My daughter called multiple vets for her pet rat recently. Rats are not typical pets but this little guy has brought joy to our lives for almost three years and we adore him. Multiple places blew her off when she said a rat, one was downright rude and hung up on her but not VEG ER for pets. They were incredibly understanding, talked about payment options that would work for us and got our little buddy in right away to be seen. They took excellent care of our pet and his needs, and were also kind and caring to my daughter and me. I will absolutely, 100% go back to this ER for future needs.

Happy Easter from Mica, the miracle!
Kristina Amador A.

On April 1, 2026, my 11-year-old French Bulldog, Mica, woke up at 4:15 a.m. in a full-blown seizure. Horrified beyond measure, I scooped my baby up and jumped into the car to seek medical attention. We have a number of veterinary ERs that have popped up around our McKinney neighborhood, but I opted to risk the extra drive to get my baby into the care of VEG in Allen. While I had never experienced their emergency services, I had experienced their customer service once before--when I had the misfortune of losing her brother on Thanksgiving Day in 2024. We found this place by chance after being treated very coldly and callously by another establishment, which led us to VEG. That experience stuck with me, and thank God it did. In both instances, they treated me and my family with respect, compassion, and great care. Mica had three more mini seizures while in their care, and the staff was immediately on top of it. They were very upfront and clear in their communication, making sure I knew what was happening every step of the way. This allowed me to make informed decisions. It was my biggest fear that I would walk into a grave prognosis--which, on paper, it was documented as such: "grave to guarded." Be that as it may, I truly feel they gave my baby the fighting chance that saved her life. Not once did they bring up euthanasia, and thank goodness, because I don't think my heart could have handled it. I prayed to God to let her see her 12th birthday, which was the very next day, April 2--and sure enough, we made it. She is now 96 hours post-seizure, with no additional episodes since. We were prescribed and provided a rescue dose of midazolam in the event of another seizure, and should it happen again, you can guess where we'll be going. Thank you, specifically, to Dr. Majors, Taylar, and Walter. I am forever grateful for how you cared for us that day. You rolled up your sleeves and sprang into action. May you all serve as the example for how services like this should be rendered. From kissing my baby's forehead, to accommodating all of our needs in such a stressful moment, to sitting on the floor with us--it was all noticed and deeply appreciated. Happy Easter, and thank you again for the gift of a second chance at life.

Just 2 years ago, not a single sign of alopecia or weak hind legs, my baby celebrating her birthday.

My Daisy was a warrior. Thirteen years young, strong and resilient her entire life -- no chronic illness, no systemic conditions. Just a case of alopecia, some hind-leg weakness that came quietly with age, and in her final chapter, neurological changes that brought knuckling but no degeneration. She adapted to every challenge with ease and dignity she always carried. She was extraordinary. When her breathing became critical, we rushed her to VEG Allen. What followed were 48 hours I will carry in my heart for the rest of my life. Dr. Hall was exceptional in every sense. She evaluated Daisy's bloodwork with genuine clinical precision, communicated with patience and compassion, and made sure I always understood what was happening. But beyond the medicine -- she and the entire team understood something most ERs don't: that a pet parent needs to be close. At VEG, you are never in the way. I was welcomed at Daisy's side whenever I needed to be, always given somewhere to sit, always accommodated without hesitation. That open-door policy during an emergency is not a small thing. For a dog parent, it is everything. Daisy came in with critical labored breathing that first morning. By that night, she had settled -- breathing more peacefully, more herself. The next day brought more hope: the team began feeding her through a tube, her breathing had eased further, and by evening she had eaten, done her tinkle and her poop, and was resting comfortably on her bed. She couldn't get up still, but she was there -- present, calm, stable. I went home that night genuinely praying and believing we would bring her home the next morning. Dr. Isabelle also took care of Daisy. And then, without warning, the labored breathing returned. I was not prepared for it. None of us were. And we knew -- it was time to make the hardest decision a pet parent ever faces. Dr. Burnside explained us that the struggle is real and we have to seriously think about letting her go. Another worst day of my life unfolded right this moment. Through every single turn of those 48 hours -- the fear, the hope, the setbacks, the small victories -- the technicians at VEG never left her side. They worked relentlessly. They fed her, monitored her, stayed close. Someone was always right there with Daisy keeping an eye. Not because it was protocol. Because they genuinely, deeply cared. You could feel it. Kristi was so kind with Daisy during her last ultrasound and together with tech Edward, they were a blessing to Daisy and me. When the time came, VEG gave us a private room. Quiet. Unhurried. Sacred. We talked to her for little time (she struggled enough, we didn't want to take too long) -- told her everything she meant to us, made sure she knew our voices, our smell, our love. So that when it is our time, she will know exactly who to come running to. We touched her delicate body all over, kissed her all over, cried our hearts out, sadly the scene she had to watch before she said goodbye. To Dr. Hall, to every technician, to every single soul at VEG Allen who touched Daisy's life in those final hours -- God bless each and every one of you. You gave her dignity. You gave me presence. And you gave us both peace. I will never forget what you did for my girl, and I will always return here if ever needed, without a second thought. If your beloved pet ever needs emergency care, bring them to VEG. Not just for the exceptional medicine -- but because they understand that the most important thing you can do for a dying animal is to make sure they are never, ever alone. And they do that beautifully, with their whole hearts.

