Veera is a vegan donut shop with a huge selection of massive gourmet donuts, and for a long time it was one of my favorite spots. Unfortunately, my recent visits haven't lived up to what it used to be. The donuts don't seem as fresh or high quality as they once were. They were noticeably drier and denser than I remember, which was disappointing given how good they used to be. The flavors are still creative, but the execution just isn't quite there lately. Service also felt pushy and a bit rude, which was a contrast from the friendly experience I remember in the past. There's no seating inside, so it's strictly grab-and-go. There's a problem with Veera, the problem is it's in Missoula Mt. and I live in NJ. What a cool place you gotta go. 90's rock is the theme and the place is filled with beautiful artwork memories and awesome tunes filling in the ambiance. The young lady behind the counter was a gem. The owner should be lucky to have her. The donuts are more like little cakes. I went nuts and bought four. I had 3 hours in the car to get back to Spokane and I wolfed down one of my treats. On the way back from Clyde Coffee, I popped into Veera donuts to treat myself. This doesn't feel like a place to hang out and eat, though I think they have a small counter if you want to do so. I was planning to take it to go, and got the OG Maple Twist. My only criticism of Veera is that, in some ways, this place is too decadent for me. I wanted to be adventurous but some of the offerings feel too much for me. That said, I'm sure they're delicious and mine certainly was. I came in because I love a sweet treat and these donuts looked amazing online. The shop is small but they had a huge selection of donuts (and gluten free I think as well) as well as all vegan breakfast items like burritos, crunchwraps, etc. It takes about 20 minutes to get your hot good out and I was pretty bummed that they were out of savory donuts - they said they don't have them daily but are not sure when they will get them exactly which I found confusing. The strawberry crumble donut was probably top 2 donuts I've ever had - so airy and fluffy without being overly sweet. This spot is a (not so hidden) gem. Just absolutely amazing. We got breakfast burritos as well, delicious and filling. We almost didn't have room for the donuts. The donuts were all so different it's impossible to choose, let alone decide on a favorite. They have some simple staples for less adventurous people too! The woman who took our order helped us from blindly picking between all the different options. The storefront is SO SMALL. You do have the option to eat outside at a few tables though. They have one small area to eat inside but it can feel crowded as soon as another patron walks in. Only downside... and it's not a big deal or anything. I went with the blueberry basil old fashioned and the Motherload. Most donut shops do one kind of donut well but both donuts were great. And they are huge! I did not finish them in one sitting. There isn't anywhere to eat at the shop (at least that I could tell) so definitely a grab and go. The spicy sausage, silky tofu scramble, crunchy potatoes, creamy cheese, fresh sautéed veggies, large chunks of avocado, and garlicky goodness in the aioli all make an amazing combo that can't be beat! And if you're a meat and cheese eater, you would never know it was vegan. Also, the danish custard is insane. It was so flavorful and rich but not too sweet. It was pretty huge so I did save the other half for later on in the day. The blueberry basil and I believe it was the Stevie were my favorite donuts. This place is fantastic, it makes me want to take pictures to show my local vegan donut establishment just so I can encourage them to step up their game. I've been hearing about this place 3 states away and knew I had to have it when I came to visit. In fact I stayed an extra night in Missoula as they were closed on Mondays and I knew I couldn't come to town and leave without trying this. Just reading the menu made my mouth water. I'm so incredibly sad that I don't live closer as there are so many things on the menu I want to try. I think I could easily work my way thru the whole menu if I lived here. I allowed myself 2 donuts, although I really struggled to with wanting to get a breakfast sandwich or burrito as well.
