We bought the bike and returned the next day because the seat was broken. Rather than accommodating us, the staff actually challenged our claim. The staff's rudeness was unparalleled to anything I've ever encountered and I've traveled extensively. They were likely anti- american and likely held other biases I wouldn't care to mention. PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT THIS ESTABLISHMENT. There are many wonderful bike stores in Berlin and this one does not deserve your business. Please check out any Little John. FAR SUPERIOR in every way!!! We knew which bike we wanted and planned to buy it right away, but just needed a little help deciding which size to get. The staff was so unhelpful and basically ignored us, so we just walked out. My husband later told me he'd taken his bike to there to get repaired and they hadn't fixed it properly. This place is one block from our house but we won't be going there again.

I went in for chain cleaner to pour in my plastic chain cleaner contraption. The sales guy scoffed…read moreand told me I should never clean my chain because it's bad to remove the fat. Instead I should buy ketten fliess fett (i.e. chain lube oil), the single chain maintenance product they sell. I explained I was planning to re-lube my bike with a wax-based lube (which I already own) after cleaning it, and the salesperson found that outrageously crazy. I don't know why I bought the oil lube, but when I paid he scoffed that I had to use my card instead of cash for such a cheap purchase. What can I say, I was prepared to pay for $$ chain cleaner, not lube. On the plus side, when I stumbled in my German the guy wasn't discouraging and then kindly switched to English. Also despite my frustrations with the service, I'd describe his attitude as generally jovial, friendly and efficient. The ketten fliess fett was reasonably priced, I think. I don't mind that someone has a different opinion on chain maintenance, I would just appreciate a little recognition that I'm not out of my mind for wanting to clean and then lube my bike chain. I know there are other people out there do it that way.

I do not recommend Bikecology…read more I asked Bikecology to replace my handlebar, headset, brake pads, bearings in my crankshaft, chain, one new tire, and to rewrap the end-bars with tape. The repairs were not rushed. It took a few days to order the parts and then they kept my bike for 3 days for the repairs. All together about one week, which was fine. The quality of the service was unfortunately very poor. The bike could not be ridden because the handlebars were loose. When gripping the end-bars, they simply rotated down because the handlebars were not tightened. This was dangerous, and they fixed it immediately. When riding home I noticed the brake pads were not correctly placed. The left brake lever was very loose as if it was forgotten. The replacement headset was the incorrect height. The wrong part was ordered but they installed it anyway. They were plainly irritated the next day when I requested they re-tension the brake cables, adjust the brake pads. I paid for the service, so this seemed fair. I asked about the other issues, but they didn't care. It seemed as if the new parts were put on, but nothing was finished. The repairs were fairly priced if the work was complete and done fairly well, which it was not. I lived only 2 blocks from this location, but took my bike to a different shop. There, it was tuned up for a fair price and I paid for a new headset. Overall a waste of money paid for labor and cost of the headset.

Staff is also super friendly and helpful, with recommending food and places to visit too! We ordered cappuccinos and a smashed avocado focaccia to share. Absolutely loved the presentation, and the focaccia was so flavorful. Also probably one of the better coffees I've had in Berlin. Highly recommend if you're looking for a good breakfast spot!

Longer version (for the brave) - my friend has gave me his bicycle- the seat was too high and the lights were broken, as I'm completely clueless about these things I was sure wherever I'll go to someone will try to rip me off. A quick search has ended in this shop which is down the street, the seat was too high and my lights were really messed up, they re-wired the whole thing for a fair price. And lowered the seat a couple of times until I was pleased. Don't let the looks of the shop fool you - despite its "simpleness" the people who work here are nice and helpful, and they will answer your questions with patience and listen to your problems. Came back the day after as I thought it's not working, and I was a bit angry, but then realized the problem was me - as the Dynamo was just not touching the wheel because I didn't push it, silly me :) Anyway, got a quick explanation and even help with other bike- related issues I've had. They are the nicest team around, and if you have any problems, they are definitely the people to ask. Thanks for being awesome, thanks for all the help- keep up the good work!
