I sat on the inside as it was a bit chilly. But the outside has such cute seating too. The guy at the cash register chose all of our food for us and the recommendations were great! He said they had a live jazz performance stating later that night, but we weren't able to stay for it. I love the fried cheese on the arepa, I've never had one with that combination of ingredients and I was very pleased. The tequeos were the perfect start to the meal. This place is absolutely amazing, serving up some excellent Venezuelan food and of all places in Tally. Started things off with tequeños...MUST GET with the garlic sauce. Game-changer! Could have eaten a whole tray of those and called it a day, but then came the pabellón, and wow! Close to the way my wife makes it. The shredded beef was so good and also comes with black beans, rice, guacamole and sweet plantains. I also tried a cachito, which is basically the Venezuelan cousin of a ham croissant but with its own delicious twist. Washed it all down with a Polar Beer, because if you're going for the full experience, you do it right. Tiny spot but super friendly people. If you haven't been yet, go. Hard to find anything negative here. People are nice, the food tastes very fresh, and the space is super clean. This was our first visit and we started our meal with the rice count order of Tequeños. Pretty interesting flavors and textures for a person always used to fried mozzarella sticks. We really enjoyed them. The Mrs. ordered the "Arepa de Pabellon" which has shredded beef, Black beans, optional cheese, and fried plantains. Aside from it being huge and hard to eat by hand, we both thought it was okay excellent. I ordered the "Arepa Vegana" which is their vegetarian option. This has black beans, fried plantains, sliced avocado, and I added the optional cheese. Very, very good for a meat free sandwich. We'll definitely come back and try. Oftentimes in Tallahassee, it is hard to find Non-American cuisines that are authentic, but Venebites is a winner in my book! FOOD/DRINKS: The menu has a variety of arepas to choose from and they are staple foods in the Venezuelan culture. They also have empanadas, tequeños, cachitos, sancochos and paella but I always get the Arepas because they are so good and so filling! The tequeños are also a great appetizer. My kids love them! I usually get a passion fruit juice with my order but they have other Venezuelan drink options and coffee. SERVICE: Family oriented. Friendly. Welcoming. ATMOSPHERE: The restaurant is small with a capacity of 35 but there is also outside seating. The environment has lovely latin music playing in the background and is beautifully decorated yet still cozy. I don't even feel like I am in Tallahassee when I am there. Food is fine but a wrap (no sides), an Arepa (no sides), fried cheese (3 small strips), 2 sauces (yes that's extra too) and a drink is $55 after tax pre- tip. Not sure if it's the rent or cost of plantains that's the cause of these prices? The food as I said was fine but not mind blowing. The meat was on par with solid Mexican places (think Surcheros) but it wasn't that unique in flavor and definitely not worth the 35% extra cost. read more

Wonderful, wonderful food the taste were just bursting in my mouth. Plantains were just to die for the women were beautiful that cooked it. They brought it out to you a nice little spot. You can sit outside under your awning, cold beer, sea number of other dishes in there, but their specialty is our eras and they come in three different Only and then the rest are chicken and beef and pork different sauces preparation great food we had flan for dessert and just left there with the beam on our face. Lovely Venezuelan restaurant in Tallahassee recommended by a friend who went to school at FSU. The servers and chefs were all so welcoming and kind! The ordering style here is ordering at the counter then waiting at the table, where the servers will bring the food out to you. When we entered, we were immediately greeted by one of the chefs and he kindly made a table for us, since we did have a larger party of 11. It was a later lunch on Sunday, and not too busy (fortunately for us). We all ordered at the counter and sat down. I ordered the Arepa de Carne Molida (ground beef) with an order of 5 tequenos (their Venezuelan version of fried cheese sticks...ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE!!!) to share with a friend. The food came out in less than 10 minutes or so. THE TEQUENOS WERE SO AMAZING..!!!!! 