After pushing a bunch of tables together we were happily seated and ordered our coffee and breakfast. The menu was pretty standard with staples such as eggs benedict, omelette and muesli. I ordered the grilled haloumi and thought it was delicious, but some of my friends weren't happy with their meals like the omelette that was more mushroom than egg. Oh well, you can't please everyone but I enjoyed my meal. The coffee was good and our bill was very reasonable considering I had always considered Eve's a high-end restaurant previously. One thing about this place is that the view over the river is stunning. It's got a great relaxed vibe to it, which is probably why it is hugely popular for functions and weddings. Drinks flowed with conversation and we felt very looked after. The meals arrived after a thirty minute wait to much rapture - the wait staff explained the confit was a complex meal to prepare and apologised for the wait profusely, but they needn't have bothered. The succulent flesh and amazing flavour of the duck leg completely justified the wait time. I savoured every moment of what I can only describe as "the perfect dish". Lychee was meant to be eaten with red curry sauce, and jasmine rice provides the perfect fragrant partnership. My partner was impressed with his market fish but lamented that he should have gone with the Eye Fillet - an unfortunate case of post-order remorse. We both agreed that we will definitely be coming back to this gorgeous location. Eves on the River feels so homely and comfortable but in a strong and confident way. Spanish Eggs are traditionally served in a clay pot or bowl, with the tomato & bean mixture on the base with the eggs cracked into it and baked in the oven. Not this version - poached eggs on the side, with the tomato, caper & olive mixture in a separate serving bowl. However, the toasted turkish bread was tasty and plentiful. Coffee was ok and I can see this place being popular during the week with local workers. Maybe I am just over cafes all serving the same dishes with the same outcomes. When was the last time we went to a cafe who served freshly made hollandaise sauce or had items on the menu that truly reflected their style & background?? One last thing, if you are going to have pop/rock photos on the walls - can you please play some music to reflect your design? I would probably go again, but not for a while.

I told her I didn't care about the high rates of exchange so she disappeared for a few minutes and came back to tell me she's in the middle of a shift change and that it'll be HOURS before anyone can help me. Really?? Get some training to your staff on professionalism and not lying to your customers.

Overall one of my favorite places to stay in Brisbane hands down. Their cookies are pretty average though. Honestly not a single thing to nitpick at. The rooms and facilities are great! Although if I must, the choice of large sheets of frosted glass separating the bathrooms from the rest of the room can make room for some amusing situations. If I was to stay here again I think I would pay the extra to stay in the rooms with a balcony & renovated bathroom & larger bed. Although you still get a nice view of the city out the window it's just not the same as walking out onto a balcony.
