and used the hot tub and they said it was nice and they felt safe. The included free breakfast was decent, not quite as good as Homewood Suites, but about the same. This location is very close to the Long Beach airport (about 2 miles) so quite convenient for traveling. I believe they even have a park and fly program where you can leave your car in the parking lot here while traveling. So I would probably stay here again, but am not rushing to do so.
