Itzel is hands down the best person I have dealt with at the South Austin branch. I had fraud issues with my debit card on two occasions recently. Thank goodness I got Itzel both times. Each time I went in the bank, she waved me into her office immediately! She is knowledgeable, efficient and kind. She put me at ease and both times took care of everything. I received a refund for two fraudulent charges and second time she filed a dispute for another fraudulent charge. My experience with Nadia and Keith in Collections was extremely frustrating and unprofessional. I visited the downtown branch today, where a very kind relationship banker helped me seek information about the collateral securing my auto loan. Collections had previously told me I would receive outside communication from "Legal," but I never received it. Our sole purpose in calling was to obtain a point of contact or follow-up information. When Nadia answered, she ignored the banker's initial request and immediately began discussing the status of my loan. She did not realize she was on speakerphone, and the office door was open, so sensitive details about my situation were being discussed where others in the branch could hear them. She focused heavily on making sure I understood that I owed Velocity money--even after I established another promise to pay--instead of addressing the reason we called. Both the banker and I repeatedly tried to redirect the conversation, but Nadia continued cutting us off and treating us as though we had called for a routine loan update. She even said, "It's good you went to the branch, but we can handle that over the phone," while still failing to answer our actual question. Eventually, she said I could contact Legal but provided no contact information. After another 30-45 minutes of the banker going back and forth with the branch manager, I was finally told that there is no Legal department or contact available to members. If that is true, Collections should never have told me to expect outside communication from Legal or suggested that I could contact them. I have been a Velocity member since 2015 and have held multiple accounts and loans with the credit union. Throughout this experience, I was treated like someone trying to avoid paying a debt instead of a longtime member seeking help with a legitimate collateral and title concern. Even if Velocity cannot resolve the underlying issue, I deserved a clear answer, respectful communication, and to be heard without constantly being interrupted. If I could give negative stars I would! I have had nothing but problems from day 1 with this credit union. You can go in talk to someone and they will tell you 2-3days for holds, those 2-3 business days come and go and you call them and then your told oh not it's actually 6 business days call back in and someone else will tell you oh no it's 10 business days! I guarantee if I were to call back right now I'd get someone that will tell me 14 business days! Then they are super shady they want you to send screenshots of payments clearing other banks in order to release it earlier than whatever day the person on the phone seems necessary or right for your funds to be released! So if you like your money to be in limbo and hanging out in bank space then I suggest this bank, but if you need YOUR hard earned money and need it now and not when whoever you speak tells you from the random number in their head I would suggest going to another credit union! read more

Always friendly and helpful, best Bank I have ever used. the only thing that bothers me is the new ly installed Drive through ATM machines that replaced the window and tubes. The machines do not recognize cash well and checks seem to trouble them also. I now deposit checks remotely and deposit cash inside the bank. read more

DO NOT BANK HERE! CHOOSE A REPUTABLE REAL BANK NOT THESE FRAUDS. I recently had my debit card stolen - my guess is electronically because the debit card never left my possession. In the past, banks have immediately returned money fraudulently removed from my account, but not Velocity. They are saying it MIGHT be returned after a 7-10 day investigation by their team. Do not bank here, they do not care about stolen money and I am probably out nearly $700.00 due to their negligence and incompetence. As soon as this matter is resolved I am going to be closing down my account and going to one of the big guys like Chase or Citi who actually know how to do customer service. Literally might have a broken ankle. Heading to the Doctor right after this for X-Rays. I have a little bit of time before the Doc appt. I decide to go get a form I need from VFCU. I go through the drive thru and provide all identification to the teller. I explain to the teller in advance that I need a tax form for an account and provide all the information. I tell her that I am headed to the Doctor for a possible broken foot that just happened earlier, which is why I am asking them to print it at the drive thru. Teller and a Supervisor refuse to do it. They say it is not possible for them to go to the service desk or a banker for this and then provide to me in the drive thru. I again repeat that I believe my ankle is broken and it will be painful for me to hobble in. They again refuse to help. I painfully hobble into the branch and explain what I need to the service rep. They have a banker that comes over ask me what form I need and my DL. They had all of that info in the drive-thru by the way. She brings me out the form shortly after. Now you are telling me VFCU that you couldn't have gone to the banker while I was in the drive-thru, and said "We have member that needs this form printed out that has a broken ankle and it would be hard for him to come in"? How hard would that have been? The Banker didn't ask me any questions, didn't need any more identification. You literally force a client with a medical injury to come into the branch. You offered no help and choose to be lazy. There was no one else in the drive-thru at the time. If the drive-thru was the issue the "Supervisor" could have offered to have someone bring it out to the car once printed to avoid making a man with a possible Broken Ankle come in. Just Saying!!! Also, they said their computer system cannot print a check, it has to come from the north office, so come in next day, well came in next day and it wasn't there. The only reason I use this bank is because my home loan was assigned to it. They continually post my payments late so they can asses a fee. I pay my Bill through BofA online Bill pay who guarantees the payment will arrive on time. When I notify BofA that Velocity posted my payment late, BofA attempts to call Velocity to rectify the problem for me but Velocity refuses to talk to BofA unless I'm also on the line making it more difficult to resolve. When I get on the line a useless customer service agent speaks unintelligently to the BofA agent getting us nowhere. BofA ends up coughing up the late fees sending money to my account just to be able to move on from this nightmare. I have my online BofA bill pay set to deliver the payment to Velocity on the 1st of each month and it's not supposed to be considered late until the 15th. It's unacceptable for Velocity to take more than 15 days to post my payment to my account. This has been going on for 3 years!!!!! Wish I could use a bank that was not scamming me!!!! read more