10 OUT OF 10. NEEDED SECONDS. They came out so HOT & fresh and had such amazing flavor, plus the sauce that came with it was also SO AMAZING. I need more of these in my life. My arepa de carne molida was also very tasty and cheesy, and quite sizeable! I love how much meat and cheese is in each arepa-- these are so filling!! I couldn't finish it with the side of tequenos I ordered haha. The arepa also comes with the same sauce and I was nearly licking that sauce cup clean. Wouldn't be a complete meal without a drink to pair, so I ordered the jugo de mango (mango juice) and it was splendidly refreshing. More of a blended juice than straight juice. Enjoyed the different type of mango taste than the typical Asian mango. Overall, awesome experience at VeneBites, from the awesome service to the mouthwateringly delicious food. So we've never had Venezuelan food but heard good things so we decided to give it a shot. The owners are very friendly and helpful in helping us order. We started with Tacquenos, which are mozzarella cheese sticks wrapped by a bread dough and fried. They were really good! A friend who came with us said they were just like she grew up with back home. The garlic dip it came with was very tasty. We each ordered Arepas - they are a cornbread kind of like a pita and filled with different meets and things. One of them had beef, black beans, a white cheese and plantains. It was quite tasty. Another was filled with beef, cheese and black beans and the final one had pulled pork, cheese and black beans. I made two meals out of mine. What we ordered: Tequeños - order of 5, super yummy cheese sticks Platanos - excellent! And a lot for what's considered a side. Patacón - this was so much food, and full of flavors! I love the way they cooked the ground beef. And their green sauce is awesome. I would put that on anything. Arepa de Pablleon - GIANT. This is one of the most underrated restaurants in all of Tallahassee. This place offers a unique cultural experience. It's really a gem here in town. Today I came in a got the shredded chicken arepa and a passion fruit juice. I usually get the shredded beef arepa but I decided to go a little lighter today. It was great needles to say. I love how large the servings are! It was definitely enough food for two people. The cheese was so flavorful and so was the chicken. The avocado really balances everything out. The passion fruit juice was on point per usual. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for something a little different to eat. read more

A great authentic local restaurant! Don't pass on this place! Despite my attempts to stay up on the best new restaurants in Tally, VeneBites snuck past me... until now! Although I've previously tried arepas, even in Tallahassee, these were on an entirely different level. I went with the Arepa de Pabellon and a mango juice and was completely blown away by the amazing flavors and the huge quantity of food. Seriously, as much as I wanted to stay handheld with the arepa, I had to resort to a fork and knife with the overflowing amount of food. I also couldn't pass up on a slice of Torta Tres Leches for dessert, which was one of the best I've ever had. Overall, I'm a bit sad to have only discovered VeneBites this late into my time in Tally, but I'm glad to see they're keeping the authentic, delicious food scene alive here! What I love most is the amazing flavors that burst you into your happy dance! There's a specific sauce that comes on the side, complimented my arepa so well! The service was incredibly fast especially during a busy lunch hour. The price could easily add up to approximately $20 per person since there's no combo options (sides are sold separately). I finally made it at VeneBites at the direction of multiple friends. We placed a large to-go order and had a feast at home. I ordered a refreshing Jugo de Mango (tasted like a viscous mango/sugar/water blended agua fresca) for the drive. I can see myself going to Venebites between mealtimes and ordering that drink... Venebites prides itself on its gluten-free baked arepas (cornmeal pockets) which are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, but there are other menu items that really shine here. After the stranger in line before me passionately told me about her favorite menu items, I decided to order the Arepa Reina Pepiada, an arepa stuffed with shredded chicken breast mixed with a mayo-based avocado paste, avocado chunks, and white cheddar. Everything tasted fresh and the arepa itself had a rich corn flavor. My husband ordered the Arepa Pelua, an arepa stuffed with shredded beef and white cheddar. The shredded beef was packed with fatty flavors. I'll probably veer towards the beef next time! The tequeños were delightful - think fried cheese sticks in a wrapped pastry crust served with their signature green garlic dipping sauce. Will order again. The black beans were well-seasoned with a hearty garlic flavor. Some of the best I've had in town. The long grain white rice was as-expected. I asked the cashier what I should order for dessert and without skipping a beat, she suggested the Tres Leches (Three Milks) Cake, a sponge cake soaked in three different kinds of milk, topped with whipped cream and a cherry. It was delightful!! It had the flavor of a gourmet Little Debbie's Christmas Tree Cake and I mean that in the best way. Will visit again soon. read more
