The Arepa Vegana
Dahlia L.

I was planning to take my son and his roommates for a nice dinner out in Tallahassee. I noticed the 4.8 stars and wanted some good food. I was surprised to see that it was counter service- but we all placed our orders and found pleasant table to sit together outside among several plants and cactus. I ordered the vegan option - which was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their arepas made with just the right flavors. Well done, VeneBites!

How did I not know about this place sooner? Staff is very friendly, the locations provided an authentic vibe and the outdoor seating is very relaxing. The food is above and beyond tasty and a lot. Since u have moved here from Miami I miss some of the South American cousin and this spot was not visited last for sure....

This place is absolutely amazing, serving up some excellent Venezuelan food and of all places in Tally. Started things off with tequeños...MUST GET with the garlic sauce. Game-changer! Could have eaten a whole tray of those and called it a day, but then came the pabellón, and wow! Close to the way my wife makes it. The shredded beef was so good and also comes with black beans, rice, guacamole and sweet plantains. I also tried a cachito, which is basically the Venezuelan cousin of a ham croissant but with its own delicious twist. Washed it all down with a Polar Beer, because if you're going for the full experience, you do it right. Tiny spot but super friendly people. If you haven't been yet, go. If you have, you're probably already planning your next visit!

Food is real, excellent service and welcoming ambiance. Great job muchachos !! The best Tequeños in USA !!!

Love the vibe here. Everything tastes fresh and made with care. So flavorful, and the portions are absolutely worth the price. My husband and I have tried a few dishes so far and every one has been a 10/10. Can't wait to come back and sample more.

Food is great, very nice and clean inside. Amazing service and people! Must order the tequenos

Sex on the beach & Passion fruit mojito

This place was unreal. I'm shocked it's not packed all the time. Arepas are fire. Juices are dank. Cocktails were some of the best I've had. The place does karaoke on Fridays too. If you've never been prepare to have your mind blown.

Hard to find anything negative here. People are nice, the food tastes very fresh, and the space is super clean. This was our first visit and we started our meal with the rice count order of Tequeños. Pretty interesting flavors and textures for a person always used to fried mozzarella sticks. We really enjoyed them. The Mrs. ordered the "Arepa de Pabellon" which has shredded beef, Black beans, optional cheese, and fried plantains. Aside from it being huge and hard to eat by hand, we both thought it was okay excellent. I ordered the "Arepa Vegana" which is their vegetarian option. This has black beans, fried plantains, sliced avocado, and I added the optional cheese. Very, very good for a meat free sandwich. We'll definitely come back and try. Ore things...we may even bring the kids!

The vibe

Vene Bites is a dope local spot I highly recommend if you're in Tallahassee. I got the arepa and it was fire--crispy, flavorful, and made fresh. The vibe inside was so sick, super welcoming and full of energy. The kitchen setup was really cool and clean, and they even had karaoke going which made the whole place feel alive. It seemed like everyone working there was family--not by blood, but by heart. Easily one of the best hidden gems in town.

Oftentimes in Tallahassee, it is hard to find Non-American cuisines that are authentic, but Venebites is a winner in my book! FOOD/DRINKS: The menu has a variety of arepas to choose from and they are staple foods in the Venezuelan culture. They also have empanadas, tequeños, cachitos, sancochos and paella but I always get the Arepas because they are so good and so filling! The tequeños are also a great appetizer. My kids love them! I usually get a passion fruit juice with my order but they have other Venezuelan drink options and coffee. SERVICE: Family oriented. Friendly. Welcoming. ATMOSPHERE: The restaurant is small with a capacity of 35 but there is also outside seating. The environment has lovely latin music playing in the background and is beautifully decorated yet still cozy. I don't even feel like I am in Tallahassee when I am there. The atmosphere is very cultural. LOCATION: Private parking lot with limited parking. PROs- Food quality (authentic!) and price CONs-Depending on when you go, it might be hard to find parking.

The rest of the family didn't do so well... My son ordered from the kids menu. He wanted Linguini. He had the options of: * Plain linguini ($8) * Alfredo linguini ($10) * Alfredo linguini with chicken ($13). He ordered plain. He got Alfredo. I asked to get it switched to plain. The person I asked told me that is just how it is made. "Plain is Alfredo." I asked, "What is Alfredo then?" She said, "that is with Alfredo with Chicken." I asked, "What is Alfredo with Chicken then?" She said, " that is supposed to say Shrimp." The look on her face was "why is this a problem for you." When we got the bill, it showed we were charged for Alfredo linguini for $9. My daughter ordered a chicken quesadilla, she got cheese. We asked about it, they made her another one, but it took longer to get than the original order. My wife ordered the turkey club. It came out without the bacon, lots of turkey, none of the sauce. They gave us 15% off for our confusion which was nice. I'm still baffled by that linguini.

Eh, it's okay. Overall everything was lacking flavor, but it was okay. Service was awful but I'm…read morenot reviewing that right now given the circumstances. We went on Monday because nothing else was open. Try if you must but overall nothing special.
