I recently switched to Frost from RBC Centura, primarily because RBC Centura doesn't exist in Texas. The decision was entirely uninformed. I was going to join Wells Fargo but I had had a shitty morning, I was downtown, and Wells Fargo was several blocks further down along Congress than Frost from where I was standing. I suppose I'm glad I did. But let's start with the drawbacks. -ACCOUNT GLITCHES It could be the fault of the machine running my card. But my card was embarrassingly declined one night out. I thought maybe I'd overdrawn somehow and got myself all upset. Turns out it was a mistake and I had plenty of money in my account. But I had to wait until the next morning to find out, because their.... -PHONE SERVICE IS ONLY FROM 8:30 A.M. TO 9:00 P.M. As a former client of a huge semi-national bank chain, I am used to 24-hour staffed phone service. It's crucial in times like that night in question. They could at least have an automated service. Failing that, one should be able to look online. But unfortunately... -ONLINE SERVICE IS DOWN FROM 12:00 MIDNIGHT TO 5:00 AM EVERY NIGHT!!! They call it "scheduled maintenance." I call it nonsense. But if you don't often find yourself needing to access your account in the wee hours, this may be the bank for you, because... -IT'S BEAUTIFUL. People may debate the merits of the structure itself ("owl tower," designed by a Rice grad, and guess what their mascot is). I personally like it. But the inside is gorgeous and makes you feel very special. Immaculate marble, fancy wood paneling. Nice Texas-themed photographs instead of hideous paintings or dumb corporate stock photos. Their paper materials have some really nice graphic design. Granted, this may not be the most important thing about a bank. -PERSONAL SERVICE The branch is staffed by a line of tellers AND a pair of "greeters" who I believe to be bankers as well. When you walk up they welcome you and ask how they can help you and point you in the right direction, which is usually the tellers behind them. I got a handwritten card in the mail after joining. -NICE EXTRAS They have cookies and coffee in the lobby and a couple of computers where you can access your online banking. They also have calculators at the deposit-slip-signing-area (I don't know how else to describe it). This is a nice extra touch that makes total sense but that I haven't seen at my old bank. The calculators even have a button on them you can press to call a manager over. Well, not really, but they have a button that says MGR, and wouldn't it be funny if that did stand for manager? -

the text I got from a banker after expressing my aggravat ion and disappointment in how the small business covid19 professional right?

Then on 1-19-26 another CD matured, I once again, requested that it be mailed to the same postal box address. The first CD check was never delivered. I got the check for the second certificate of deposit, but nothing for the first. When I contacted Texas Capital downtown office, Jarren Caraway, the banker I had contacted about sending the checks, told me on January 30th that he had placed the checks in the mail. When I explained to him that only one check had arrived and that the first check was over two weeks late he acted as if it was no big deal and that it should arrive soon. I went to the Post Office and they explained to me that if it had been received they would have delivered it. So now I am playing a back and forth game between the postal service and Jarren Caraway. Fast forward to today February 20th at 4 p.m. and I am still waiting for the bank to let me know if the check has been cashed or not!!! According to Jarren he has forwarded this issue to the "back office" staff and they have not given a status update. Jarren "claims" that only this department can verify if the check was cashed or if another check can be issued. Extremely unprofessional staff especially since it has been over one month and nothing can be resolved. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH TEXAS CAPITAL BANK. This bank will lose your check and act as if $3,000 is nothing more than $5.00. They are totally oblivious to the time value of money when it is NOT their money. An incompetent and unprofessional bank, since I have emailed and called numerous times. I have left phone messages but NO ONE at Texas Capital bank calls back or emails with any information whatsoever. Take your money and business elsewhere !!! I know I will !!!