Dr. Elley Munson visited my dog, and I was surprised that she didn't seem to review Luna's history before the appointment. She even called my dog by the wrong name. At some point, the assistant corrected herself regarding whether Luna had previously been given a certain medication. All of this made me feel like Luna's medical history hadn't been properly reviewed before the visit. The other issue was how Luna's allergy injection was handled. Dr. Munson and her assistant wanted to give her the shot, but they didn't have Luna properly secured before attempting it. Luna got scared and ran away, so they had to chase her and attempt the injection again. The whole experience was extremely stressful for her. She was so uncomfortable and scared that she cried very hard, and it was honestly heartbreaking to watch. They also recommended that Luna wear a cone so she wouldn't lick herself, but they didn't have a cone in her size available for us to take home. I was also told that I would receive instructions a few minutes after leaving the appointment. It has now been three days, and I still haven't received anything. I even followed up through customer service, but the instructions still haven't been sent. I really hope this was just an isolated experience because I've had much better experiences with Petfolk in the past. But this visit left me disappointed, especially because I expect a higher level of preparation and care from a veterinary practice I'm a member of.

Dr Hanning has come to the house to help several previous ones transition across the Rainbow Bridge. I was shocked and appalled when one of my small dogs was attacked and left mangled and requiring immediate emergency care. I live very close (2 minutes away) and called to let them know I was on my way with him and was told they were booked all day and the Veternarian would be leaving for lunch "in a little bit". I explained the significance of the emergency, that I was 2 minutes away, and have been a long term, 16+ year client. I was told "you will need to find some place else". I asked if they could direct me to the nearest recommendation and was told I needed to find "an emergency vet". This occurred at -11am, plenty of time before lunch hour and clearly during office hours. Of course it would have been different if they had said that the veterinarian was already in a surgery, or out of the office. But that was not the case. There was absolutely no concern or compassion expressed, at all. No questions as to severity of injury or circumstances surrounding it. I have never posted a negative review on Yelp for any business in any form, but felt compelled in this case to document and hopefully save someone else from having this experience. There are a lot of Vets and Veterinary hospitals in the area and unfortunately I would emphatically suggest driving right past this one.

