A very good bikeshop in Friedrichshain. The employees are friendly and helpful, they take their…read moretime to help you find a proper bike and give you good advice on what to get. The store is not to bike, but they have a decent selection from low budget second hand bikes to high end bikes. When getting a new bike the montage of custom modifications (e.g. different tires) is free, and they even deducted the price of the dismantled pieces from the final price (e.g. original tires on new bike 10EUR, custom tires for new bike 30EUR, just pay 20EUR extra). Also they offer a free check-up for new bikes (but make sure you keep their timeframe).

I've used this shop twice, but won't use it again. First time for a flat tire. They replaced the…read moretube quickly and relatively painlessly, except that the gear cable was reinstalled incorrectly so the gears didn't work when I got the bike back, but it was easy enough to fix that I could do it myself. Second time around, I had a ticking noise in my handlebars and asked them about fixing it. They noticed that my chain was a bit loose and suggested they do an annual checkup as well for about 30€ (don't remember precisely). It sounded like a good idea, as long as they also fixed the ticking. They didn't manage to do that though, but managed to tighten the chain as tight as a guitar string so it would rattle and grind as I biked. So I went back with the bike to have that looked at, and they told me a story about wear and tear and that the bike was just fine as it was. Only after googling the problem did I realise that the chain was too tight and fixed it myself. I have no idea what else they did for the 30€ except tighten the brake cables (which I would have been able to do myself in 30 seconds). Went to another shop to fix the ticking for 14€. Conclusion: Go to another shop first.

Really really bad experience. I have noticed that the…read moreCustomer is King motto does not apply to many shops in Berlin, Bötzow rad is no exception. Please bear with me while I explain why I gave a 1 star. My girlfriend bought a Holland styled bike that had the Bötzow Rad logo on it, so one of their own bikes. Within 1 day the back tire was flat, the mud guards on the back were falling off, and the front light had stopped working. Disappointed we took the wanting a full refund as obviously the bike was faulty. We were told by a worker that a full refund wasnt possible and that the bike wasnt faulty, we had done the damage ourselves, and that we should have brought it back straight away.(living and working in Xberg, we had to no time untill the weekend, so 4 days after the purchase) I couldn't believe it. I tried to talk to him but he wouldn't listen, we decided to choose another bike and loose 40 euros, as we didnt want the dud. As we were trying different bikes out I noticed someone pushing the exact same bike that my girlfriend bought up to the shop. The worker tryed to block him from my view and talked to him very quietly. I walked over to the person and asked what was wrong with his bike, I stood there totally shocked as he listed all the above things that had happened to out bike, plus more, as I went to the worker he angrily said shieß fahrrader. He knew these bikes were duds, tried to blame it on us, and still would not give us a full refund. We ended up purchasing another bike, and would never never ever go back to that shop to buy anything. EVER.

We absolutely LOVE Alex!…read more My husband and I were in Berlin for a week and decided to use Alex on our first day for a 3 hour private tour (he was recommended by our hotel concierge). It was one of the best bike tours we have taken. Alex was so informative and a wealth of knowledge. In fact we liked it so much we did a 5 hour tour 2 days later. The E bikes are newer and very easy to use. The custom map he provided is very detailed and easy to read. Don't miss the Baklava in the Turkish area, it's to die for. I learned more of German history, architecture and culture in 2 days than all my years in school. I would highly recommend Alex's company for bike rental and guided tours.

I dont think I have ever written a review - let alone a bad review - but I'd suggest people don't…read morerent their bicycles here. The owners are super friendly people, but they rent older bicycles with broken gears (suddenly jumping to other gears while you are riding through traffic at full speed), brakes, sadles etc at the usual prices that in other places get you fully tuned recent/new bicycles. The first bike I rented I returned, and then I tried three of their other bicycles. Sadly they all had similar issues. I told her she potentially set the business up for liability issues among others (imagine someone getting killed because of a silly avoidable bicycle malfunction..), but she seemed unconcerned and she seemed to just put the bicycles back to be rented out to the next person. For the record: I am Dutch and have biked since my 4th. I have pedaled all around New Zealand, Europe, and in many places in the US), often on rental bicycles. Sadly I have never seen such a poor bicycle product such as this. For now, I hope to go back to never writing (bad) reviews again ;-)
