In a surprisingly competitive marketplace for cheap all-vegetarian restaurants, this mall food court location of Vege Rama was the best I've tried so far, as they produced an absolutely fantastic dosa with pea-laden potato masala. They had numerous options to build a meal with curries as well, and a selection of salads and (often vegan) desserts as well. They don't have the student discount of their neighboring competitor, but at $9 for a made to order meal, it certainly wasn't expensive. I have yet to try their nicer sit-down restaurant in West End, but after seeing how good the food court one is, I'm eager to. read more

I have never been disappointed when choosing take away from this place. There are a few regular items on the menu such as the irresistible Thai Pumpkin Curry, and Dahl (with rice is only $5), but the menu usually features a different rotation of dishes each day of the week. I usually opt for the "Two Curries and Rice" plate for about $8.50. There is something about eating Brown Rice that appeals to me: the flavour; the mouth feel, the chewiness. Om nom nomnivore!! Vege Rama offers both Saffron and Brown rice options. They also have a range of tasty looking salads and even desserts. All dishes are vegan or vegetarian. I always walk away feeling virtuous for not choosing something deep-fried or fatty, and it keeps you going most of the day due to the low GI nature of the food. Vege Rama used to be in the Post Office square food court, but veggie paradise has now moved to the Myer Centre food court. They often hand out free samples at lunch time to entice the hungry masses. All the dishes are vegetarian or vegan, and there's the salad cabinet with half a dozen different, delicious salads, or the hot box with a variety of tasty curries, pizzas and deep fried delicacies. I tried the Vegetarian Kofta balls, which were amazing! But ended up choosing a large 2 salad combo ($9.50). The portions are really generous and both my salads were so bright and colourful and really really tasty and fresh. read more

If you're looking for somewhere casual to pickup lunch in the city that isn't too expensive yet tastes delicious, then look no further then Vege Rama. Vege Rama is a vegan/vegetarian takeaway outlet that is located in the Myer Centre food court, close to the escalators that leads down to the Queen Street Starbucks. I have to confess that I am totally obsessed with Vege Rama. During a six-week period in which I had to travel through the CBD daily, I without fail ate at Vege Rama every-single-day! I can't quite put my finger on why I became totally engrossed by this place, but it may have something to do with the superb, varied menu or perhaps because of some powerful buzz of endorphins that was released after eating healthy. The odd thing is I'm not even vegetarian. There was once a time in which I boasted amongst friends, "I don't really consider it a meal unless something has died". Look at me know... waving the Vege Rama flag as hard and as fast as I can. If I were to make any recommendations it would be to get the two or three curry special for $8.50-$9.50 and try a few flavors. They seem to change their range daily, but I insist, if they are serving Golden Japanese Curry, order as much as you can, find a spot in the food court and just go crazy; it is the vegetarian equivalent of the Soup Nazi's soup (Seinfeld reference). In addition, it doesn't hurt to get in early when the food is piping hot and fresh from the kitchen. I did notice a decline in flavor as the day progressed however I'm an obsessive fan and all obsessions often lead to disappointment. Vege Rama reconciles this by offering a $6 end of day special - but honestly, Vege Rama at it's best is worth more then it's full price. I am honestly holding back my love for this place. For fear of boring you I'll keep it brief. Next time you're in the city I insist you try Vege Rama and I assure you that you won't be disappointed. read more

This outlet in the Myer Centre food court serves a range of very nice looking vegetarian and vegan food but after reading the reviews, we were here to try the dosa. We were not disappointed! The dosa was crisp and fresh and the filling was extra special with vegetables as well as the usual potato. We thought that the sambar and coconut chutney were excellent but found the tamarind sauce was a little too sweet for our taste. Some extra chilli or heat would have been great, but otherwise this was the best masala dosa we have had for a long time. read more

A must visit for every vegan, vegetarian and omnivore out there! This food is delicious and I always make sure that I have room in my budget for a curry and rice from there. I've yet to try one of their raw vegan cheesecakes, but they look scrumptious! The staff has always been friendly and remember who I am, which makes me feel great about buying there. Vege Rama has quickly become my favorite place to have lunch on workdays as I moved to Brissie. There are always so many dishes to choose from. I LOVE their salad (the chickpea pesto salad is to die for, and so is the one with quinoa and pumkin) and their curries! The Thai Pumpkin curry has to be my favorite thing to eat at Vege Rama. I never get enough of it! I've also tried out the Pumpkin Pie as a dessert but am not a huge fan. Thought it lacked a bit of taste, but it was OK. Overall their food tastes amazing and it's sooo cheap for the great quality of the products and dishes! read more

We've all been there - you're shopping in the city, already got the heebie jeebies due to the proliferation of chain stores and disenchanted youth and you're about to hit the food crazies due to sheer exhaustion. Good news! You really don't have to eat sushi again for the upteemth time (and step away from McDonalds, we both know you're going to have instant buyers remorse after the last bite). Vege Rama is a surprisingly good option tucked away in the Myer Centre food court. There's some scary stuff down there, so it's good to see that there's a really tasty, fresh option too. I can't really make recommendations as everything I've tried is delicious. My only real problem is that their portion sizes are generous and the food is too delicious to waste so I tend to have to heave myself out of my chair afterwards. read more

I like the curry options here, and always get a pakora with plum sauce which never disappoints. Usually quite a line too. Only downside is they don't have more of a selection! I get that it's very small but if you ever wanted some vegan food that ISNT curry then you're mostly out of luck? There's like, an enchilada option but that's about it. read more

I'm not a vegetarian but I love vegetarian food, so when Vege Rama opened up in the Myer Centre it was exciting to have a vegetarian option in the city that wasn't a) all salads and sandwiches, or b) unaffiliated with any spiritual or religious institution. The staff are friendly and dish out generous servings, regardless if you're eating in or getting take out. My picks are the two/three curry specials with a side of rice, and the potato pakoras. The food is reasonably priced, and those items that are a little pricey (such as their delicious range of gluten free cakes and slices for $7-$8 a portion) are worth it. I'd also recommend picking up a home made, chilled mint tea. Deeeeelicious. read more

Rude and terrible food. The absolute worst meal and customer service! Everything was undercooked, had no flavour and it was cold! I had the tofu steaks. I had a few mouthfuls then left the rest. When asked what was wrong with it and I explained what I just stated in a polite way, the waiter's response was "you're probably not vegan and not used to the food". I was disgusted. I have been to quite a few vegan restaurants but don't follow it religiously and I know when food is tasteless, undercooked and cold - you don't need to be vegan for this! Was not offered any type of compensation. I paid for my untouched meal and left! Never going there again. Do not recommend. Highly recommend Vegeme if you're in west end.
