    Boat ride from Moon Palace
    Edna G.

If you have all day to spare, Ventura Park is part of the credits we received at Moon Palace resort for $100 USD. I believe you can also purchase this from other resorts. I would think this is a great choice to use since it's a water park; great for kids! Our ride there was by boat for a half an hour. Make sure to wear sunblock before getting on as even if the sun is not out or it's cloudy, you will tan! I got hella dark!! Here are some of my opinions: Pros - they pick you up to arrive when park opens at 10a so you get first dibs on the rides - zip lining as much as you want - unlimited food and drinks; including alcohol - transportation included - staff friendly and helpful even if they had a hard time speaking English. - lost of plans under the shade to use. Cons - I think the time they pick you up to go there 9:20a and pick you up for drop off (4:30p) is too long. - have to pay for towels, locker and ice cream! - towels and locker rentals are expensive - Sunrise restaurant food is not good or food really has no flavor. (They do change the lunch food to early dinner but I would rather get bk to our resort inclusive food to eat. I brought snacks just in case; glad I did! - some rides were closed - some of the pools were not as clean or filtered as she thought it would be. We didn't rent lockers since we took turns watching our stuff. We did rent a few towels to share and if you return it, you get $3 back. Go here during the weekday and no summers to avoid crowds! All in all, all the kids and adults had fun especially in the wave pool! Worth it if the kids love water, slides, and ziplining! [46/100]

3 1/2 stars! I went to Ventura Park around 1015am on a Friday and the park wasn't packed which I was very happy about. The lifeguards were nice and offered to help us take pictures. There were about 4 water slides I believe. I went on all of them. I also went zip lining. I was disappointed that when I went they said a lot of things were not working. The only roller coaster was not working and the virtual Star Wars game was not working. They mentioned that we could do the race card but that wasn't in our agenda for this trip. Race cars are fun with more people. The plants and the view of the ocean were pretty spectacular! I saw a lot of lizards/ geckos while I was there. I would recommend anyone to visit and check it out for yourself.

Be very careful when renting lockers here. See photo below. Someone was stocking us while we were renting locker and recorded the number we entered. Those numbers are so huge. Got 3 backpack stolen that day. Was horrible. We were able to watch surveillance tape and saw the whole thing happened. By the time the police arrive, the park closed and our bus was already there to pick us up. Luckily nothing too important in locker. Did loose an IPhone and some $$. Be very careful when entering number and maybe not leave anything important in locker. I want to make sure to wArn everyone that this is happening and don't let yourself become a victim.

Check the prices before you get overcharged by your tour company!

There is SO much to do that you genuinely can't fit it all in one day--underground rivers, beaches, snorkeling spots, wildlife exhibits, and cultural experiences throughout the park. Everything is beautifully maintained, super clean, and very well organized. The staff was helpful from start to finish, and the whole place felt safe and easy to navigate. Food options were plentiful with something for everyone, and it was a huge plus that meals were included. There's also plenty of parking (we didn't have to pay), which made getting there stress-free. A few helpful tips: * Bring water shoes - you'll thank yourself in the rivers * Bring a waterproof phone pouch - must-have for photos * You'll need to sign a waiver at the start * You'll receive a wristband + locker key with a chip (included, no extra charge--just don't lose it!) * There are plenty of showers and changing areas, plus parking within the park Be prepared--there is a LOT of walking, so wear comfortable shoes and pace yourself. Overall, this place is a must-do if you're visiting Mexico. It's the perfect mix of adventure, nature, and culture all in one unforgettable experience.

We actually had to request another room because our first room was just so disappointing. It smell funky when we arrived, felt humid and the AC was off. There was no face towel, no hand towel, no feet towel, only 2 towels and it was four of us, no iron, no cabinets, no iron board. The bathtub was disgusting, it looked like it had been broken, glued back together and painted on top. It was an overall mess. And the "beach view" was not worth it. Then we were "upgraded" to a "junior suite". If this is the best they can give than the hotel needs to update a lot. They had tube tvs. Like we are in the 21st century. At least this room had what we needed. The bathroom was still disappointing. It was really plain and nothing "wow". The bed felt not clean. We were very disappointed. The food was ok. Sometimes it was cold when it was cooked food. The playroom had four tables to play with. Two of them were broken. The pool had rust and some corners were chipped away. It did not look appealing. The "free" wifi was not always available even if you were at the lobby. The hotel had nothing more to offer that we were bored most of the nights after dinner. It was very boring. The kids were bored. It's not worth your hard earned money for a vacation. It's falling apart. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. I wasted my money on this vacation. So disappointed.

