Friday at the nail salon is typically a busy day. I arrived a few minutes after open and was greeted immediately. Surprisingly, I only waited about 10 minutes to get taken to a massage chair for my pedicure to begin. There were a few customers who walked in after me and i noticed that they were all greeted as well. The massage chair was so comfortable that I actually started to doze off. The young lady working on my pedicure took her time and didn't make me feel rushed, even though there were other customers waiting. The pedicure was thorough, including an intense leg massage and exfoliating scrub. I really was unsure about coming here after reading the previous reviews. However, for a busy Friday morning, this was an excellent experience. I'll be back for sure. read more

If I had the option to not give one star I would. Worst nails job I've ever seen in my 41 years of life. Bubbles in the nails. All nails uneven. Design looked like crap couldn't even put the stones on to look good horrible all the way around. Never ever never ever ever will I recommend any one here or ever ever ever never go back. Looking for a quality nail spa in the burbs is harder than you might think. Sure there are a host of places you can get your nails done within salons, but a good places that's devoted to the art of beautiful nails? They're hard to come by. Enter Venere. There's a good selection of OPI and Zoya colors and a huge stack of magazines (because really that's what a nail appt. is all about right?) As you can see from the picture I snapped this place is as pretty as nail salons come with chandeliers and massive massage chairs. The very odd thing is the type of massage this chair gives. Sure I've had a back massage, but what about a butt massage? Crazy right? It left my friend and I giggling like school girls and we were oddly entertained. The water in the pedicure bowl also glows a soothing color of blue or purple adding to the fun factor here. Overall a very good pedicure. In general, it's the managment problem. I got my half ass pedi service by a teenage like girl. She doesn't really know how to do the job. She wasn't professional at all. My pedi includes massage and exfoliate the bottom of my foot. She did it like she's afraid to hurt me. Just touch here and there and my message is done. Very horrible. Ive gone to this salon in the past and remember being unhappy. However my older daughter took her three younger sisters as a sisters day out. One received the powder dip and was unhappy with her finished product. It was thin and cracked a few days after receiving the service. Another daughter received acrylic and it chipped, cracked half way down two of her nails less than a week after her service. I received the powder dip service. I could see my nail after they only applied 3 layers out of order and then drilled it down so far my nails were as thin as my nail. This my nails chipped on day 2, 3 and 5 by a week and half four nails were chipped or broken. One of the attendants was on her phone instead of working and checking her phone through out the process. Do not let the beauty of this salon fool you!! The first time I came here was from a recommendation from a friend. It took 5 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge that I walked in the door. The man that gave me a pedicure was so rough with my feet. It took ALL of the relaxation that normally comes with a pedicure out of the experience. The polish job was mediocre, which is honestly generous AND THEY CHARGE AN EXTRA $20 FOR GEL. He polished over my cuticles so it peeled within a week once my nails started to grow out. The second visit I had took 3 HOURS for a pedicure and full set. I sat in the pedicure chair for 30 minutes before anyone even touched my feet. Once again, crappy polish job (gel... for an extra $20). I wanted a solar full set and the nail tech said "oh, no I don't do those. I don't like it. I'll do acrylic for you." I wanted a pink solar nail so I could wear my nails bare. She said she could give me link acrylic instead. I agreed but when she got to the second nail she realized she used clear. Then she said "well it's too late now. I'll just do a sheer pink gel". I figured since she made the mistake I wouldn't be charged for the gel, but I was wrong. I never asked for gel OR clear acrylic. I was charged $20 for gel I didn't want. She was so slow. I spent three hours in a nail salon for a BASIC pedicure and half-ass full set. Shameful. Three days later, the acrylic began to lift off my nails. THREE DAYS LATER I WAS IN ANOTHER SALON GETTING MY NAILS FIXED. