I chose the nighttime drop off. The metal door slot is easily visible right below a sign that says, "smile, you're on camera". John, the owner, could not be more personable and fair. The service is exactly what you're asking for and the price is more than reasonable. Actually, I would consider the work to be significantly better quality and the price to be very competitive compared to several other garages by me. It's worth a $30 Uber ride each way to this auto shop to have John's team service my vehicle. I won't go anywhere else in the future.

I had been a loyal customer for 11 years. When the countryman died of engine failure at over 110k miles, in June I purchased another older mini cooper. This is when our relationship changed. It was burning oil at an alarming rate, smoke was coming out of the exhaust, almost always after idling for a lengthy time and sometimes upon starting the car. I had it accessed by Murrysville Auto and a part replaced with the stipulation being that might and might not resolve the issue pointing to possible engine issues. Fair enough. I was glad to have honest information to make the decision. When it still exhibited smoke from the exhaust, I immediately made another appointment to have it reaccessed. This time, instead of Cody (owner) who always had relayed the information to me in the past, his mother, Jerrie (President) gave me info stating no further repairs were needed or recommended, that it was burning oil and the solution offered was for me to simply check the oil EVERY DAY. At this point, I questioned outloud to Jerrie in person if they were trying to tell me they didn't want my business any longer. She assured me that was not the case. We then talked and, with Cody in the conversation, as well, a rebuilt engine was found with a cost of installation being 15k. I agreed, thinking a total engine replacement would fix the issues. Before I could pay, I needed to transfer funds for next business day. In the meantime, a new light came on -- the engine reduced power light. This was a new symptom and my research showed it might mean more than an engine alone. I could not, with this new info, afford to pay 15k and not have a total solution so canceled the order for the engine. Now, Murrysville Auto lets me know the seller of the engine was charging a restock fee of 1600. This restock fee was not divulged to me on my paperwork which is unlawful and non-binding in PA. To just be done with the transaction and move on, I agreed to pay 1600. But then, Cody tells me it is actually more than 1600. I stand by the 1600 relayed to me and pay that. Soooo, bottom line I stand by my intuition that Murrysville Auto wanted to sever business relations with me, though I had been a long-time loyal customer and always paid my repairs in full, on the spot, with no questions on pricing or suggested repairs until this car purchased in June, less than 3 months and less than 1500 miles ago. By having Jerrie and not Cody give me the latest non-repair advice of simply checking oil EVERY.SINGLE.DAY which is ludicrous to charging and not divulging a restock fee (first, I would never back out of a contract except I had new vital info), it seems obvious that I will not be continuing my service with them for this car or any other. I have no idea what changed to come to their final ways of doing business, but it is what it is. They are not the same trusted business that I came to trust and rely on all these years.

He says "i expected you to be down here and I didnt schedule any other work because I thought you would show up and now you wasted my time and my money" i told him "yeah I understand how that could be frustrating but i didnt think it was a firm appointment, you didnt really make it seem like it was set in stone" and he just proceeded to tell me that i should have just picked up the phone (he never even tried to call me if that were the case) and he basically just told me to get the f*** out and that he wouldn't work on my car. Funny enough this is the second time I tried to take my car here. The first time I tried doing business with him he treated me like an idiot on the phone and was very belittling, BUT he did a diagnostic on my car and helped me get to the bottom of an issue i was having. He never did any work on my car so I cant speak to his mechanic abilities but WOW is his customer service skills terrible! Dude has some anger problems and no wonder why his car lot is empty every single day when I drive by. You dont get customers by treating people like garbage.

I have now had every single item Tyke's touched either repaired or replaced to correct the damage from their complete incompetence. I've seen very high quality mechanical repairs and not so good repairs and this shop has performed some of the worst work I've seen. Good luck to anyone taking their vehicles to this shop.

Lack of Transparency, Disrespectful and Unprofessional. That's all I have to say about Tao. I brought my car in for a simple job: Replace the AF sensor (B1S1) to pass emissions, complete the inspection, and check a loose bracket near the rear wheel. I clearly explained the order of work. However, the wrong sensor was ordered, and the emissions test was performed before replacing it - resulting in a failure that COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. I had to comeback for re-inspection after replacing the sensor (about 200 miles running). Instead of addressing my original concerns, I was presented with additional costly issues (axle, brake caliber, spark plugs). This was confusing, as I had recently passed a PA enhanced inspection at another shop, and none of these issues were mentioned. I also double checked my maintenance paperwork at Lexus Dealer, my spark plugs were replaced at around 142,000 miles (current mileage ~183,000), which is within their normal lifespan. The spark plugs will usually last for 80,000-100,000 miles. A second shop confirmed there was no issue with them - a full diagnostic were performed. Moreover, the loose bracket, which is the first thing I asked him repaired, was NEVER FIXED. I don't think he did even pay attention to it. Communication was poor throughout. Calls and emails were not returned, and updates were unclear. When I asked for clarification about the new findings, in-person, the response felt dismissive and unprofessional rather than helpful with: "I can't say anything about other shops doing", "Do you trust me?", "Do you want to do it or not?". For the re-inspection (even with an appointment), I had to wait about 2 hours. After reviewing other 1-star feedback, it appears this may be a pattern - customers come in for a simple service but are advised to complete additional, costly repairs without clear explanation. I understand businesses need to make money, but customers deserve transparency, proper communication, and respect. At minimum, the original concerns should be addressed clearly before introducing new issues. Overall, I felt pressured into unnecessary repairs without sufficient explanation. I would recommend BE CAREFUL and NOT FALLING ON low inspection prices or some "good" high/five start ratings.
