It was the worst horrific experience! Not only did it almost cost my dog's life but also leave me with huge vet bills. Months ago, my senior dog started to cough a lot and breathed really hard. It sounded like she was drowning. We took her to The Vet House at Richardson. After diagnosis, the vet told us she had an allergy so the vet prescribed antibiotics. Even though I have a doubt. My dog never had an allergy problem. However, we choose to trust the professional. After finishing the antibiotics and taking allergy medicine every day. My dog got worse. One day she laid on the floor and couldn't get up and breathed very hard, We had to rush her to the emergency hospital. My dog's oxygen level was down to 64% (normal 95% and above) so the hospital vet quickly gave her oxygen. After the x-ray, The hospital vet found out that there was a lot of fluid around her lung and heart. The hospital vet started to drain the fluid for her. I thought I was going to lose her. I called all of my family and brought my other dog to say goodbye at the hospital. Luckily she got better after draining the fluid. Now, she has to take a lot of meds for life. We went back to The Vet House at Richardson to prescribe my dog's meds the next day. I asked the vet about the last diagnosis. The vet told me my dog's lung was clear last visit but we brought my dog to see the vet because we were concerned about her coughing and hard breathing like she was drowning for that visit. Why was her lung clear through the Stethoscope? I DO NOT understand! I can order all of the meds from their pharmacy quickly and easily but it would cost much more on shipping and the price. The Vet House won't allow my pharmacy to contact them for a quick approval. I can only get a hard copy of the prescription which my pharmacy has to take up to 21 days to receive and process. I never have a vet doing this. This is my worst experience with a vet EVER! I will never go back there again!I read more

I miss the "old" Vet House. we have been going to this veterinary clinic for over 20 years. I don't know what's happened lately but I honestly do not believe they have the pets best interest a couple years ago. Our dog got into a lot of sugar-free gum and by a lot. I mean about 80 pieces. I called the Vet house but it was about closing time so they told me to come back the next day. Luckily, I knew enough about xylitol to know that it is extremely toxic to dogs so I took my dog down to the MedVet. They were able to get 66 pieces of gum out of my dogs stomach. She was in the hospital for almost 5 full days. When I told them what the Vet House said about waiting and coming in the next morning, the doctor looked at me straight in the face and said if you had done that your dog would not have been alive in the morning. more recently, we took our cat to them to try to shave off some matts. the charged s fortune but the cat was more comfortable. we did not realize that at the time but they did not give her a rabies shot which she was actually dhe. Oh, Now we need to get a rabies shot and they want to charge us $80 because we need to have a doctor do it. When I asked why the doctor didn't do it when they shaved her back they couldn't tell me except at the doctor had left and was no longer at the Vet House. Came in for a check up on my family dog. They had a same day appointment and were able to squeeze me in. The cost was reasonable compared to most vet offices. The technician interviewed me and then the doctor came in for additional questions and recommendations. Dr. Griggs was very caring and made sure any questions I asked were answered. He explained the test results to me and what my options were without being pushy or judgmental about what care I wanted to provide my pet. At times, I have been in offices were you are pushed to make quick decisions without consideration for price, timing or other sensitive issues. If you are a pet owner and you bring your dog in, it's highly likely you already care for your dog. So I respect that veterinarians know exactly what your pet needs, but sometimes it's not possible to fund every test available. It was about $75 for a panel, $25 for urinary tests, under $100 for a pet visit and some shots. With a Yelp offer and price matching on meds with online amounts, I came out spending about $210. That isn't too bad considering all the work I had done in the 1.5 hours in the office. I would say that the vet does not allow online prescriptions so if you are looking to purchase a different medication for your dog, it is not possible. They will match only the medication on hand. But, they are very nice about it and check out was fast. I will definitely go back again because I can trust this office and the prices are reasonable. There's also plenty of rooms. read more

For this procedure they require blood work and x-rays which are unnecessary. 3. They overcharge horribly for the medications they dispense. For example they're dispensed Lasix cost 10 times more than what it cost on Chewy. This is a very inexpensive drug. I'm chewy I got a one month supply for $7. 10 times that's an awful lot. Are the drugs overpriced but not quite that much but still way overpriced. 4. They have a corporation mentality and they're all about profit. 