Shopping at a local e-bike store made all the difference. We never felt rushed, and Ben genuinely cared about making sure our bike fit our family's needs. The selection was excellent, pricing was fair, and the level of customer service was exceptional. The bike has been amazing. It has plenty of power, cruises up Superior Hill (with all 3 of us) with no problem, and feels incredibly stable--even when I'm climbing into the rear cargo area with our son. I walked into Driven E-Bikes looking for a tune-up, but instead, I got a masterclass in passive-aggression. Ben has perfected the art of the "customer service smile" while delivering snide remarks that make you question your entire existence. He greets you with a grin, but the vibe is pure "I'm tolerating you because I have to." Good luck getting a hold of him, too. Trying to get a response about your bike is like trying to contact a ghost via a Ouija board. Complete radio silence. When you finally do get your bill, make sure you're sitting down. I drive an e-bike, Ben, not a Mercedes-Benz. The prices here are absolutely outrageous. He charges mechanical engineering fees to fix a bicycle. Don't be fooled by the polite storefront. Ended up being five bucks more because of some worn parts that needed replacing, and I bought some new lights while I was at it. Riding home was like riding a completely new bike. I went to Epic BMX yesterday because I needed help with a bike crank arm. I only needed one crank…read morearm replaced, but before really looking it over, I was told the pedal was stripped, then that the crank arm was stripped as well. The shop tried to sell me both crank arms, then said the chain would not fit the new arms, so I would also need a new chain and another part. I was told the size was traditional, which made me question why so many extra parts were suddenly needed. When I asked if we could just replace the one broken arm, he kept saying the arms "wouldn't match." I had to keep asking for clarification before it became clear that he meant they would not match visually, not that they would not fit or function together. I was not worried about how it looked -- I just needed the bike to work. Then I was told the other arm was bent and that everything should be replaced. The quote was $120 just for the crank arms. After checking online, traditional-size crank arms were around $20. I understand shops need to mark up parts and charge for labor, but this felt excessive and like I was being sold parts I did not actually need. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back. This could have been a chance to earn a long-term customer, but the experience left me feeling taken advantage of.