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! I'm leaving for a beach trip in a few days and let's just say that my feel are not exactly sandal-ready. To correct this, I decided to go for a pedi this weekend, which is not something I treat myself to very often. A friend and I had plans to hit another popular nail salon on the east side to get pedicures on Sunday afternoon, but when we popped in it was crowded and super-hot. One of his friends had recommended Venere, so we decided to change locations and give it a go. It's a fairly new place -- I think the nail tech told us they'd been open for about four months. I'm glad we decided to go with the alternative, because when we arrived, there was no wait. There were only a couple of customers finishing up manicures. Our timing was good, because as our pedis finished up the shop got a lot busier with walk-in customers. By the time we left, there was a full waiting room. The space is very clean and well-organized. It looks like just about any other nail salon but due to its newness, it feels, well, "new." There were only a few nail techs working on Sunday, which accounted for the wait for the folks who arrived after us, but they were very professional and proficient. The manicurists, especially, seemed to have a good rapport with their clients. Clean supplies, too! No fungus! The guy who (bravely) worked on my feet was very good. He worked quickly but it didn't feel like he was rushing through the process. Nice leg massage, too! I brought my own polish but they have a good selection of Zoya and OPI colors to choose from. I browsed the Zoyas while I was waiting for my piggies to dry and it looked like there were a lot of polishes from more recent collections (Touch, for example). Basic pedi was $32 plus tax, which is reasonable in my book. Venere also offers waxing services. All in all, I had a good experience here and would recommend it if you're looking to try out a new place on the east side! read more

My first experience was not a good one so I called and told Missy the owner I was not satisfied she told me to come back and she would make it right. I went back and have been getting my nails done only by Missy for the last 10 months every two weeks. Plus a few polish changes inbetween. I didn't wait long when I got there before taken to pedicure! I had Linda and she did a great job. Really meticulous and gave a great pedicure. Manicure was more average, but I left pleased! I have been here twice spaced about 14 months apart and I feel like I was more pleased the first time I was here. The spa chairs are really comfy and give great massages. Granted I come from Southern CA which is the land of inexpensive amazing pedicures so take this with a grain of salt, but I felt like it was a little expensive for what you get. The shape of my nails was fine when I went out to my car and the light hit me there were several missed spots on nails, I returned immediately only to have Ly (Lee) file down sides and say they are fine! I recently went to this nail shop to get a fill. The girl used the tool to take off my gel polish. When reapplying the acrylic she only did the top portion and the rest of my nails were left basically without acrylic on them. My nails are bendable at this point. I called and let them know and the owner basically stated that the girl did not make them then and that they would have to have already been thin. I asked her if this could be fixed and the owner basically told me I would have to pay for a full set. I paid 100$ for my nails, feet and eyebrows and my nails started chipping within two hours of leaving the nail shop. This is the second time the same person has done my nails like this. If I could do a review for this place without leaving a star I most certainly would!!! They charge $32 + for a pedicure at this place and i got the $40 one and it was just ok so I cant imagine what the $32 pedi would be like. They charge $40 for gel manicures and at most places in Cleveland I guess (which is crazy to me) and then they have the nerve to add on taxes smh. I usually pay $25 (and no tax) in NYC and it usually last me 3 weeks without chipping. When I got it done at this place my first nail chipped 2 days later so I went back and told them to fix it! They had the nerve to give me an attitude...I guess because I was explaining the reason I needed it fixed in front of another customer. If they would do the job right the first time they wouldn't have to worry about things like this. Well they fixed it and a couple days later the same nail chipped again along with 3 others. So after only a week of having my nails done it looks like i need them done again! I will never go back to this place again. I went there twice and wasn't satisfied twice. Got a basic manicure for $17, which btw does not include tax. The place is really nice. Big with lots of chairs and tables and chandeliers and high ceilings. Very clean and not loud. Nail tech talks to you not to everyone else as they ignore you as happens at some other places I've been to. The place is about 14 months old. My only gripe is the hard upsell. I only wanted a manicure and they really pushed for mani/pedi, which is priced okay for the area. In other cities with nail salons/bars every couple of blocks the Cleveland prices would be about $10+ too high or more for combinations but when compared to other places I called in the area, their prices were comparable plus they close late and had no wait. Now I called days in advance and made an appointment with Missy and got someone else when I arrived. What was the point of making the appointment? Missy greeted me at the door and I told her I had the appointment with her, but she was with a customer and asked could I wait and after 10,mins she sent me to someone else. This lady was not personable and charged me extra for the same job I got the first time ($20). She cut two of my fingers