History
Established in 2009.
After working as a Pet Trainer for many years at a couple of big box stores, I set out on my own as a sole proprietor of my new business. My original focus was on helping people with aggressive and reactive dogs as I had quite a bit of experience with problem dogs. My first few years on my own my practice was solely in home private training and day training.
In 2011 I formed a business relationship with Regency Kennels in Belleville and began holding group training classes there. In the beginning the classes included; Puppy , Basic, CGC Prep, and Agility.
In the summer of 2012, I discovered K9 Nose Work. I attended a seminar in Garden City and met Angie Falcsik, Michigan's first CNWI. While taking my dogs through Angie's classes, I also enrolled in the National Association of Canine Scent Work's Instructor training program. I found my passion. Nose Work is a great activity for any dog to participate, outgoing, reactive, shy, or fearful. Now my class roster is full of Nose Work
Meet the Business Owner: Venita B.
I have been an animal advocate for many years now. All of the dogs that I have in my home are rescues. My 12.5 year old Husky was given to me eleven years ago when her owner was moving from a house to an apartment that did not accept pets. My 7 year old, mixed breed dog came to live with me after he was in a terrible fight with another dog in his household three years ago. My youngest, a 3 year old GSD became mine when her owner passed away. I have rescued dogs off the streets of Detroit and Southeast Michigan. I have been a volunteer with such organizations as HSHV, WAG, and Therapy Dogs International.
Before I began my professional career as a Dog Trainer, I was a substitute teacher for the Dearborn Public Schools and a Preschool teacher at Kindercare. I was a Sunday School Teacher at Jefferson Ave Presbyterian Church for fifteen years.
When my children were in school, I was always supplementing their studies with enrichment activities. I have been a teacher for most of my life.