Quick tip for anyone going: when you walk out of the port and head to the taxi line, don't just jump into the first one. Our first driver tried to upcharge us quite a bit. We kept walking and were able to negotiate. I had heard it's usually around $15 per ride (not per person), but we ended up paying $20 -- and honestly it's a bit of a drive, so I get it. Also... those taxi drivers drive like we're in GTA. Once we arrived, the vibe was totally peaceful. Yes, the chairs are fairly close together (similar setup to Mr. Sanchos), but Paradise Beach felt much calmer and less of a party scene, which we really appreciated. The food and drinks were actually really good for an all-inclusive beach club. We tried quite a few things: * Nachos * Quesadillas * Blue cheese burger * Grilled shrimp * Coconut shrimp * Grilled mahi tacos -- which were the highlight The beach was nice, the pool was great, and you basically pick your "home base" (pool or beach) so your waiter knows where to find you for food and drinks. A few other things worth noting: Great bathrooms and changing rooms Lockers available (extra fee) Inflatable water park for kids (extra fee) Paddleboards and snorkeling (extra fee) Would I go again? Yes.

We…read moredidn't book an excursion through the cruise line but found a great option right at the pier before reaching the Cozumel sign. A gentleman had a booth for Playa Mia. You can purchase the $15 day pass to access the beach. There was another package that included food, but it seemed unnecessary since we didn't plan on staying too long. My goal was getting a spot where the kids can play with sand. The weather had been iffy too. It was raining on the taxi ride there, but thankfully it let up by the time we walked to the beach area. Once we arrived, we did have to pay $6 for an umbrella to use with our beach chairs. The umbrella kept closing so we had to get somebody to keep opening it back up. Finally, they told us they had to close the beach umbrellas for 30 minutes due to the wind that was coming. That was my sign to leave since it had already poured on our way there. The bathrooms are located to the left of the open buffet area. They have a feet washing area in front of the bathroom. There are two entrances. The left is for the toilets and the right is for the showers. Inside the shower area they have the baby change table. The beach area itself was clean and well maintained. Once you get there, keep going all the way inside. There were will be stores and excursions you can purchase. The ticket area to show you paid and to get your wristband will be on the left. We purchased a sand bucket that came with a toy from a store there for $10. They offer fun inflatables in the water for the older kids and banana boat rides. We apparently had a server who was helping our area. The gentleman who served us was friendly and attentive. My little one was thrilled to have chicken wings. We asked for the sauce on the side and the wings were crispy. We also tried the fajitas and they were pretty good. The salsa had a nice kick. I would definitely skip on the bean and cheese nachos! Overall, it was a great, affordable way to enjoy some time at the beach without committing to a full day excursion. I'd recommend this for anyone looking for a low-key, budget-friendly beach day with the kids.

I want to caveat this review straight away - we visited on a pretty quiet day. We came in on a…read moreDisney cruise and I checked before booking and only 1 other cruise ship was in port on the day we visited and that ship was a more adult oriented cruise line. Because of that I was fairly confident Playa Mia would not be overly full and I turned out to be correct. After doing some research before going there are other offerings that are better for pure adult visitors and Playa Mia strikes a good middle ground for everyone. We picked this beach park because it was the only one that didn't nickel-and-dime you on every little add-on: for example the obstacle course/water park is included with the all-inclusive package we bought. As I mentioned, we did get the all-inclusive package including travel. Some of the other guests were not on all-inclusive visit and most opted for their own travel. Having already been once, next time I may handle travel myself as I am an experienced traveler and the taxi's were very friendly, however with a young one in tow I must say the friendliness and helpfulness of the people who met us and arranged our travel in both directions was amazing and I absolutely do not regret paying a little extra for the included travel. Ultimately they did just put us in a taxi that they paid for but they met us super close to the boat exit and walked us all the way to the taxi stand and dealt with telling him where to go, etc. That was nice while we dealt with our hyped up kids in a new environment. I can't speak to the non all-inclusive experience but if you don't plan to drink a lot (including water/soft drinks for the kids) I think it can be a bargain. However, with the full package we bought, the only thing I ended up paying for was a deposit on the towels that we ultimately got back. I did tip our server (Alberto was awesome) decently well because of how much work he did during the almost full day we were there - so tipping is an additional expense that happens in any kind of place like this. One note, I did go for the top level all-inclusive package and with that the adults got a Tequila tasting and the kids got a chocolate tasting. Obviously the intent of these is to sell some goods but don't skip out on these if you get them - both tastings were delicious and even though we never buy anything at these things, in retrospect we still wish we had picked up some coffee Tequila. Because the day we visited wasn't super crowded, we had such a great time. The facilities are on the older side and the landscaping isn't perfectly manicured but it's on a beautiful beach and there was at least a little something for everyone: from 5 years old to 40. If it were considerably busier, that might pose an issue but they have a lot of room for people to spread out so except for the buffet being busy, I think it would take a lot of people for it to ruin your day.

