When my wife and I were fostering dogs in Michigan, she fell in love with a Miniature Pinscher mix named Obi. He was different from any dog I'd trained before, and without other dogs to help with training, it was a challenge. We needed Obi to be able to travel the world with us and assist my wife with her PTSD. Within six weeks, Fred from The Dog Wizard trained us on how to make Obi an incredible companion. The transformation was night and day. Now, Obi walks calmly by our side unless given the 'free' command. He accompanies us to stores, ignoring everything and everyone around him. One of his biggest issues was reacting to other dogs on leash--no longer a problem! Recently, we visited a crowded cider mill with hundreds of kids running around. Also, the behavior of one dog and how the owner handled that dog made me not want to return. I got to the point at one class I almost excused myself and my dog due to the treatment of the owner. As it is not the facility's fault or responsibility to control the dog, they should have excuses him and had him join another class such as an obedience class. To have him continue to come each week when the dog is over-active, disobedient, and the owner has to force the dog to the floor is unacceptable. The dog was screamed at, grabbed, and forced down to the ground. We al discipline our dogs differently, but this made me very uncomfortable. They were very nice trainers, but for me, I choose to go elsewhere.

Our dogs were baseline trained before we started going to Custom K9 and now are very well trained with the plus of off leash obedience. When I arrived at the grooming salon, a young woman at the desk asked me for proof of his rabies vaccine. She didn't introduce herself or wear a name tag. She walked around the desk, put a lead around Bear's neck, then stooped down and grabbed his tail. She didn't speak to him or even extend her hand for him to sniff. She started pulling hair from his matted tail, saying "this will have to be shaved". She stood quickly and said "I can't groom your dog, he bit me. You'll have to take him somewhere else." I apologized and asked if she was okay, but she had disappeared into the salon. I didn't see the bite occur, or the wound, but I honestly don't believe he ever would have done that, if she had made any attempt whatsoever to be friendly with him. I'm shocked that someone who works with pets daily, could have so little knowledge of animal behavior. Based on this experience, I won't return to the store and certainly do not recommend the grooming service at PetSmart's Bloomfield location. There are so many better options available.

She…read moreloves animals, her technique is positive reinforcement and she's a good trainer to the humans too! Her agility classes are so fun for the dogs and humans! Her space is comfortable, safe for the dogs and perfectly located downtown Ply. Judy also does 1-1 and home trainings too. She helped get us started with our rescue pup who was afraid of the sound of her own breathing. Judy taught us some key skills which included changing some of our habits in our house. With any animal that had an unknown or came from an abusive previous home, it takes time to help build trust and change some of the behaviors of the animal. With Judy's guidance and our diligence over the last few years to creating a safe and learning environment for our pup, she's a happy, loving, brave and mostly non-reactive dog. There's always skills we need to bring back into our rotation but it's all thanks to Judy to help us along the way. We've recommended her to many people and my mom is active in classes with her new puppy.
