From the moment we walked in the door with our kitty, everyone was so very lovely. I was so amazed at the open space, community and that all of the staff where appropriate were on the floor to interact at the patient's level. I've never seen anything like it before. It was wonderful. We were seen quickly in a separate room but the experience wasn't any different. Even though our kitty is sweet, she is semi-feral but they wired magic with her calming her down and allowing them to look her over. She was taken care of and diagnosed as well as sent home with medicine to be able to get in to see her regular doctor in several days. Didn't make it feel like my questions, emotional reaction, and etc were an "overreaction" Dr Taylor Nealy was the vet who was working with me and I cannot sing her praises enough. I've taken my bunny Louie here twice already and both times have truly been such a blessing. EVERYONE at VEG is so nice and so kind. This facility is phenomenal and I couldn't be more pleased with the level of care that my cat received after presenting with an intestinal blockage that required emergency surgery. First, he was immediately evaluated and I was there every step of the way. This open model of treatment (where you can stay with your pet) makes a very stressful time for the human and pet significantly more tolerable. Second, the vets were skilled, thoughtful, kind and exceptionally transparent. They went out of their way to keep me informed (every few hours) on my cat's status and did their absolute best to get him home quickly. I even went to visit the following day and was permitted to take as much time as I wanted with him. Finally, while the care was indeed expensive, it was as costly as the care I've received elsewhere and the team went out of their way to be mindful of costs and time. The entire team was helpful and friendly and everyone went out of their way to be accommodating. I had a perfectly competent experience at another local emergency hospital several months ago that had the usual---long waits, staged evaluations over many hours and minimal communication, but after this experience, I wouldn't go anywhere other than VEG for a veterinary emergency. I would absolutely recommend VEG. I had to take my 120lb dog to VEG yesterday due to symptoms of (life threatening) bloat. The whole team there was amazing to work with. They moved quickly and had him in X-ray within minutes of me showing up. My dog was being aggressive to everybody but the staff and Dr. Crocker were patient and wonderful in spite of it. They let me lay beside him while he was sedated before and after surgery. I was reaching out after seeing the good reviews, and while explaining that my 3 month old kitten was recently diagnosed with feline parvo and I was seeking help for him -- JENNIFER rudely interrupted me and said with a very awful tone, "What are you talking about? What is feline parvo? Okay veterinarian emergency group on Fitzhugh Avenue and 75 is the greatest veterinarian establishment that I have ever visited number one I had a two month old Great Pyrenees who caught parvo I came here they allowed her to live with their professional help and services. Number two same Great Pyrenees bitten by a copperhead snake about a month ago came here anti-venom.. she's well and alive. Today I arrived at 7:00 a.m. with my other sweet animal Hercules a 16 year old brown lab who was showing some disturbing signs of weakness and possible congestion. I presume she had eaten a bone and it was lodged in her digestive system. But when I arrived I was greeted by Dr Bedoya, Adriana Gianna Haley Molly Sarah and the manager Stacy. This team works so hard on my 16 year old lab who I thought was going to die only to find out after some Diagnostics that it's partially due to his Advanced age and possibly some digestive issues that they prescribed a remedy to resolve it totally within a few days. That's where sonogram some blood work and some medication I'm ready to leave this place so happy so grateful but these people took the time to treat me like I was special not to forget the terrific care they gave Hercules and who happen to tag along with us Angel the Great Pyrenees. For what I'm saying is I'm totally satisfied I've been here before I know what to expect these people are blessings. Their attitudes were unremarkable at 7:30 a.m. everybody was hard at work trying to please customers and taking care of normal routine. I'm sorry this is so long but I can't stop thinking about them and how much of a relief they've given me at a very reasonable price so that I can go on my day knowing that my 16 year old brown Labrador is going to be okay and live hopefully longer than me. If you're ever in the unfortunate position of having to take your baby to the ER, this is the place to go. I could tell they were kind when I placed my initial phone call on Sept 25 2023. My 7 year old girl was panting and trembling at rest so I brought her in. The front desk person (didn't get their name, but they have a cool blue hair cut) knew who I was immediately and could even tell which of my family members were there to see my dog from the moment they walked in (maybe it's because we look alike). Tiffany, AJ, and Dr. Nina took care of us. GOOD care of us. They showed me her imaging and told me my girl had a splenic mass. I was DISTRAUGHT--cancer had not EVER crossed my mind. They said they're so glad I came because those things can rupture quickly. I was so overwhelmed and in shock (it was also 2:30 AM) that they took me to a room to breathe and think about my options. They were so kind and compassionate even when breaking such awful news and with a room full of other very sick patients (you could tell they cared about EVERYONE in that room). These folks are angels--their professionalism, their expertise, and their thorough-ness saved my girl. Their visit summary was everything my primary vet needed to confidently treat my girl. I ended up taking her home for the night so she could be comfortable (she hates the vet--it's not personal!) with the meds they gave us (a pain med and a med to reduce chance of bleeding). 