Vendors tried to sell us tickets again but we ended up walking up to the booth and a guy came by to help us. We were able to bargain the price a bit. He handed us to another man who lead us to the beach lounge chair area. We brough our own gear and we were able to get free life vest (they keep your id until you return it). The ocean is so salty so we were super bouyant. You wouldn't even need the jacket. There were fish but not a big variety and they were clustered in sereval spots. Water is clear but overall same same most of the area. So don't expect much in terms of snorkeling. Water temp is nice in beginning of April. Shower and bathrooms were clean. Botanical garden is like a small forest with some trees. No flowers. I spotted a big iguana. Sea lion show was short and entertaining. All in all a good way to spend several hours off the ship. Linda's snack bar- We were lead to this area by the man at the entrance. Apparently there are several food stalls and where you end up sitting is where you end up eating/drinking. Server was super attentive and kept coming by to ask if we wanted to order more. Lots of chairs and hut like umbrellas for shade. Their hammocks as located set back from the beachfront by the restrooms. There are outdoor showers. At the beach you can walk down the stairs to the corals and snorkel. We ordered: Beef tacos: carne was much better than the place in costa maya. Beef nachos: 5/5 big portions, chips piled high with real melted cheese (not nacho cheese), beans, guacamole and meat. Very good! Chicken nachos: 5/5 just like above but with diced chicken. Several buckets of beers: comes with a plate of chips and salsa. Other alcohol.

Thankfully, they got us in at 10:20 (which actually took place closer to 10:40, so we were relieved. The Manatee experience was great for what it was. We learned that of the 4-5 manatees there, only one is a rescue, which is disappointing. Our instructor, a woman (don't remember her name) was soooo sweet. I felt like we spent a great amount of time with Edgar, the manatee. We pet, fed, swam with, and kissed him. I'd say it was well worth the price but them forcing you to pose and repose in an effort to sell the $75 photo package was crazy. No phones allowed. They mislead you into paying $14 to rent a raggedy, dirty locker, but when you get to the encounter area, you see there are free boxes for your belongings. After, we grabbed food and headed to explore the park and this is where things went downhill. The service in the food areas immediately by the encounter area was okay: rice (undercooked and more bland than you'd expect), two "charcuterie" options, fruit (not quite ripe or sweet enough (no mango), tortilla chips, refried beans (these were good and I don't like refried beans normally), salsa, corn tortillas, Mexican pork, and fish ceviche (actually not bad). To be included, it wasn't bad, but had I paid extra for food, I'd be underwhelmed. The service at the eating spots was good. Very attentive. Drinks were also included and avail in eating area. I stuck with the Blue Lagoon (sprite, vodka and blueberry). It was tasty but weak... UNTIL I got to the pool. HUGE SHOUTOUT to Jonathan at the pool bar who actually brought some life and vibes to the pool and whole damn park. Jonathan made the day great. He was a fantastic bartender!!! Now, for the rest of the park: wow, this place has gone downhill. I don't know if they got hit by a storm or what but the amenities are in bad shape. Have of the walkway area is not accessible and they've moved statues and photo opp spots to weird places. The lagoon looked crazy AF. The beach and snorkeling area was very laughable. It's covered in sargassum and rock and is tiny. What's worse: you have to "consume something" from a private and aggressive vendor (not included) to sit in the chairs at the tiny beach. It's this same vendor who provides the high-pressure tequila tasting. Snorkeling gear was another add-on. Ohhh, and no towels are included. You rent those, too. Honestly, outside of the encounters and pool bar, this place sucksss. Do your encounter, grab a couple drinks, then dip. Or... go to KUZA.