when filing....yes I said filing! She did a semi okay job with the polish. Went to this nail salon to get acrylic nails for the first time . I was not satisfied at all. First, I should have turned around and walked out when the Asian girl did not understand English very well when i asked about services . Anyway , a man took me back and started working on my nails . He used a drill to sand my nail bed , which hurt a little (not sure if all salons use a drill). After he put nail tips on, started to trim them down , he had to use scissors to trim thumb nail . While trying to cut nail , he caught hold of my thumb and almost cut finger if I had not yelled out that he was about to cut finger. In the end when he was done , the acrylic on left nails were thicker . To say the least , I did not give a tip for that experience . The next day , I realized that there was a gap between my nail and the nail tip. All-in-all, the shape of nails were not uniform , acrylic too thick , some nails crooked , and it looked like I needed a fill-in already . Will never go back . Oh, one other thing . ..a week later , some acrylics are starting to detach from nail bed . One nail is giving me pain, that I had to wrap a bandaid around it. Now I am online trying to figure out how to remove acryllic before I get an infection . read more

I've been going to this salon off and on since 2012. I'm usually very happy with the service and quality of work. I think the prices are in line with what I'd pay anywhere else. There have been a few instances where a new person did my nails and I wasn't as happy as other times, but never to the point where I felt the need to complain. Was here one time; for a pedi. The girl rushed through my pedi so fast that there was still dead skin in areas that should have been cleaned up, my feet were not completely smooth at all. The polish job was pathetic - polish all around my skin. Had I been billed like $10 then I would have been fine with that but once it was supposedly complete it was over $40 (which included tax and tip). I know I shouldn't have tipped her but it wasn't a 'good' tip, had she done a good job I would have given more. I had a walk-in appointment four days ago. There was absolutely no other customers in the entire place, my sister and I came in for gel manicures. This was my first time getting gels on my nails, but I have always been under the impression that gels always last longer than a plain polish manicure. I sat down and soaked my hands, and the man began to work on my nails. When using the cuticle cutter, he ripped huge pieces of skin off of my fingers, causing them to bleed. He grabbed a piece of paper towel and soaked it in acetone and, with his sharp nail, pushed the paper towel into my cuticle and when I jumped because of the pain, he said "sorry, it stops the bleeding" he was very inconsistent throughout the entire manicure, doing different number of coats on each hand, not leaving one hand under the light as long as the other, etc. by the time he was finished, I had two fingers bleeding and you could SEE THROUGH THE POLISH. I picked a light pink color, but there is absolutely no reason that j should have been able to see through it. My nails looked no better than what I could have done myself with normal polish. The worst part is, I got my nails done saturday. By Sunday, three nails already had cracks and chips... This isn't supposed to happen after one day? Very disappointed with the manicure I received, especially because I paid upwards of $40 for it. I will never return to this location, not only due to the horrible manicure I received, but also due to be bad service. I've never dealt with such rude people in my life, and I work in the restaurant business, so that is saying a lot. read more

This was the second time I went to this salon. The first time I had gels with tips applied. I was finally happy to have my nails look decent. What I didn't know was how much it hurt!! The skin was cut and bleeding around two nails, but they looked okay so I suffered for beauty sake! Today I stopped by just for a color change. The next thing I know my fingers are soa king in a bowl full of what appeared to be acetone but much stronger. After 5 minutes the tech took an emery board and started stripping the previous color off..now here's where it really hurts...she kept rubbing the board across the tips of my fingers till I asked her to stop! Now she takes out a cuticle pusher and continues to scrape the nail..now she tells me to put my hands back into the solution...omg that really burned. I wash my hands and the sting eventually subsides...now comes more painful filing on the tops of my nails..now they are red and raw. So, my thought is ...why did I do this??? Oh yeah...I wanted nice looking nails... Now they're filed down short and my fingers are raw! Next comes the color..the tech applies it to the nail . I take one look and it's bumpy..I mean scape lines and all! I almost got sick to my stomach..I had already given her 15 .09 for the service! Now the tech goes to her manager ..I just wanted it fixed. The manager sends me another tech who proceeds to fix the mess by giving me gel fills....i kind of felt sorry for him..Im writhing in pain..the manager is yelling something