Kayla was super quick and efficient with my fill. We started about 10 minutes behind my scheduled appointment which did not bother me - I note it because my nail tech was super apologetic and explained that the appointment before mine was supposed to be a simple fill but several repairs were required. They clearly have an estimate based on services being provided that works well for them. I was in and out quickly even though Kayla was meticulous with the French tip design. The place has a cool aesthetic with pink neon signs and a mermaid looking accent wall that was really cool. Looking around, I could tell I was surrounded by regulars, so that was a good sign :) I went with a simple short style and it turned out well. I will be back in a couple weeks for Kayla to do a full set for me. I got a gel manicure here for the first time and decided to wait before reviewing to see how well it lasted. Now, almost 4 weeks later, my nails still look good. That being said, my experience here wasn't the best. The lady at the front confirmed the price for the gel manicure and asked me to pick a color among all the colors they had displayed at the entrance without telling me that the matte ones would result in an upcharge. I chose a matte and, after the service, she automatically included the charge, which I contested, saying that she could have let me know as soon as I picked a matte. She insisted I had to pay for it and I said, again, that it wasn't fair to make a customer pay for something they weren't aware of -- I didn't care if it was matte or not, I just liked that color. At the end she rolled her eyes and charged me for a non-matte color. I do want to give this place another try, as I think they have good professionals. However, I will first double-check all their services and respective prices next time. read more

I came here on a quick lunch break to have an acrylic removal done. Upon sitting down I noticed nail dust all over the techs working area, not a huge deal. She was really friendly. Unfortunately she cut me with the drill bit worse than I've ever been cut before. My biggest issue was when she went to file my nails and buff them at the end. She used nail file that has been used so many times on other people that the grit was worn completely off in areas. The buffer she used was also old and worn. I know due to having a close friend in the same industry, that they are supposed to use new files and buffers in each client. It is incredibly unsanitary to use the same files over and over again in different clients. I only went out of desperation due to one of my nails breaking off and another cracking. read more

She was very thorough with my nails and my toes and offered some helpful advice on how to maintain my nails. They have a full bar for you to enjoy some Spirits while you are being pampered. Not only do they offer nail services, but they also offer, waxing, threading, facials, and lashes. It's best to book your appointment in advance because they do get busy. The salon is located in the heart of Downtown Orlando and it is spacious and clean, and the music is not too loud or offensive. This is my favorite place to get my nails done in all of Orlando! I can highly recommend Brandon, Aimee, and Ruby, as I've had services completed by all of them with no complaints. I came in solely to get acrylic toes done, and I asked for a simple black french tip, as the design I originally wanted was somehow almost $50 more than the original price. The lady who was working on my feet continuously called her coworkers over so they could giggle and laugh and presumably make fun of the way my feet looked. I said nothing as this happened as I did not understand their language and could only guess but I felt terrible the entire time. It's a one person job, so either way it's not a good look and only left me assuming the worst. To top it off, one of my toenails came completely off today when I got them done not even 5 days ago. My coworker and I stopped by from out of town. We found this place with great reviews online. It was a weekday afternoon and we only had to wait about 10 minutes to get seated. Both of us started with pedicures. This was only my second pedi ever as I usually have just gotten manis and acrylics in the past. It was great and they had some nice pumice type tool to scrub my dry rough feet. It's been a few days and my feet are still feeling nice and smooth. They have drinks if you want one while relaxing so I had a mimosa. The chairs are comfy and have massaging settings. We had a brief chat with Vivian, who did my friends nails. She did a phenomenal job! I had a different person do my pedi from the one who did my hands but both were great. I unfortunately didn't get the name of the guy who did mine but look at the photo! My nails are so cute! And so ready for New Years Eve! Tip in cash cause it takes a couple weeks for them to get the card tips. I will be back whenever I am in Orlando for work! read more

I've been going there for the last couple years. I got gelX the last time I went. Bad experience: 1. The nail tech was rush, rough, and grumpy. She started off by using high grid buffer machine to buff my nail and my cuticles (fast and rough). I told her it's hurt my skin, instead of slow down or changing to the lower and smaller grid buffer, she told me to go watch YouTube that's how they do it. I had to tell her to change the buffer then she changed. 2. I know how gelX is done. They buff the fake nails and lightly buff the person's nail. She skipped the fake nail buffing process and used the high grid buffer machine on my nails instead. I told her I watched YouTube, they buff the fake nails inner surface too so that they can adhere well to the glue. She said no, she doesn't do that and no one complains, they stay for 4 weeks. I let her finish her job but wasn't feeling good about it. 3. She didn't ask if I like the shape or how many color coats I wanted. she just did whatever she wanted FAST cuz she had next customer coming in. I kept telling her and asking her to fix the uneven shape and a crooked nail. She wasn't happy and kept humbling in Vietnamese by herself a few times. She also kept complaining to me that I had to cut my nails a couple times even I told her not to (cuz I've done it before, I know the length of my nail won't affect the adhesive). What affected the adhesive was when she put uneven glue, did not put my nails long enough under the UV light and skipping the fake nails buffing process! Was not a good experience at all. I felt like I was in ER room or sth. Guess what, after paying $78 for a rush and rough nails job, 2 weeks later the fake nails came off. I went back to fix and paid another $15+tip for 2 nails. Less than week later, they fell off again in the picture cuz she didn't want to buff the fake nail before putting glue on all I see is glue adhere to my nail but not to the fake nail. At this point, I wouldn't go back to pay them to fixed their mistakes again. Save money and time! Go somewhere else. Nice place but terrible experience. read more

