I only go to positive trainers because fear based training not only doesn't work in the long run, but can make your dog more likely to bite out of fear without warning. Roz's education on all things training, especially working with fearful dogs, is top notch. Roz is always seeking out seminars, articles, and other scholarly work to improve her skills. She has a true love for the sport of dog fancy. Wally's agility skills and attention have come a long way in 9 weeks, and my skills at handling have improved too. Roz provides honest feedback in a direct manner that make it easy to understand the mistakes you're making. The structure of Roz's class is great. She teaches all of the obstacles in a logical order. The trick training she provides at the beginning of each class work on your dogs attention, as well as building your dogs body awareness, and muscles needed to do dog sports safely. The content of the class is personalized for each training pair, making sure adjustments are made for the dogs' sizes or abilities. You

We have been coming here for agility and dog training for over a year…read more After trying over five different training facilities, we are ecstatic that we have finally found a superb trainer who is friendly, attentive, and enthusiastic. It is a joy to come to every class and never fail to either learn something new or become better at a previous trick. We had a very hard time simply teaching our Havanese to "stay" and during Rockin' Relationship which is an ongoing training session to increase your personal relationship with your dog. The trainer was constantly recommending different methods to help train our dog. When she introduced us to platform training, it was like a god send. Our dog finally learned to stay and passed her canine good citizen exam. In fact every dog in that class passed that exam. Roz believes if you have a positive relationship with your dog, your dog will want to be with you and do what you ask instead of command, which greatly helped with our dog who never listened to commands. We learned to reward good behavior and simply ignore the bad. It works. We highly recommend MyHero Dog Training to everyone with a dog. She is exceptionally tolerant of all dogs, even dogs that are fear reactive whom most trainers are not qualified to help train.

Bonnie is absolutely fantastic! She tailors her approach to each dog and its owner to ensure the two connect and communicate effectively with each other, which makes ALL the difference in training. I've taking a number of training courses with my dog and worked with various trainers, but this is the first time I've felt there's a fantastic balance between instructing the dog and instructing the human. Oftentimes a trainer excels in one and may lack in the other, but Bonnie and Alternative Canine Training excel at both, which helps owner and dog work better as a team. I highly recommend these courses and these trainers to anyone with a dog, no matter if it's a puppy ready to kick off obedience training or an adult dog that could use a brush up. And added bonus is that the class takes place in a pet store, which may be a little frustrating at first since there's a ton of distractions that your dog is working against, but stick with it and your dog will not only learn how to focus through all those distractions but obedience at home without them will be a cake walk. I highly recommend!

Back when I lived on a 40-acre ranch in Northern California, I had plenty of space and other dogs around to help with the process. When my wife and I were fostering dogs in Michigan, she fell in love with a Miniature Pinscher mix named Obi. He was different from any dog I'd trained before, and without other dogs to help with training, it was a challenge. We needed Obi to be able to travel the world with us and assist my wife with her PTSD. Within six weeks, Fred from The Dog Wizard trained us on how to make Obi an incredible companion. The transformation was night and day. Now, Obi walks calmly by our side unless given the 'free' command. He accompanies us to stores, ignoring everything and everyone around him. One of his biggest issues was reacting to other dogs on leash--no longer a problem! Recently, we visited a crowded cider mill with hundreds of kids running around. Obi stayed calmly by my feet, unaffected by the chaos. Kids asked to pet him, and I explained he was working. I can't say enough good things about Fred; he's like family now. What he did for us truly means the world to me."

Her space is comfortable, safe for the dogs and perfectly located downtown Ply. Judy also does 1-1 and home trainings too. She helped get us started with our rescue pup who was afraid of the sound of her own breathing. Judy taught us some key skills which included changing some of our habits in our house. With any animal that had an unknown or came from an abusive previous home, it takes time to help build trust and change some of the behaviors of the animal. With Judy's guidance and our diligence over the last few years to creating a safe and learning environment for our pup, she's a happy, loving, brave and mostly non-reactive dog. There's always skills we need to bring back into our rotation but it's all thanks to Judy to help us along the way. We've recommended her to many people and my mom is active in classes with her new puppy.

The only reason I'm giving one star is to leave a review. I purchased a puppy in May of this year…read more Her original price was over 6000 and after she sat there for a while it dropped to 4500. The day that I went to pick her up, I heard her make a coughing noise which I brought up with the manager, who assured me that she did not have kennel cough, and she was perfectly healthy. I paid for her and left. I made an appointment with the vet the next day as required by Petland. She was diagnosed that day with kennel cough. I also brought in a stool sample and two days later it was confirmed that she had two different parasites as well. Her cough wasn't getting any better the cough was so bad in fact that she was up all night having coughing fits and keeping us awake. so I took her back to the vet and after multiple test that ran up to almost $900 we found out that she also had a children's earring in her stomach. They let anyone and everyone interact with these dogs, so I'm guessing that one of their guests lost an earring which this puppy ate. I then had to fish through her poop for days until the earring passed, and by special food to help her pass it. I have spent over $1000 in vet bills just to get this puppy well. I had to take her with me on my 20th anniversary trip because she was on so many different medication's and was sleeping a lot and I didn't want anyone else taking care of her. The Warranty company is giving my money back for the vet bills thankfully. The problem is the puppy still has a cough and now I have to decide if I have to take her back to the vet and spend another thousand dollars to figure out why. The Warranty lady told me they had a program in place that would give partial refunds and after multiple vet visits around the clock, care and stress and worry they now told me they aren't giving me a cent over what I paid out-of-pocket for her vet bills. I reached out to speak with the owner to figure out how this happened and why I was lied to and sold a sick puppy and she can't take the time of day to reach out to a repeat customer who's purchased two dogs from her establishment. Not one single person has reached out to me regarding this puppy. I even called to let them know what her sicknesses were so that the other dog she shared a crate with weren't also infected. I didn't even have to do that but because of who I am and being an animal lover, I decided that was the best thing to do. And they still can't even give me a call. I've done research in the last 24 hours and I've seen so many stories of customers of this establishment having similar experiences. I've now had to call a lawyer to try to help me figure out what the best course of action is. These people act like they're your best friend when you're in the store and when you have a problem, they can't even take the time of day to reach out to you. I've tried to be kind. I've tried to be patient but now I'm mad. I would've never left the store that day with a sick puppy. I literally have to take her back to the vet an and they will only refund my money if she has something still wrong with her whether it's a lifelong ill illness or something genetic. But I have to pay out-of-pocket for all of these expenses, and if it doesn't come to be something of that nature, then I am just out the money. But how can I be sure that this isn't something serious or something. She was born with unless I take her back and pay all of this money. Stay away from this place they are liars and scammers and do not care about you and do not care about the animals they sell. Do your own research and buy an animal from an actual breeder not someplace that gets their dogs from whoever knows where and passes them along to us as healthy puppies, who are in fact, not healthy. This doesn't end with this review my next step is to contact every local news station and continue speaking with my lawyer. This location needs to be shut down immediately.
