When most people think Haagen Dazs, they just think ice cream - but what they don't know is that Haagen Dazs does wonderful afternoon tea sets in store that are pretty good value. At $58, you can have a scoop of ice cream, a slice of cake and a drink! When just once scoop of ice cream will set you back around $30, $58 for all that is definitely a good deal! As for cake, I always, always opt for the tiramisu. The reason is that there usually isn't a huge variety - just three to choose from - and between them, only the tiramisu and cheesecake appeal to me and the cheesecake is pretty terrible. I tried it once, and it was dry, solid and not very cheesecake-y at all, if that made any sense. The tiramisu, on the other hand, is soft and has a strong coffee taste. This kind of means I only have one choice of cake here and have to get the tiramisu every time, but that doesn't really bother me because I don't come here that often. As for ice cream, no matter how many times I've been there, I always take my own sweet time trying the different flavors. I normally settle for cookies and cream, green tea or vanilla. I don't really like the hot coffee here because it's too strong for me, but the iced coffee is just fine. Do note that the scoop that comes with the set is smaller than what you would get if you order on its own! But for $58, I still think it's reasonable. My friends and I come here sometimes for afternoon tea and we sit at the huge couches for two hours just talking. It doesn't really get crowded so we don't feel pressured to leave. I think this Haagen Dazs is a great place to catch up with a friend. The environment isn't loud and you can stay for quite a while. The tea set is pretty worth it in my opinion and is definitely worth checking out! (Side note: the high tea - the one in three tiers - is NOT worth checking out. I tried it once and it was mediocre at best.)

They didn't seem to have much of the menu items left--any flavors other than matcha, that were special, were sold out. I opted for the Uji Matcha Affogato, which looked and sounded great on paper. Uji Matcha is sightly bitter than your average Matcha powder. I love my matcha strong, but this was overall just bland--there was no kick to it, whatsoever. It was a Matcha overload; Matcha over Matcha, over Matcha, in different textures--Matcha latte topped with matcha soft serve, with Matcha sauce poured over. I have to say that with the hot Matcha sauce poured over the Matcha soft serve, it remained firm for awhile, but it was very bland once you finish the ice cream. The sauce is pretty much a lot of unsweetened Matcha mixed with water. I wish I'd only gotten the matcha soft serve by itself. I'm sure the Matcha is top-notch quality, but it was too much for me. You may like this affogato if you like your matcha strong and unsweetened, but I found it very boring. It was nice to look at, but totally not up to par with the presentation. Pretty expensive for the $53 it costs.

I've never had anything that beats this standard including many visits to Paris. I enjoyed the pistachio and almond flavors this visit. You simply order your pastries. You can have them cut in half, after they've been filled, and they're carefully placed in sleeves to eat right away or boxed for takeaway. You move down and pay as the pieces are filled and packaged for you. I'll certainly be back! You will NOT be disappointed.

I had wanted to try honey comb ice cream ever since I saw pictures of it all over Instagram…read more Imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon Honey Creme during my trip to Hong Kong. There were no customers at the time, so my order came out incredibly fast. I ordered the Comb Honey flavor. They cover the sides of your cup with honey and then they pour in their incredible soft-serve. Then they top it with a piece of real honey comb. The soft serve was exceptional creamy and velvety. Coupled with the lightly sweet honey, it was a match made in heaven. I finished the entire cup in a matter of minutes and then I ate the honey comb. It was incredibly delicious. I definitely recommend stopping by if you want a delicious way to top off a meal.

They have quite a few choices but we ordered their recommended flavour which was honey comb. I don't know why but I was expecting honey comb flavoured ice cream instead it was just vanilla soft serve with a few pieces of honey comb around the edges. The ice cream was good but you could definitely taste that they made it with mix. It has that artificial milky vanilla taste to it. For this price, I don't think I will return for such average ice cream.

It's never a big name out there in French or the rest of the world. It's like the fashion-equivalent of Michael Learns to Rock. People in Hong Kong really love it back in early 2000s, and now I barely know anyone that likes this brand in particular. Now Agnes b. may or may not notice the same, but they have their strategy - leverage its brand, and diversify. This particular shop is a cafe and a florist. While the food is nothing near amazing or authentic, and the flowers at the florist is just above par (hey I have a high standard), the decor makes up for everything and some more. It's enough to attract first timers but not enough to keep returning customers. Which, ironically, is perfect on Gough Street, while nowadays consists of only tourists and hipsters. Agnes b. is too mainstream to attract hipsters anyway compared to other shops, and you don't really have to care about returning tourists... so yeah, it can and probably will excel very well here but I have other options for sure.

It is close to my office and I've had the latte, cappuccino, flat white, and pour over. I've moved towards having a stronger espresso taste and less milk and typically order the piccolo. I've never had the food here but they do serve pasta lunch sets which include a coffee. If my rating were based on coffee alone I would give 5 stars. However, a lot of people come to coffee shops to hangout and read or talk with friends. This isn't a place to do that. Also they are really lacking in pastry options which are typically really good at higher end coffee shops.d

Don't let the giant queue scare you, and yes there is almost always a queue. Despite that, it moves fairly fast. Its definitely not a place where you sit and chat with your friends. They expect you to sit down, order right away, eat it, and leave right away. But I guess many popular places are like that around Hong Kong.. Seating-wise its very cramp here. You'll be sitting basically elbow to elbow with strangers next and behind you. But that doesn't matter because their desserts are so wonderful! Some of my favorites are the tong yuen (glutinous rice balls) that come come with peanut sauce. The one that comes in the ginger soup is good too (for this dish, the balls have fillings inside, such as sesame or peanut sauce). Another good one is their sorbets, which are perfect for a hot day.

Having no idea that this place existed, I was pretty thankful to my new local friend who suggested this place. Most people just come here to eat dessert and leave right after. Once seated, my friends and I spent some time browsing through the extensive dessert menu and settled on trying the durian with crystal seeds (one of the many popular dishes) and watermelon and lychee with crystal seeds. In summary, the watermelon and lychee were ok. The watermelon ended up being too watery for my taste and the lychee wasn't too memorable. Both tasted decent but definitely not a must try. For the durian, this was surprisingly good! I am normally not a durian fan (the stench gets to me sometime) but here, you couldn't really smell too much of the durian in the dish. The taste of durian was also soften quite a bit, making this dish a bit more doable for those who do not like durian. I found this dish to be pretty tasty and not too sweet and it was unique to eat it with the crystal seeds. Overall, this is a great spot to stop by for desserts. If you're not a fan of durian but can tolerate the smell of it wafting through the restaurant, this place is great to try other HK desserts at an affordable price.