to him...ok now the nails are done they look like they are supposed to and I'm okay then comes .."that will be $5 more" I just want to go home!!! The manager steps in and says plus 1.50 tax. One and a half hours later I'm in my car saying..what just happened...then I remembered that I told a friend the last time I was there that" it's not busy.. We got right in". That's when it hit me!!! I was an avid customer of this salon since i started going there in early 2012. The convenience and closeness to where I lived in relation to the salon were huge advantages for me because ISome of the nail technicians who originally started working there were great and always seemed to remember me and the rest of their clients very well. They kept a great rapport and clientele experience with me. I always felt welcomed there. I would always get gel manicures and I would always try new colors they would get in because I loved their options plus the friendly service. However, that all changed after 2 particular experiences. I had a wedding to go to in mid July and needed a gel manicure. I walked in, and there was maybe a 5 minute wait, which i didnt mind because the place barely had any waits and i was always a walk-in customer. The male manicurist, who was new to the salon (i had a lot of the manicurists there service my nails before so i knew he had to be new there) greeted me and offered his opinion about what color i should try. He showed me the new gel colors which were temperature changing colors. I decided to try it since it was new. Big mistake. Not only was the color not changing at all after he applied it and we would try to dip it in water to test it, but he didnt know how to explain that what he had promised would work was definitely not working! And so i told him i would just like a regular gel color, no fancy polish. Rather than taking off the initial coat on the one hand, he just started applying the new color over it. At first i didnt think anything would happen. But then i realized if the color does supposedly happen to change, it might mix with the new top color and look bad! Which it did. He kept trying to reassure me and tell me its okay, no one will notice, etc. I told him if i notice it and right now while its drying and i can visibly see the color change, thats a problem! I asked him to please fix it and that i didnt have a chance to get something else done before the wedding in a few days. You know what he told me?? "Just go home and come back tomorrow and I'll try to fix it." Hes telling me to leave and he didnt want to fix it then because that would mean im there longer for him to do more work! I was so disappointed and upset by his suggestion because i had never been treated that way before in a salon. To just deal with it and come back later. Its my understanding that when you're paying for a service (including tax and a tip) that you would expect to leave there satisfied and with a strong feeling to return to the same establishment, especially after your loyalty is built after the several times before such an incident might happen. Nevertheless, i did not return the next day as he Rudely suggested and i went to the wedding the following week with a new color from a friend who was able to come over in the days inbetween our schedules to help. I did not call to complain. (Which learning afterwards, i definitely should have.) i decided to not hold anything against the place because ive also been in the retail/service environment, and i wasnt going to knock the place down because of one negative experience. We all have bad days and once in a while bad experiences. It gives us an opportunity for growth, right? Wrong, well at least in this place's case. I decided one day about 2 months after that experience, to go back and give it another chance, as i knew that there are other manicurists there (some who ive had before and loved) and i could request someone else rather than him. I walked in, maybe 1 other client in there, and the same guy was doing her nails. I had a new female manicurist, one again who I've never encountered before (i was going twice a month for a while there, continuously getting my nails done thats how much i loved the people who worked there!) she was just as bad as the male was 2 months prior! She cut my nails all unevenly, filed them all uneven and not even square rounded! Cut my cuticles dry basically! At one point, i asked her if i could file them myself to show her how i wanted them, because she didnt listen to what i wanted, and because she decided to cut them and shape them as she pleased. I had enough of the service that i know could have been a hell of a lot better. To top it all off, she had the worst attitude possible. Very dry. Very cold. Didnt care what i wanted really. At one point, she started speaking to other male and signaled him to come over. She then told me "he will do the rest for you." I looked at him and he remembered who i was, and then he turned back around and basically showed he didnt want to finish the job!!! She started asking him/telling him something and he snapped back. I told them both i had enough and i dont want anything done anymore. She proceeds to tell me "well i cleaned your nails and so that will be $18 with tax."
