Food: This was some amazing gelato. Their chocolate flavors are the best. Service: There isn't a long line, and it will move fast! Ambiance: Big and bright store.

Food: 4 Stars Service: 2 Stars We wanted to check them out when we were walking around Piazza Navona, but it was too crowded and decided against it. When we were at the airport, we had some time and my husband wanted one more gelato before we left for the States so we stopped by. Below is my quick assessment: Gelato: It was creamy, decadent, and good but we have had better while touring Italy. It's definitely commercialized and doesn't have that fresh flavor bursting through. Chocolates: We saw the chocolates on display and decided to bring some home as gifts. They were a huge hit! Not overly sweet but packed with savory hazelnut and coffee bits, their chocolates would satisfy any chocolate craving. Each morsel was creamy and smooth... No wonder this company has been around for 141 years! Service: SO. SLOW. 2 employees behind the counter and about 5 customers in line... took about 15-20minutes to get 1 gelato and a small bag of chocolates.

Cool chocolate shop in the airport with a long line. Took forever to buy my goods which I forgot take a picture of. It had a huge chocolate fountain in the background and very expensive tourist prices on the chocolates. It was good but not worth the high price!

Solid but not really mind-blowing...worth it if you're a tourist leaving Italy though and want your final fix of gelato! That was definitely me. The price here is on the high side (I paid €3.70 for the smallest size, 2 flavors), but what else do you expect at an airport, right? I read a couple of the other reviews and also agree that the service here is not great. It's pretty slow and at least when I visited, it seemed almost like the lady at the counter was reluctant to help me. I got the tiramisu flavor as well as the orange & passion fruit flavor (a new one apparently!). Both were pretty good! I'm probably just a sucker for anything tiramisu but that one was definitely my preferred one out of the two. The fruit one was decent but a bit too tart for me. Texture of both flavors was great though--very creamy but also light. Overall, solid place if (like me) you just crave one last gelato in Italy and your gate is a few steps away, but if I had more reasonably priced + friendlier options then I'd go elsewhere. There are definitely better spots in the city offering more bang for your buck and gelato just as good if not better!

I ended up stopping at Venchi on Friday before catching my flight back to Toronto. This place offers a bunch of different pastries and gelato options to make you feel better before sitting on a plane for 10 hours. The layout is kind of confusing as you actually pay before going to the gelato case, which meant I stood in front of the gelato for 5 minutes before the guy told me where to go. Once I paid and went back to the case I ended up the cookies and milk gelato which was extremely good and definitely better then what I expected to get at the airport. I'm giving Venchi 3 stars based on the lack of service and confusing setup, but the actual gelato was pretty darn good.

Probably one of the best gelato I have ever had. Such an amazing ritual for me to have it every time I fly through FCO. Service is excellent, great variety of gelato, fantastic variety, and creativity with different types of cones. Fair prices! Lovely!!!!

I was craving for some gelato during my unfortunate 8 hour layover in Rome. So after having some pizza and walking around the terminal, I decided to make pit stop at Venchi. You will need to pay first and then give your order to the server. I'm not a gelato connoisseur but it tasted pretty good.

In my layover at the Italy Airport, I came across Venchi and got some gourmet chocolate and chocolate Easter eggs. Their Chocolate was very delicious with strong cocoa favor. There was a long line for gelato but I did not try it. The line was about 10-15 mins long. If I come across Venchi in New York then I would like to try again. I would rate their chocolate better than Lind and similar to Godiva and but not as sweet. ( please click helpful)

The best gelato in my time in Europe! Everything is made to order. It's just so creamy and delicious lol. Definitely stop by!

Holy Italian cioccolato! So before I left for Rome, I did some research on where to buy chocolate…read morebecause, well, I seek out the best chocolate everywhere that I go. Now, I had forgotten about this place until (happily), I came across it quite by accident while strolling around Monti. So of course, I stopped in. I was greeted by the store clerk who I first thought was a little mean-looking. However. She was a delightful woman who spoke to me in French and took the time to tell me about the different flavors, pricing etc. she was very helpful and didn't rush me as I decided which flavors I wanted. Great service. I selected a handful of flavors - about ten pieces of chocolate, and these cost 8€. Let me tell you one very important thing: this chocolate is totally worth the price. Thus far, I've tried the orange slice dipped in dark chocolate, and the lemon peel (also dipped in dark chocolate) and I can confirm that we are looking at quality. Fantastic flavors! The chocolatier makes each piece right there so you know it's authentic and fresh. Interestingly, the chocolatier is the son of the man who owns the very well known Moriondo è Gariglio, who happens to be Rome's oldest chocolate shop - so he learned from the best. If you're in Monti, these guys are worth the detour.

If you're just expecting top quality handmade chocolates, you won't be disappointed; but this store has plenty more to offer as well. Jams, teas and infusions, jellies, biscuits, sugared almonds and chocolate spreads and crèmes make it tough for even the most self-disciplined shopper to leave empty-handed. They also serve an excellent hot chocolate, to drink inside or take away. The service is friendly and attentive, and although the handmade chocolates are quite pricey, you won't be disappointed with the quality. Remember, chocolate is made from a bean so technically it's a vegetable! ;) Eat your veggies! Yum!