When we arrived at Revive, the atmosphere was completely different. It was clean, calm, and welcoming. The staff was kind, friendly, and already expecting us, which immediately put me at ease. Even in the middle of the night, Eddie received prompt attention. While his surgery had to wait until the following morning so that a board-certified surgeon could perform the procedure, I felt confident that he was in the best hands possible. Eddie came through surgery beautifully. The level of care he received in the ICU was exceptional. One of the things that meant the most to me was being able to sit with and comfort him during his recovery. As a worried dog mom, that meant everything. The entire staff clearly loves animals and treats them with genuine compassion. Everyone was attentive, caring, and dedicated to providing excellent care. Communication was outstanding throughout the entire process. Every question I had was answered thoroughly, and whenever follow-up information was needed, the team responded quickly. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this emergency veterinary center. From the doctors and surgeon to every technician involved in Eddie's care, I am incredibly grateful. I brought my baby here because she needed emergency surgery. She died under their care before she ever made it to the operating table. Zazi was my baby, best friend and companion. My mom gave her to me after my father passed away, and she helped me through some of the hardest times of my life. I knew my dog better than anyone. I repeatedly warned staff that Zazi had severe anxiety when she couldn't see me and could work herself into excessive panting and distress. While I was with her for approximately three hours, she was calm and NOT panting. I have pictures and videos showing this. Before leaving around 8 p.m., I expressed my concerns again and was reassured she would be heavily sedated and sleeping until surgery. At 11:11 p.m., I called THEM because nobody had called me. I was told Zazi was "doing better than when I left" and that her panting was calming down. I immediately said, "What do you mean panting? She wasn't panting when I left. Go check on her." I was ready to return. I was then reassured she had stopped panting and was fine. Around 12:20 a.m.--approximately one hour later--I was called and told they were intubating her. This is what I cannot understand. I knew something was wrong the SECOND they mentioned panting. I questioned it, told them to check on her, and was reassured she was okay. I returned to the hospital and repeatedly expressed my concerns about Zazi remaining intubated for so many hours while waiting for surgery. I explained again how anxious she became without me. I asked about removing the breathing tube once I was there because I knew how to calm her, but they advised against it. I am not a veterinarian, but I knew my dog. Why did nobody listen to me? Zazi never received the surgery we brought her there for. She never even made it to the operating table. She died before surgery. Afterward, I was completely distraught. In my personal experience, Dr. Kirsti Novikoff was extremely rude and showed very little compassion while I was grieving. She told me she believed Zazi died because of her back/spinal condition. I was left with serious unanswered questions about what happened during the hours before her death and felt my concerns were being dismissed. I became so upset that I asked to speak with the night-shift doctor instead. The night doctor apologized to me and told me she would hold Zazi's case close to her forever and "learn from it." My dog was not a science experiment. I didn't bring her there for her death to become a lesson. I brought her there because I trusted them to help her and bring her through surgery. Then came the billing. After Zazi died, my family was told there would be NO CHARGE, that our payments would be refunded and even her cremation would be taken care of. Now we are being told we still owe approximately $5,600. I called. I checked on her. I questioned them when something didn't sound right. I told them to check on her. I returned to the hospital. I repeatedly expressed my concerns. I will forever wonder what would have happened if my concerns had been taken more seriously. Zazi was my baby, my best friend and my everything. She should have come home with me. Please advocate for your pets. Ask questions, document everything, and if something doesn't feel right, keep speaking up. Our animals cannot speak for themselves.

During the exam, the attending vet asked to trim some hair to get a clearer view, which I had no issue with. However, when she brought the clippers near my dog's face, my pup--who is typically calm but understandably nervous due to the irritation--became a little uneasy. I offered to help gently hold her, as she is not aggressive and the redness was visible. To my surprise, the vet suggested sedation. I was shocked by this recommendation, especially considering this was a simple visual inspection--not a surgical or invasive procedure. While some medication was prescribed and we were advised to follow up with our regular vet if symptoms continued, I left feeling uneasy and unsatisfied with the visit. In addition, the consultation did not take place in a private exam room, I guess they are see you out in the open once you walk in. Dr. Miller spent that hour combing through vet records, establishing a timeline on her heart issues, calling other vets for bloodwork records, asking me detailed questions -- all while in the room with me -- and ultimately, helped me navigate an end-of-life choice for my sweet girl (with tears streaming down my face). I prayed to god the night before for wise counsel, and the Lord sent it to me via Dr. Miller. I felt bad for taking up so much of his time when there were other families waiting in rooms, but I needed the generous gift of Dr. Miller's time to navigate the difficult choice of ending Apple's life, the compassion he showed me (never abandoning me) while making it. When you enter BluePearl, a triage nurse meets you at the door to sweep your fur baby up, immediately start taking vitals, and get their arms around the situation. They send you to a room to wait. Yes, you wait. But while you're waiting, they are gathering information so that when it comes your time to see the vet, it's not a 5min swoop in and out, they spend time to walk you through observations, gather more details, and help you navigate difficult conversations if end-of-life is required. This is exactly what you want in an emergency vet.

