If a ten star rating was an option, the Townhouse would top my top ten! I've been blessed to live…read morehere for a glorious month and I simply can't adequately describe how wonderful it's been. Disneyland has stiff competition for the proverbial happiest place on Earth. "Life in a cruise ship on land!" just might come close. Three meals daily served in either the large lovely dining room, delightful outdoor settings, your own apartment or "to go" include numerous menu choices for every meal. No paper tablecloths or napkins allowed, only crisp white linens and gorgeous fresh flowers on every table. For example, today's lunch options offered three delightful soups; assorted greens garden salad; fresh fruit salad; chicken and cheese casserole with roasted cauliflower; breaded baked pork chops in a creamy herbed sauce, OR a delightful vegetarian option. The dessert options are, unfortunately, far too delicious, plentiful and include six varieties of ice cream. Baked potatoes and wine or beer are offered daily after 4:00 pm. And speaking of "after 4:00 pm"?, this place LOVES to parTEE! Whether the every-Wednesday afternoon wine & cheese social, a holiday or even a pseudo-holiday, they roll up the carpets, tune up live band performances and dance the night (well, actually only the afternoon) away! After all, this IS a senior living center. There is also fantastic entertainment daily, including soloists or duos or small bands, and usually the first sound you'll hear when entering the lobby is the ivories' tinkling from the foyer grand piano. There are seemingly endless activities daily from cards to games and just about everything in between; group outings to the beach or museums or local attractions, and individual transportation in the Townhouse limo or van is almost always available. Just call ahead for a ride to medical appointments, church service, shopping trips, or whatever your heart's desire within Ventura. "Whatever your heart's desire" is made possible by the truly amazing, wonderful staff members you'll encounter everywhere. Often unobtrusive, one or more seem to pop up at your (virtual) first thought and they really seem to enjoy serving us all as much as we enjoy having them. Very open, friendly and generous, always eager to offer suggestions and ideas! Have I forgotten anything? Whoops, the barber shop or hair salon....manicurist/pedicurist .....loaded gym equipment in the basement area, or fantastic ocean and mountain views from the top, seventh floor group function areas and spacious balconies ? If I have, I'll try to take some photos next time. "Next time" ?? only if I'm not permanently banned from reviewing this awesome place and experience. The Ventura Townhouse IS both.

Boy, was I wrong. I agree with Bob F. and he wrote his review 7 years ago. The administration, especially Evan and Johnathon, tell you what you want to hear. I just found out that Johnathon is the owner's son, so that really tells you they don't care. If you do not have an advocate checking on your loved one, you had better get one. My dad was in memory care due to his Parkinson's. James, who runs Memory Care, and his staff try their best to help when problems come up, but they are extremely understaffed. When I went to Evan and Johnathon to complain about it a few times I got nowhere. I even told Evan he should go help change briefs as that is what James does to help out. My dad passed away 3 weeks ago and I have yet to get a call, card, or any condolence from the Townehouse. The staff at Memory Care showed our family much sympathy, but to get nothing from the Townehouse management is an utter disgrace.

I have been here for the last six months and find the staff is very caring and willing to do everything we can to get you rehabilitated. The rehabilitation staff and the wound care staff are great teams that work together very well. Rehabilitation here is well-rounded by a cohesive team of well-trained and experienced therapist. Everybody at Santa Paula just wanted to go home, and I was no exception. The facility was a bit drab and dreary, as many of these places tend to be..."the nature of the beast" as they say. Although the Activity Department made a valiant attempt at keeping people occupied and busy with Bingo, movies, art and other games, Santa Paula Post Acute was still not "home." Residents were cared for on a day-to-day basis by CNAs (Certified Nurses' Assistants). There were also nurses (LVNs and RNs) who oversaw the passing of medications to patients, among other duties. Several nurses were also employed in the facility's various offices. During the years I was there, Santa Paula Post Acute did not have a very strong administration, which tended to lead to chaos and upsetting results in the running of the facility. I hope things are better there now! Santa Paula Post Acute is located at 250 March Street in Santa Paula.

The medical staff is very patient and caring to her needs. The dietary program exceeds our expectations. There are daily activities for her to participate from Bingo to Karaoke. Of course there is no place like home, but there are circumstances where the family can no longer meet the needs and 24 hour trained staff is needed. Very compassionate staff.

Eugene is great at communicating with me to find out exactly where the issues are (they tend to move and shift and change a bit week-to-week), and targeting them directly. And although I've had some previous PT, the level of attentiveness that Margo shows when working on the actual exercise routine is beyond what I've had in the past. Margo makes the difficult stuff tolerable, she is solid in her knowledge of what needs to be accomplished, and she has always seemed like a champion of my progress. On top of all that, the office staff is super friendly and helpful, I can't even guess how many times Joanna has helped me with scheduling or billing or providing me with paperwork my insurance company requests.