I usually get great service when I go in here. I don't use the drive through teller lanes a lot. However, every once in a while they can be slow (-.5). Their rates and fees are great and they never took a Bank Bailout. Non-profit banks really are the only way to go. The fact that they are non-profit should tell you a lot. They won't try to nickel and dime you to death like the big corporate banks. They recently just got a mobile website (m.velocitycu.com) too and that makes it really easy to check your balances or make transfers on the go. You can also take in loose change and have use the machine in the lobby cash it for free if you are a member. Overall I am very happy with them. 4.5 Stars read more

What a joke ! This place every since the Merge that wa snot needed everthing is downhill ! But their cusotmer service to us customers is horrible and unacceptable ! They use being closed for Coivd already way to lond and have no intensions of assisting their cusotmers. I hve been a member since 1996 and they are treating their cusotmers horrible and have no intentions of opening any time soon because they are a union bank . They charged my accounts retun mail fees and sent me checks with my phone number wrong with first 3 digits my cell numer and last 4 digits with my ss number ,how dumb and incompentiate is this ??? Not to say I made an appt with a sheet long lsit of errors the bank had made. Then they changed my address on all my accounts which is 5 accounts. So then my debit card was declining because of sip code . Then they merged my 2 kids savings accounts together and gave my oldest daughter access to my saving accoutn I had for her since she was 2 years old !!!! Money was withdrawn by her because she thought it was her own account since she too has a checking and savings account in her name now as an adult . I never had this problem till now ,but my boss an attorney said I should file suit ! After spending 3 hours in an actual location on Slaughter lane and the exact next day I had more mail retun fees on my daughters account and fraud charges and still haven't gotten full returns yet. Then I called and they said as long as I was the bank by 5pm I could get my new debit card throught the drive throught I was there at 4:08pm and then by the time I got to the window after the long line at 5:06pm. they tell me the lady is gonethat dones them and I cannot get my debit card because it was past 5pm. i asked for a manager and they did get it to me finally but not to say they had just told 3 other people in the lines next to me NO as well and they would have to come back ! So obviously the lady who does them was in fact there they are just non customer service! .They even made me an appointment and then when i got therre they said it wasn't till 3pm when I wrote and told them no it was at 2pm, they couldn't even get my appoint time right !Then not to say that my father of 88 years old and can hardly drive was made to make an appointment in person because they messed up his account as well . They told him his social security did not match his account .So then he went in and then they made him wait on slaughter lane for an hr past his appt time and then argued the fact no one could have changed his ss # . But the system did with the merge ,so they finally called someone and changed it to the ss # he has had since 26 years of account ! Then they told my step daughter the same thing in the drive through about not getting acard because of time like they did me even though we sat in a line an hour ! Then my brother they messed up his debit card info becuase of address as well they said his address changed back to an old address because of the merge ,then they said they fixed it but it took 3 weeks for him to keep calling ! Then my sister just closed all 8 of her and her familys account because of rudeness ,unprofessionalism , and not caring and so many errors. I will to be looking for a new bank ASAP and my brothers and dad as well !!!! Its obvious they will be losoing alot if not most business becasue they are all so rude and jsut dont care and think they can treat people the way they want and they can because they are getting away with it because management doesnt care either !!!! Everything with this CU is a pain! Logging onto online banking, getting help in a branch, getting help over the phone...they put you in circles! I went into the South Austin branch to get a 15-day payout to refinance my vehicle (because I'd had enough of their horrible customer service) and I had to help the associate set up his printer and show him how to download the PDF to print out for me. Then it was the wrong amount!?!? They helped me finance when my credit sucked, but no credit help is worth this much inconvenience and tiring struggle to get BASIC CU service! Bad bad bad bad bad!!!! I don't know if all these ppl posting great reviews got paid to do that or are some of the owners family members but I would not recommend this place at all they are thieves when you first come in to open an account they tell you that you have to open a membership savings account where you only have to keep $5 in that account than you are able to open another savings account which is a market savings account where you earn a misly $2.15 and a checking account well every time I would make an online payment I would make sure I was using my checking account bc I'm not stupid and don't want an insufficient funds fee well it was quite a coincidence that they somehow would change my account to the savings account that only had $5 in it so I would get charged the $35 that must've happened 5 times within a 2 month period I was left confused bc I know for sure I was using my checking account number for paying my bills that made me so furious I felt robbed by this velocity credit union so one day I was checking my balance when I noticed the curser moving as I was looking at my account balance it was a shock to se someone from velocity credit union tampering with my account balance I swear to God I saw my account balance change twice than I checked back 10 minutes later and my account balance was changed to the correct balance again that was very suspicious so I went to the branch on slaughter to talk to them about what I saw and they told me very nonchalant that I needed to change my account number bc someone was probably hacking my account which was a total BS don't Bsnk there bc they steal your money they have a way of washing your transactions away I took my money and went somewhere else read more

