Not feeling particularly restaurant-y, I wandered into Broadway on the Mall, a place I had been for years since my school days. I decided that since half of the food court was under renovation, and there were only a few shops open, I would try Sumo for some Japanese Bento.
The Bento boxes start from $7.95 which is a bit of a bargain for the Chicken Karaage one, comes with chicken, rice and a nice fresh shredded cabbage like salad. I didn't expect the world, but when it came out in a little under 5 minutes, it was fresh, it was hot and the salad had a dressing on it which made it taste out of this world. I stuffed all of it in my mouth in 2 mouthfuls and boy was it a great appetizer.
There is a weird little appeal about this place as it has a little inside part where you can 'eat in' and it is little, like a sushi train, but you're all facing the wall. Cute though... not much space, and the air-con was a little cold for me so I sat outside in the 'take away' section. They still brought my food out to me which was lovely.
What a satisfying meal in the big city under the magical $10 mark, will definitely be back for more. read more