5. I've been going here for six years. Quality has really declined in the last two years and it seems to be transitioning to a volume shop that lacks targeted care. My senior dog with extensive medical history routinely gets a new vet unfamiliar with his history because the turnover is so high here. They also do not permit online prescriptions though they will price match. This is a hassle when nearly every other vet's office is willing to accommodate it. BUT, when my family moved to garland a few years ago my oldest dog had been diagnosed with chronic arthritis and these ppl at the the vet house were absolutely understanding EMPATHETIC, not only about my dogs but about prices and best guidance and accommodating to my dogs. These vets and techs and wonderful front office women really do show how much they love what they are doing and and respect us as customers and animal owners. It took a really good experience with my new vet and his staff to make me reflect on how bad my experiences had been with The Vet House! My first horrible experience with this bunch started several years ago when I called and asked what I needed to do to get a prescription for Drontal. I was told that I did not need a prescription or a vet visit, was asked the weight of my Golden Retriever and to go ahead and come on up to get the two tablets. Fair enough, I arrived there and was charged $150.00 for the two tablets by the front office gal and went about my way feeling that the cost was exorbitant!!! Last time I bought Drontal it was $20.00 for the two tablets via Petmobile Pet Hospital. You can honestly get a prescription via Chewy for Drontal for as low as $3.40, depending on weight. I felt the front office attendant/office manager possibly pocketed the money! My next HORRIBLE experience came when I attempted to book an appointment for the second round of the Leptospirosis vaccination for my Pyrador pup, Barron. Was told to go ahead and come on up on a Saturday and it would only take 5 minutes to administer the booster. I waited in the waiting room for 45 minutes and then after finally ASKING was told that there was an emergency and it would take a bit longer! Again, the front office staff were very surly acting and unprofessional and could of cared less that I needed to leave to meet a contractor at my house! The crowning blow came when I had an emergency with my Golden Retriever that had broken her leg. After consulting with Dr. Swann, we decided at her age it was probably best to put her to sleep! First time I have ever had to do that and I was very upset by having to make that decision. One of the front office staff consulted with us about cremation or a plaster paw print before the procedure. We opted for the paw print and the last thing I told the attendant when paying (they anxiously had their hand out) was that she would see that it get done. I paid the $200.00 fee and left. Never heard from a anyone regarding picking up Bonnie's paw mold. Finally I went up there and the front office girl looked in the file drawer for Bonnie's paw mold and it was not there. She disappeared into the back and finally came out and said that it appears that it did not get done!?! OMG! I was extremely crushed! She said that the Office Manager would phone me, but that call ever came!?! Finally I called and asked to speak with the office manager and had to leave a message. The Practice Manager phoned me back and apologized for the incident and offered to have a plaque made in Bonnie's name. I told him about the horrible customer service I had received on multiple occasion, and he insulted my by saying, well, if you are ok with waiting in a long line for Pet Mobile Service, then therein lies the difference between a brick & mortar vet and a mobile vet. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO WAIT MORE THAN 15 MINUTES AT THE MOBILE VET CLINIC, yet I waited over 45 minutes in THE VET HOUSE lobby and was not made aware of an emergency! So, I have been insulted and over charged for the WORST SERVICE FROM A VET, I HAVE EVER HAD! Don't walk away for this practice! RUN!!!! The vet assistant was wonderful but the actual vet was a little rude with me when I was asking questions about our new kitten. Also, we adopted from the shelter and was told by the shelter (and have it in writing) that our first visit to the vet house was free for adopted animals from the shelter. I called The Vet House and asked how much the rabies shot was and confirmed the first free visit. While we were in the room getting her exam done they had me sign off on the pricing, I saw they were charging me $49 for the exam so I mentioned what the shelter had said and showed her the paper that said the first visit was free. She said that its only good for the first 2 weeks we have the cat and that since we got her over 2 weeks ago that I need pay the $49 (mind you the paper says nothing about timing) but if I had a problem with that she's let the manager know the next day and see if I could get a refund. I agreed and paid for everything that day and waited for the call from the manager. At almost 5 o'clock the next day the manger called me as promised and told me (very rudely) that they would not refund me anything. I very nicely asked her to call the Richardson animal shelter to please let them know to not tell people that if we go to The Vet House that we'd get a free first visit. Which she replied "yeah I'll do that" and then hung up. *I don't mind paying for services im getting but getting false information 2 times before choosing that vet is very disheartening. My family has been patients to the vet house for quite some time over the years. This week I took in my cat, and despite being a bit emotional from worrying about my pets, the entire staff of the vet house was only kind and patient with me. They helped reassure me that my animals would be okay, gave lots of wonderful advice and plans for treatment / paths going forward, and now my pet has greatly improved in mood and behavior already. I believe