Ruby did my nails last and although they're nice, she charged me $20 "chrome" when good she put eyeshadow on my nails...literally metallic eye shadow. It is one of the nicer places in Orlando, but they will definitely charge you for everything. They also "forget" to give you your discounts. When you schedule an appointment online, it charges you $10 upfront, and every single time I have gotten my nails done they have charged me that $10 again. read more

I had came in because my nail had broken and I got my full set back home in Lake Balboa, Los Angeles, Ca. So I needed a good place and I've been told by a few people to come here. Its clean and inviting, receptionist is gorgeous & sweet. I was thirsty for water and she gave me a clean glass with ice & water with a straw. Love the customer service. Things got a little tricky for me here... the quality if the acrylic is cheap. So its bound to break even with powder set on top. I can't have fancy designs or crazy colors or even gel because the type of work I do. I got a regular coat of nail polish and I messed up my nail twice so that was on me but how I was a bit rushed to leave the salon because (nail lady) she said they were dry was an understatement. My nails were not completely dry and I have a lot of scuffs on my nails. I want to give this place another try and see if it will happen again. This location is 10 mins from where I live. Hopefully, hopefully this place will do me justice. read more

Actually devastated. I've been going to Velvet Nail Bar only for about two years now. My regular nail tech was on vacation for a while and I had to go to someone new. Not just new to me but possibly new to the salon (I am not sure). I got my nails and toes done and he was a little rough but I didn't think anything of it. About a week and a half later I noticed something under the nail polish on my big toe and there was/is a discoloration, later I found out that it was a fungus. I contacted the Nail Bar and the Manager kindly offered me a refund which I gladly accepted. I ended up purchasing fungal nail renewal with the money so I am hoping that it helps because I want to wear sandals and heels with my toes out again soon! Follow up to the Owner's response: The Owner said it was not their technicians fault but I've never gotten fungus on my toe until after this visit so I digress. The owner also stated that I got a polish change. This is correct I did get a polish change, however, there were utensils used on my feet still. The utensils used during this service was a nail clipper, filer and buffer in addition to the polish of course and based on my research some of the utensils mentioned above could have been the reason for said fungi. read more

Really big and clean salon, was very disappointed by the prices. Paid $98 for a gel manicure with builder gel. I had short nails and no designs. This is usually a $50/60 manicure. I had been going here for awhile and the last time I went in, they charge me for designs I did not get. When I ask why that fee was in there, they said it was actually extra for the gel polish. I went with that and went home. I looked on their website when I got home and the gel polish is INCLUDED with the fill. That's my fault for trusting them but I'm curious as to how many of don't actually look at our receipts. First time visitor at this place and I had an appointment. Upon entering owner asks me what my name is and time of my appointment. I responded and was given a snarl as if she couldnt find me so she asked for my phone number and found me right away. I watched 4 other customers walk in and be seated with nail techs before me I was even looked at. I stayed calm. I was asked if i wanted something to drink (that was nice) however i refused because i was still waiting in the lobby area. At 4:30 a nail tech approached me and tried to tell me what i wanted and after about 3 min and realizing what i wanted she said " i dont have time to do dat" i was asked to wait an additional 15 for someone to do (ombre) powder nails. This is not a special request for any nail place. Meanwhile a walk in comes in woth her boyfriend and asked if he can sit next to her while she got her nails done. Owner says of course and seats them immediately!!! I just walked out. I am worth so much more than the service i was being given. My time and money will definitely NOT go to such a place with such horrible service!!! read more

Such a disappointment! I've got a here a couple times and it's been okay, but now I will never go back. First it took 2 hours for just a fill in. Then the next day my nail paint started bubbling and peeling. For a 2 hour fill in and $70 later my nails should not be doing this. I went back to try and get them fixed and the rude front desk lady said sorry I have no one who can fix it today and that was the end of the conversation. No solution no help no I can fit you in at another time. Very disappointed! Let me point out that there was no "freak out". I was disappointed in the customer service you should provide for a customer who had an issue with a service that was paid for. I've only been in Florida for a few months and I've been looking for a nail salon to call home and I think I found it. I don't like the process of getting my nails done but I like the outcome. I really liked that my nail tech Nolan was fast and efficient. He focused on the task and got it done quickly and I didn't jump from a prick or being nipped. The most important thing for me when I wear tips is shaping and Nolan made sure I was happy with the shape before he moved on. I didn't give 5 stars because the ventilation could use an upgrade. I made a nail appointment online with Sam, who was recommended to me by my sister. If you book an appointment online you will be asked to make a $10 deposit. Parking was not too difficult to find downtown. You just have to keep your eye peeled for parallel spots, you can find quite a few that have free two hour parking. This was only my second time getting my finger nails done with dip. Sam was very thorough and understood my requests. I did not want the dip too thick and I wanted my nails at an appropriate length since I work at the hospital. Unfortunately at work, I realized one of my nails had chipped. I had gotten them done Thursday and the gel chipped Sunday. I called them and they promptly made me an appointment the following day to get it fixed.