12 hours later my primary vet said they could take out the spleen and the mass and they did. My girl is at home recovering now, she pulled through surgery! They didn't just save my girl, they saved me and my family as well. I took four dogs for some very itching they said due to fleas they gave me dog shampoo that I could have bought at Walmart after leaving there and paying $500 for four dogs I had to take them to another vet and spend $300 for the same $4 for severe itching the vet pointed out that one dog had some type of mites on its back that were small and white looks a little bit like dandruff. Two dogs has had severe fleas and the other had some type of dermatitis skin issue and all they gave me was flea shampoo. 3 months later the dog still have the same issues except the mites are on three dogs now. read more

Not the end of the world, but it was evening and the vets were closed and they were open. My only negative comment was communication on cost. After checking her vitals they came back with a treatment plan of $925. One thing that would've prevented this is basic clear communication at the front desk on what just showing up will cost, which is $190. The practitioners were very nice but experience felt like buying a car at a ford dealership. They give you a price on the car that is wildly inflated, and then you have to go back and tell them 3x that you don't want the windshield coverage for $2,800. Then you have to go back a fourth and fifth and then throw up your hands and say, something doesn't feel right here. I somehow googled "ER Vet near me" and this place was the first to populate on my phone. I just saw the 4.8 star rating and made the very fast decision during a very traumatic wake up call by my cat at 2:20 am. As soon as we walked in, they asked for a summary and with super human strength, all staff was on deck in a blink of an eye. The doctor didn't hesitate to know what to look for to get us some answers and we got answers within the first 10 minutes of bringing Jinx in. I loved the fact that we were able to be with him from the moment we walked in until the very end of my boys life. We got to be a part of every test and everything in between that was being done to him. There were no surprises. The staff was empathetic and sweet and alert even in the wee hours of the morning. Our boy didn't make it home with us but we will be eternally thankful for finding this place because my boy was so so loved for 14 years until the very end of his life because of this doctor and staff. An animals life can sometimes feel neglected by these types of places but, this one is different. Please believe it when I say, we couldn't have done it without them. One of the worst nights of my life, I took my 15 year old papillon to VEG. Having a 15 year old dog, I'm aware that health issues will begin to roll in, but VEG handled this with the upmost care. After multiple seizures, they took him in, asked me to stay in front of my baby so he knew he was safe and helped get him comfortable. Their philosophy of allowing the pet owner to come and go (or stay) as they please, and have full visibility of what's going on was such a comfort. I've been to other vet hospitals where you sit in a waiting room for hours with no idea of what's going on. That is NOT the case here. They're very transparent of what's going on, what to expect, and how they're treating your pet. I've never had so much comfort with my little man ever. If you ever have a vet emergency, THIS is the place !!! It was not the closest to where I live but I can't imagine having a different experience when my little man was in much much need of the best care!!! I was there on a Tuesday at 12AM, 2AM, and 230PM. My dog is 5 year old chihuahua. She had not used the bathroom, for two days, and she also started experiencing paralysis in her hind legs. She is able to stand on her front legs, but unable to support her weight using her hind legs. I brought my dog into this clinic on April 29, 2024. The veterinarian pinched my dog's right hind leg/toe. The veterinarian did not see a physical response from my dog, therefore she concluded that my dog had a slipped disc in her spine. The veterinarian stated that my dog was in A LOT OF PAIN, she would never be able to defecate or urinate on her own, and that she would never walk again. However, my dog was still moving her tail and she showed no signs of pain. The veterinarian stated that the only solution was to put my dog down. She was nice about it, but she put a death sentence on my dog, based off of a simple pinch of a toe. She didn't even perform an x-ray or anything. I was devastated..... The veterinarian kept insisting that my dog is in a lot of pain and euthanasia would be the most HUMANE option. The vet even stated that she, herself, has a slipped disc and that she experiences discomfort and pain, regularly. She was really selling her narrative. However, I was determined that there had to be other options. I decided to do my own research. I went on YouTube to find a DIY doggy wheelchair video, and on one of the videos; a commenter stated that CBD oil drastically improved their dog's paralysis. Well, I'm glad I didn't take the veterinarian's advice, because after a month and half of CBD oil, my dog has regained use of her legs (around July 20, 2024). She is walking, running, and defecating/urinating on her own. If I had followed the advice of the veterinarian, MY DOG WOULD NOT BE HERE. I honestly wish that the veterinarian was more empathetic in