I had the BEST lunch here!! All of their food is made from scratch right when you order, and you can really taste the difference. I got the Arepas de Pabellon, which is a a Venezuelan corn meal pocket stuffed with shredded beef, plantains, and black beans. It was AMAZING ! So delicious, and awesome portion size. I also tried the fresh mango juice. Never had it before and can't wait to have it again. The owners were warm and friendly, and provided stellar customer service. I like all kids of food. Especially food from different countries but I don't think I've ever had Venezuelan food ever in my life. I looked at the menu and pics on Yelp a d tried to figure out what to order. When it was my turn to order I asked the lady what I should get amd she recommended Arepa pabellon (sp?). Shredded beef. Super sad only because I leaving town soon and couldn't pop in as often as I'd like to have to support this wonderful small hole into he wall location! First off it smells like food heaven as soon as you enter the store. Then you're greeted right at the entrance as it a bit of a small but cute establishment. There is spacious numerous amount of seating for small to large groups. We got out order to go and received fresh hot food in about 15 minutes. So simple in terms of the lunch special, and yet so much flavor! A must try if you want a quick dish but I highly recommend trying one of their signature drinks too! I like it!!!! It's good! Arepas are awesome! I'm not very knowledgeable about food from Venezuela but this place has good food. Arepa is similar to a Mexican gordita in some ways....but different. I was considering getting two arepas. But one was more then enough. They stuff these like a big hamburger. An arepa is for lack of better knowledge on my part a thick corn tortilla sort of deal stuffed inside with delicious food. Mine was filled with a chicken salad sort of deal and cheese. Tasty. They serve it with this green sauce on the side which is not spicy but rather flavorful. I love the ambiance. It has a wonderful vibe to it and great decor with festive Latin music going on. I'm so glad that I gave this restaurant a try. There was a nice crowd for a rainy Saturday evening. I even met a fellow Yelper there. I wound up getting the Arepa Reina Pepiada (spelling?). It had a kind of chicken salad with cheese and avocado. It was filled to the brim with filling and had a delicious herb-garlic sauce on the side. I also got the tequènos, which was cheese wrapped in a pastry, an upgraded mozzarella stick. Mine wasn't crisp or melted, but I didn't eat there, I took it home and it cooled down. So that's my fault. The star of my meal for me was the pineapple drink I ordered. My gawd up above! Fresh, straight pineapple juice!!! It was so good I had to order The mango juice. And it was even better!! It's more expensive than regular drinks but it is totally worth it! Finally, I got what I thought was a dulcet de leche cookie, but I was pointed to the wrong one and got some kind of jelly instead. Disappointing. read more

My husband and I moved to Tallahassee from Miami a few months ago and we've been craving Venezuelan cuisine, especially Tequeños and VeneBites did not disappoint!! First of all the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Second, the location was impeccably clean. Thirdly, the food.... It was like coming home to grandmas house. Venebites offers fantastic arepas. These are the real deal: the arepas themselves are outstanding and the fillings are both traditional and imaginative. For starters we had the Cachito and the Tequeños. The Cachito is a fairly good sized piece of dough filled with ham and cheese. It was delicious and was large enough to be shared or be a small main entree item. The Tequeños are like Venezuelan egg rolls: cheese is rolled inside a thin wrapper and deep fried. They are addictive. We tried two arepas. The first is the Arepa de Pabellon. We were told that this is one of the more traditional arepas. The large steps was filled with plantains, beef and black beans. The sweet plantains offered a nice contrast to the meat and beans. The other steps a was the Reina Pepiada. The menu says it is filled with chicken, avocado and cheese. What it doesn't say is that this is a cold chicken salad with the avocado mixed in, topped with a pile of shredded cheese. Once I got over the fact that the filings cold, I really liked it. In fact, more than the other arepa. Both arepas were pretty big, meaning one each u I s more than enough. In sorry they don't offer a smaller size as I would have loved to try more options. Note that while the arepas are really good, that's pretty much all they sell. It works be great if they offered more dinner choices. But the arepas alone are reason to go back. Note that parking is limited so you may have to park on the street. read more

It's hard to find good places to eat in Tallahassee because many of them are hidden. VeneBites Is definitely a hidden gem! I found this Colombian restaurant through a yelp event. I love Colombian food and was very excited to try it out. Let me just say I was not disappointed! As I walked in I was immediately greeted by the amazing employees. I ordered the arepa pabellon/added shredded cheese and ordered their passion fruit juice. The food came out hot and fresh. The arepa had shredded beef, black beans, and sweet plantains. The shredded beef was savory and had so much flavor, The sweetness of the sweet plantains balanced the taste of the arepa perfectly! The passion fruit juice was refreshing and sweet! It also came with a side of green sauce. They have a nice outdoor area where you can sit outside to eat. I finally got to try this place with my Venezuelan friend visiting town. And he said it is so remarkably good and identical to what he had in his country! We ordered almost everything on the menu, and everything was so delicious. My favorite was the vegana- with yummy black beans, plantains and avocado. I don't even like black beans but these beans were so perfectly delicious! Oh and the pork (Rumbera)..again, I'm not a big fan of pulled pork, but this was seriously good! Slightly fried texture with perfect seasoning. And te green sauce is addictive!! The menu is simple, and I was skeptical as everything sounded too simple..but this proved that sometimes simple is better or even best. Found this little gem and wanted to give it a try. We wanted to avoid a crowd so we did a late lunch. I ordered the shredded chicken arepa and my daughter ordered the shredded beef. We also ordered sides of black beans, rice (which was enough to share), and plantains (all of these items were ala carte and were not included as a meal with the arepas). The avocado sauce is a must condiment for the arepas. Yum! The service was good and the food was wonderful! My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal! We got a kick out of noticing that the plate our side items were served is of the same design as a set of plates we have at home, lol! Had to make sure we weren't consuming paper as we were eating the delicious arepas, which we had to eat with a fork and knife because they were so stuffed/packed and we didn't want to lose one bite! In any case, the only drawback is that our arepas were sticking to the paper on which they were served. May be a good idea to serve the arepas in something more "solid". In any case, we will be returning. Next time though, we will simply ask that the arepas be served with no paper in the container. :o) read more

Fantastic arepas! I tried the papelbon and it was delicious and more than enough to eat...I'm glad I didn't order two. The pork was super tender and well seasoned. Don't expect to eat this baby without a fork and knife. The texture of the arepa was perfectly crisp. Take out only although there are two small tables outside if you want to eat on premesis. Staff was clean, efficient and friendly. I also tried the tres leches which was good but not on Chi Chi's level (sad face...please open again!).