His back legs were not functioning properly and he was having difficulty breathing, so I immediately rushed him to BluePearl. After they took him to the back, I waited well over an hour before receiving an estimate for X-rays, pain medication and initial care, which I authorized. The process felt extremely slow while I knew my dog was suffering. The X-rays provided no definitive explanation. I ultimately agreed to approximately $2,500 in care to hospitalize him overnight with IV fluids, antibiotics, pain medication and monitoring because I wanted to give him a chance. Before leaving, my husband and I asked to see him. He was kenneled directly above an extremely aggressive dog that barked and growled continuously. Trying to comfort our critically ill elderly dog in that environment was incredibly upsetting. This ended up being my husband's final time with the dog he had loved for 13 years. It was anything but peaceful. At 6 a.m. the next morning, I was told his blood pressure had become critically low despite treatment. They still did not know why and recommended continued hospitalization, medication to support his blood pressure, oxygen and additional diagnostics--essentially stabilizing him long enough to hopefully determine what was wrong. The updated estimate was approximately $6,000. I could not afford to continue at that cost, especially with no diagnosis or assurance he could recover. I knew I was going to have to return and euthanize my family member of 13 years. When my sister and I arrived, his condition was visibly much worse. He was open-mouth breathing and clearly struggling tremendously. What devastated and angered me was seeing him in that condition when the hospital knew I was returning to say goodbye. I would gladly have authorized and paid specifically for oxygen or any reasonable comfort measure to ease his breathing during his final hours. Instead, oxygen had been presented as part of the larger continued-treatment estimate, and I was never offered a separate comfort-care option before his euthanasia. Watching him struggle left me wondering how long he had been in that state and why more could not have been done simply to keep him comfortable at the end of his life. The lack of sensitivity surrounding his death made an unbearable situation worse. While my sister and I were in the hospital area crying over him and preparing to say goodbye, staff nearby were chatting and laughing. The veterinarian was loudly discussing needing coffee while another staff member offered to make it. I understand veterinary professionals experience death regularly and must continue functioning, but for the family losing their beloved pet, this is not "just another day." Basic discretion and compassion matter. One nurse was genuinely kind, expressed sympathy and helped us through the process. I am extremely grateful to her. Unfortunately, she was the exception in my experience. During the euthanasia, the veterinarian briefly explained what would happen, administered the medication while I held my dog and my sister and I were completely devastated, and then simply left the room. I did not experience any meaningful expression of sympathy from her. The kind nurse later returned and helped us afterward. Afterward, there was no follow-up call or personal acknowledgment of our loss from the hospital. When my dog's ashes were returned, the envelope included generic grief brochures, but no sympathy card or personal message. I have previously received more compassion after euthanizing a pet at a veterinary office I had never even visited before. I understand emergency veterinary medicine is expensive and doctors cannot guarantee outcomes. But this was my 13-year-old dog and a member of my family. I went to this hospital desperate to save him and spent thousands of dollars trying to give him a chance. Yet from the estimates and escalating costs while he was critically ill to the lack of personal acknowledgment after his death, the entire experience felt painfully transactional. At times, I felt more like I was trying to buy a used car than desperately trying to save--and ultimately say goodbye to--a beloved member of my family. When it became clear I was going to lose him, what I needed--beyond medical care--was compassion, sensitivity, clear communication and a sense that his comfort and dignity still mattered. That was not how I experienced his final hours. This was one of the worst days of my life, and I will carry this experience with me for the rest of it. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this hospital.

They got to know both of my dogs and me very quickly and always know our names. The facility was nice and clean when I got to inspect it but it is a bit on the small side. Yes, there are facilities with huge outdoor pastures but you're also going to pay an arm and a leg for those. My dogs? They don't care where they are...they just want to play with other dogs and people and get a lot of attention, and that is what they get here. I bought a pack of daycare passes to save some extra dollars and they were one of the better deals in town. There was a place with a better price and facility but they weren't located near the freeway so that was a dealbreaker for me. This place also offers grooming. The groomer is a positively lovely girl. The price is solid and she does a good job. I'm super particular about how my poodle is groomed though so she isn't my regular groomer, but if I had any other breed I'd feel confident taking them here. I was running a few minutes late one night and they were able to accommodate me so that I could get my dogs just a few minutes after closing time and I really appreciate them being able to take care of me like that. I highly recommend this place as a daycare, boarding, or grooming facility for your pups. My dogs practically leap out of the car when we pull into the parking lot here....they love it.