her approach to the situation. She didn't give me any other options, besides euthanasia. Furthermore, she kept pushing it like it was the best/only/humane option. People go to a veterinarian for their knowledge and expertise, and my experience has left me feeling like I did not get, neither, her knowledge nor her expertise. And to the general public, try CBD oil on your dog. I have never been a proponent of CBD oil, because I thought it was like snake oil. My foster to adopt 7 week old kitten went in for his booster/preventative shots and within 24 hours he wasn't eating, drinking, or really responding to me and touch. By 11 pm I noticed his face was extremely swollen and that he was barely responsive as well as hot to the touch. I decided to bring him here in the hopes they could tell me what was going on without it costing a limb and a half. After the exam, the doctor gave me 3 options 1) we give him a couple injections and fluids treating it as an allergic reaction to the boosters: would cost a finger or two 2) we sedate him and take some X-rays to make sure he didn't fall or run into something injuring his jaw: would cost my entire checking account and a portion of savings or 3) we sedate him take the scans more in depth and do an oral exam to make sure he didn't swallow something sharp and get it lodged: would cost my entire checking account and 80% of my savings account I took 1.5 years to build. My rent is due tomorrow and I have my $600 car payment to make so I had to go with option one and was told he may not make it through the night but if he did to rush him to my vet (Dallas animal services foster medical team) to get the scans. I was devastated because I planned on adopting him and I'd worked on nursing him, transitioning him from bottles to slur to gruel and have given him every dose of dewormer, antibiotics, and probiotics for WEEKS. He was a runt with a URI who's sister didn't make it which tugged my heart I couldn't not take him home even if it did cost my sleep and sanity the next month. For him to have overcome weighing 11 g to now almost a pound and a half and to have made all this progress for me to now not be able to afford to save his life I hated myself. Nurse Emma talked to the doctor and worked some magic and was able to cut the price down to half of what it was about to cost me. I brought him home at 2 am and by 5:30 he was eating!!! I spent all morning praying and pacing and I'm not normally religious but this little guy had me hysterical. The only reason he's still with me as of 8 pm is because of the staff here and their care and concern for his wellbeing over profiting on him dying. I will forever use this place and be grateful. Tonight my son's pet Netherland dwarf rabbit ran across his bedroom floor and got hooked by a treble hook fishing lure we'd just bought at Bass Pro Shop. I couldn't see the hook to get it out and the pet rabbit was crying and freaking out. Too much stress can kill a rabbit so my wife and I were quite worried. We called around to a couple vet ERs, and none took rabbits, though one recommended VEG. We brought him over and there was no wait. He was taken back, sedated, and the hook was removed safely. He's excellent now, albeit pretty loopy from the medication. Staff was exceedingly friendly and the bill was less than I'd feared it would be. This is our second trip here this week with a sick little dog, Veterinary Emergency Group has been immensely attentive and has treated my little dog with care and compassion. I watched them treat every patient that came in the door with so much genuine concern and tenderness for both the patient and the worried pet parents. I love that the on-site doctor will talk to you on the phone and answer any questions prior to our visit and let us know what to be concerned about that warrants a visit and what could potentially just be minor. All of the texts are so sweet, I highly recommend bringing your pet in the event of an emergency. read more

**Update** We were back at VEG last night. Unfortunately we had to say goodbye to our Coco bear. VEG delivered exemplary service. I was extremely stressed and Dr Crocker remained calm, kind and professional. All the staff who helped us, from the front desk to the nurses were just so amazing and supportive. Thank you so much. I sadly had to take our parrot in for help in crossing over. The facility was busy but clean and the people I dealt with were quite understanding that it was time to ease her way. She had been ours for about 30 years so it wasn't easy but I couldn't watch her suffer. The decision was made and staff made it easier and were all caring and understanding. We rescued her years ago and tried to give her a good life, VEG helped make sure she had an easier end. read more

Great emergency veterinary service! My dog Blue had swallowed one of his toys and was nonstop throwing up in the middle of the night, so I took him to VEG. Everyone there was extremely kind and made sure Blue and I were both taken care of. One tech specifically, Dakota, was AMAZING with Blue, especially because he tends to get very anxious and restless at the vet. She was so patient and caring with him, and overall made the experience a lot smoother! With the X-Rays taken at VEG, my dog was able to get the surgery he needed to remove his long lost toy and is now on the road to recovery! unfortunately, had to bring our senior adopted pitbull here twice in the past few months for ruptured disc due to IVDD with other issues. the second time we had to put him to rest. the ENTIRE staff was extremely kind, patient, professional and knowledgeable. they let us have as much time as we needed in a private room and were very attentive throughout. They helped make a horrible day/decision go as well as it could have and I will always be so grateful. read more