I called to inquire why actual dates of transactions are not showing on my online activity, only the posted dates. The rep stated they were unaware why that was happening on my account and that it would have to be investigated, and they would call me back within 24 hours. Days go by so I call back. Rep says there are updated notes and apologized for not getting a call back. Since their system updated, as of March 1st, there is no record of actual transaction dates on your online activity. He advised it was an oversight when updating the system and they are trying to figure out how to resolve the issue without disrupting anything else. Like others have commented, RBFCU is looking pretty good...Already have a car loan with them and have had 0 issues. VFCU drive through lanes on Slaughter are a joke. They sometimes have 1 person working 3 lanes. Prepare to spend at a minimum 30 minutes waiting. read more

As a memember of VFCU and working as a 3rd party. I have been trying to handle an account for a member. I called mutiple times within several weeks and each time no documents received or they received, but missing one. 8th time calling and spoke with JORGE and advised they received documents, but put me on hold to call the department and than gets back on the phone line stating still missing a certain document. I requested to speak with a Supervisor, he states in a cocky rude way I am a supervisor. I advised them that I emailed & faxed all the documents to customer service info provided. He replies in a rude way, we dont have an email. I provide him the email and advised him to please look at the email that was send because it had all the documents. He was short and rude and put me on hold again. He comes back and tells me they were received, but that he needs my email and fax number. I replied its the same email that send the documents and fax number included. He stated they will email or fax you the document and disconnected. NO other words. I dont understand why he was so RUDE ..... Supervisor you act different and try to assist me, not knowing that I could be a potential customer or that I am a customer. Very wrong doing on his part. I am taking my personal account to RBFCU. PS Some of the people there are nice, but most are rude. read more

This bank has no compassion for human life. My fiancé lost his job and couldn't pay a loan payment. Instead of calling us to ask us about the issues they closed his account with no notice. Then 4 months later when he deposited his first paycheck into our joint account they took it all. I am totally aware that we owed them money and they had the right to take that loan payment, but how they came about it was wrong. No one called me to tell me this would happen, no one notified me that they have been watching my account. No one called to discuss why he can't pay his bill or what we can do to set up a later payment. My car payment is two months behind I am days away from it being repossessed. My cell phone bill will be turning off this very afternoon because I'm two months behind. That first paycheck was going to help us catch up on the things we use to work. I need my phone to accept jobs. I need my car to get there. I had every intention of catching up in this loan but I need my phone and car to make money to pay you. Had a home loan through Velocity. Extremely difficult to work with when trying to PAY OFF the loan. Office hours are a joke.

DO NOT FINANCE A VEHICLE THROUGH THEM!! We financed our vehicle through them and paid it off a month ago. Because we needed the title asap we were told that we could pick up our title at the main branch downtown in 7-10 days and to call ahead to let them know we wanted to pick it up so they don't mail it. So we called 7 days later and they had not even processed for the title because someone, somehow hacked our loan account (how does that even happen??) and was making charges to it and until that was paid off we could not get our title. so now they fixed it and were SUPPOSED to send off for the title and for us to pickup in now 18 days. So we called again days later and we got the same thing.. someone hacked our loan account again so yet again NO TITLE... Again they fixed it and said they were filing for the title right then and to pick it up on such date downtown at the main branch. Well we went to the main branch on the date we were told to pick up the title and guess what, we couldn't pick it up because IT WASNT THERE!! We could not get it because it was an E-Title and they would not get a paper copy and They hadn't sent it off to be released because yet again we got hacked and claimed they had been trying to contact us to let us know we had to pay it but nobody ever tried to contact us by any means, so we demanded they fix it and send for the title immediately and close the account!! How does this happen 3 different times in a matter of weeks and nobody at Velocity caught on.. So now 30 days later they finally processed and sent off for our title (supposedly!) that we now have to wait another 2-4 weeks to come in the mail if we have no more problems. One thing is for sure I will never bank or finance through VELOCITY CREDIT UNION ever again!! This has been the biggest joke and biggest headache ever just trying to get the title for a vehicle that I have paid for FREE & CLEAR!! read more