Dr. Alin Avi (sorry if I got that wrong) was my vet (appointment was at 11:30am friday) and alan (sorry if spelled wrong) was the vet tech. I'm sorry to the team members at reception, I don't remember your names, but each and every one of you were extremely helpful during this time for me, and for my cats, and you all deserve recognition for it. The receptionists and the technicians were beyond kind and caring. My favorite part of the visit, except meeting Dr. Preisst was meeting the cute chihuahua who seems to run then front office! Throughout continuous visits (over the span of 6 months), we were misdiagnosed and given a lot of medications meaning continous office visit fees. They eventually referred me to a specialist once symptoms got more severe and the ACTUAL diagnosis was something completely different from what the Vet House diagnosed. The Vet House tried to imply that we were responsible for "not catching the problem soon enough" even though we had been going continuously for 6 months as stated earlier. We decided to try Vet House as a new vet clinic for our cats because it was closer to us than our previous vet. We had to take in one of our cats because she was having an allergy issue and everything went well during that visit. However, we realized that Vet House never gave us back our cat's records that we brought in to be scanned into their database. Vet House specifically asked for those records for that reason. We realized this about a month or so after the visit because we decided to take her to a different clinic for her yearly shots. However, we found out then that Vet House never scanned in her records AND they lost the original records we brought in. This was odd to me because when we initially handed her to a vet tech the first time there, the tech said the records would be scanned. Of course, we called in and tried to get Vet House to do what they could to find the records but they were 100% lost because the technician that supposedly handled them no longer worked there. Our new clinic contacted Vet House for the records and that's how we found out about this but Vet House never thought to call us after realizing they lost them?? My husband called in and the staff was basically like, "Oops. Yeah, we don't have them. Sorry!" I was bothered by the casual disregard and I eventually talked to the manager (or owner.) His response in the end was, "What did you hope to accomplish by getting those records?" which felt rather insensitive to me. It doesn't matter why I wanted them. Those records detailed all of her vet visits, her birth information, shots given/received, age.. it even had her first collar name tag from when we adopted her. Those records hold memories in their own right. I know it probably seems silly to be upset over lost records, but our cat has been with us for years, and it was important for us to have those records. Inevitably, I was getting nowhere with the manager and said that I guess I would express what happened at this clinic in a review. Only then did he call back and left a voicemail offering free yearly shots. Only after I mentioned leaving a review and not while I was initially talking to him. Not that the goal was to get something free, but it was weirdly delayed. So, here's the review. We paid for our shots at the new clinic and they were much more professional with us. I would have rather paid for the shots than risk having Vet House fumble something worse with our cat. Our pets matter to us, even if their lost records didn't seem to matter at this clinic. read more

I used to trust them without question and thought they were completely amazing......not since I took our new puppy there and Dr. Major hit our poor pup in the face so hard she flew backwards and helped and cried. I now it makes me wonder what has happened to my dogs when I wasn't there and this woman who thinks her veterinary skills are bar none is there and no one is watching. I spoke with the managing assistant of the office who assured me she would be dealt with regarding the issue but that she would still be working there. I don't think there is ever any reason to hit a dog! Especially one that has been rescued and is already scared already. I will never place my dogs in their care again......like I said, how do you know what she's doing when no one is watching? She did this right in front of me and you could tell she "slipped" and lost her temper with my dog and then tried to brush it under the rug.......never again. I no longer second guess myself when it comes to myself, my family, or my Furbabies. There are too many crazy people in this world. If it feels wrong looks wrong and your gut is telling you be careful then do so! Such a shame........they used to be so wonderful. Although we will not be returning .....I was advised that Dr. Major is no longer with The Vet House and I found out she is working someplace called Buckner Veterinarian or something....... I'm updating my review for that reason......its up to you if you're okay with them now or not, we however will not be taking our precious babies back because at the end of the day, she was employed there for several years, I knew she was off from the day I met her years ago and never booked an appointment with her unless I was desperate, so yes she's gone now but again, at the end of the day they hired and kept her for years until we complained and filed a report with the police regarding her assault on our puppy........ I will say that Brian made every effort to address and correct the situation right away and did do everything within his power to correct what had happened. I don't think he was ever responsible for hiring her and I can tell he is a dog lover animal lover and did not at all think this was acceptable behavior. This is such an amazing vet! I brought my precious cat in this week to find out that she had a UTI and a respiratory infection. Dr. Swan and his staff, from the front desk to his techs, were LOVELY!!! All of them were very sweet and showed my cat Sugar as much love as I do. I was very taken back and shaken (slightly tearing up) about the fact that Sugar was urinating blood. Dr. Swan could tell right away that I was upset and waited with me and answered any questions that I had. He has also called me personally twice (not had a tech or front desk call) and made sure to check in an discuss how to proceed with treatment for Sugar. This was my first time going to this vet and it most definitely won't be my last. I have not had a positive passed experience with vets, and Vet House has restored my faith that vets still do care about animals. read more

Our cats have been having issues the past 4-5 years. The first couple times we went to The Vet House, there wasn't a very good resolution to our issues. One of our cats has something akin to allergies. She's just snot-nosed all the time. We affectionately call her "asthma kat." Yes with a K. It's pronounced with a C sound. She did have an ear infection and we took care of that but she's still snot-nosed. We're not sure what to do about that now. Our other cat has been peeing blood for quite some time now. We brought her in and Dr. Major said she was having anxiety and that we should give her kitty Prozac. We followed her advice but the act of pilling her was causing her just as much anxiety as if we weren't pilling her. *sigh* so we decided that that was just the lot we drew. We took our second cat back to the vet recently because she, out of no where, started peeing on everything. If you left a shirt on the floor, she'd pee on it. Then it got worse and she started peeing on the bed. We took her into see Dr. Major and she prescribed urinary tract food to try. We locked her up in kitty jail (aka the bathroom) and in a couple days, she started peeing normally. Totally normally. It was a miracle and we have Dr. Major and Science Diet to thank. I have been using this Vet for both of my dogs for over 6 years. Ever since Dr. Swann retired and sold the business the service and care level has gone downhill. They now try to upsell me on more service that my dogs don't need. They refuse to write a prescription for my older dog that the canine chiropractor has recommended unless i bring him in for more checkups(costly). Dr. Ali is rude on the phone to me and the office staff appear to be unknowledgeable on what is going on. Overall they are all about the bottom line and don't care about my dogs. After a visit with the Dr for my dogs skin allergy they take him in the next room to express his anal glands. The tech brings him back and tells me "he has 2 small masses in his anus, could be cancer. Here is your medicated shampoo, thank you". Obviously I was upset I was just told my dog might have cancer by the tech and no explanation, the Dr had moved to the next patient. I demanded to see the Dr for an explanation. The Dr apologized and gave me a sufficient explanation, blamed the tech and we shook hands and she said come back next month for a checkup. I just started taking my two dogs here. They are fantastic. We'd been going to Campbell Village Vet for years but Operation Kindness recommended the Vet House. It's half the price for one thing, but most importantly they are dedicated to pets and pet owners. My rescue dog was having a lot of intestinal problems for a week and when I took him in they said it might be parvo even though he had been vaccinated, because sometimes parvo is so aggressive they get it anyway. While I waited fifteen minutes for the test results Dr. Major stayed with me. I was surprised she did and was super talkative about dogs in general. The parvo results came back negative. Later I realized she must have stayed with me in case the test was positive and I would have had to put him down. She gave me great advice on things I didn't know even after 20 years of having dogs. I am a panicked parent when it comes to my fur baby, he means the world to me- so when it comes to his health or care it was very difficult for me to take him places. He would even sense it and know usually when we pulled up other places and he would fight me going in- Not here, they are awesome!! He gets out of the car and walks up to the door to see his friends himself!! The vets and techs are great...friendly, courteous, helpful, professional, etc. I have nothing negative at all to say about them. The problem is with the front-of-house staff. They are always brusque and frequently rude, behaving as if you are a big giant pain in their butt and their lives would be so much easier if you'd just disappear. Today when I was in there, the line stacked up four deep while the receptionist was taking her time assisting a demanding and indecisive customer while barely acknowledging the rest of us. Finally someone came out and called the next in line to the back so we could get things moving again, but I stood there for a full ten minutes waching a customer and a condescending receptionist debate the relative merits of different heartworm tablets, all while the receptionist was speaking to the customer as if she was a learning disabled toddler and completely ignoring the rest of us. As long as you can deal with the front of house staff long enough to get to the actual healthcare professionals, this place is great. read more
