This is the perfect cozy little cafe to relax at on a chilly fall morning. I ordered a hot apple cider and an apple cheese danish. Both were wonderful! I thought the prices were very reasonable too. I'll be back if I'm ever in the area again. read more

I have loved Bernice's for a long time. I used to go in and buy their Blueberry Bran muffins by the dozens!! I quit buying them because I was watching the scale take a little hit so I, with great sadness, stopped buying my favorite muffins!! Today I went in after months of being good with my waistline and bought one of my favorite Blueberry Bran muffins. I was sooooooooo disappointed! The muffins had no flavor. The muffins I remembered had a little sweetness to them but NOT TODAY. The muffin was so bland and boring that I threw the most of it out to the birds. Sorry for the change in the recipe. Sadly, L read more

Delicious coffee and pastries! Such a cute little bakery that's cozy with lots of seating and an outside seating area. Make sure to try one of their cupcakes and a latte! read more

Stopped by Bernice's Bakery for a quick bite while in Missoula. Overall, it was just okay. The croissants were a bit different from what you'd typically expect and the quiche was actually really good. The coffee was solid as well. That said, the pastries overall were a little on the dry side and didn't really stand out compared to other bakeries in the area. The selection also felt somewhat limited, so if you're looking for a wide variety, this might not be your spot. Service was good and friendly, and it worked fine for a quick stop, but it didn't quite live up to some of the other bakeries nearby. We've definitely had better. read more

i was in missoula and looking for something healthy and online reviews said to check out Bernice's so I did. I went with colleagues and one got the soup and i got the hummus plate. the soup was cold and tasted more like a gazpacho or salsa and the hummus plate had hummus, chips and a macaroni salad. the prices for the meals was very good as it was cost effective and the portion size decent. the flavor was average good price, decent portion, mild flavor read more

Unimpressed with all their pies. Cherry pie had very few cherries in it. The ratio between the oatmeal type topping and the cherries is way off. If I order a cherry pie I want cherries to be the star not the oatmeal topping. Apple pie had a better ratio but taste was nothing special. read more

Customer service and communication when taking orders for wedding cake needs to improve for clarity and accountability. Took order for vegan wedding cake, stated it was "all set." When we called to check on status of order they responded they did not have record of order. NO attempt was made to rectify the order. Very poor customer service. Thankfully, there is another business artcakeMT that was able to provide the wedding cake. Turned out to be a blessing, as the owner was professional. Excellent communication and exceptional vegan cake! Highly recommend. read more

Drinks are delish and so reasonably priced! I had the Red Rooster? Iced tea and it was so tasty. We ordered a bunch of cupcakes and they were fun but not the very best I've ever had (in the running for most beautiful tho!) carrot cake was the standout! read more

It was an okay bakery--nothing extraordinary, but it served its purpose for a quick stop with the kids. The selection was fairly limited, so if you're looking for a wide variety, this might not be the place. We weren't overly impressed, but we also weren't disappointed--it's a standard small bakery. We've definitely had better, but it worked for a quick bite. On a positive note, they did have some homemade dog treats available, which is a nice touch for pet owners. read more

I live in Texas, and my niece was graduating with her master's degree from the University of Montana--such a proud moment! I wanted to surprise her with something special, but I was short on time and far from Missoula. Enter Cara at Bernice's Bakery. She was an absolute lifesaver! Not only did she help me quickly choose the perfect treat for my nephew to pick up, but she was also incredibly kind, patient, and thoughtful throughout the process. She even went the extra mile by recommending a local florist to help me complete the surprise--talk about above and beyond! Thanks to Cara, everything came together beautifully. I had such high hopes for this place and it let me down on all levels. I keep seeing this place on all the must try lists, so of course we had to make our own decision. I was so excited to try their food and pastries. The sandwich was not bad, very small but for $4 you get what you pay for. The Arnold Palmer with the fruity black tea was the best thing we had. But the bakery was a huge disappointment. The cookies were rock hard and our day old danish was so dense I couldn't even tear it apart. I really wanted to like this place too We would return for the coffee/drinks but we'll skip the pastries. read more

Amazing coffee and pastries. I had the pesto croissant. Highly recommend. Service was great. Love the atmosphere.

Delicious pastries. Friendly service. Currently under construction but open. Cakes and cupcakes looked beautiful but didn't try them.

Stopped in to have a pastry. We ordered three different items, the blueberry muffin was stale, cold, and not great. Had a cinnamon roll - it was good, had it warmed so I think it helped soften it up. Last week got a scone- again did not taste fresh. Won't be back but it was busy so I'm sure it was just an off day? read more

This bakery is adorable. Due to Covid there is currently only carry out. Which doesn't matter the quality is still amazing. The cookies are good, the cupcakes are amazing and the sandwich's and soups always hit the spot. They had a black bean tortilla soup the other day and it did the cold weather justice! It's small inside and the staff is always busy, but kind and attentive. Be patient, they will get to you right away. There are menus hanging in the window to the left when you walk in! read more

Good quality latte, espresso wasn't too bitter. Matcha was a bit watery but not bad. Pastries were good (garlic croissant and maple pecan bun). Only one entrance/exit was functional, so less to congestion and crowding in the queue. Plenty of seating and friendly staff! read more

Bunch of a-holes working in the front. Especially a brutus-type blond woman who has a severe chip on her shoulder. Doesn't know what the words "customer service" mean. If you can get past that, the food is good. read more

Totally friendly and down-to-earth place - we felt very welcomed and the staff were quick and polite. We got two cookies - a pride themed sugar cookie and a peanut butter cookie. Both were delicious - balanced - not too sweet and substantial. We also got pastries which we ended up eating the next day which may have been a mistake - they ended up a bit dry, but that's our mistake and not theirs. Would definitely swing by if we were in town again! read more

I needed a last minute cake for a birthday celebration. It was a Sunday and everything was closed in Hamilton so I started looking in Missoula and found this bakery. They closed at 4:00 so I started driving, hoping to make it on time. I saw that I may not make it so I called and asked if they'd be there a few minutes past closing, explaining I really needed a cake. They said they'd let me in if I made it there shortly after closing. I pulled in at 4:01 and they were closed. I knocked on the door and they were happy to let me in to choose a cake. I purchased the turtle cake and it was absolutely delicious! Moist and not overwhelming with sweetness. Top notch quality! I'm so thankful for the amazing customer service and OUTSTANDING product! THANK YOU! You now have a lifetime customer! read more

Love, love, love this place it is a fantastic place to grab a cup of coffee, some fresh bakery, or even sit down and have breakfast with friends. They have some of the best baked goods you can find in the Missoula area from donuts to flaky buttery biscuits to a great cup of coffee and a fantastic price you can't beat the service you can't beat the location. It really should be on your must stop list. read more

This bakery is awesome! We drive through Missoula twice a year, and always stop here to buy their pies. The espresso and coffee drinks are good. And their baked goods are fantastic. It's located in a nice walkable neighborhood. Away from busy streets. I highly recommend Bernice's Bakery! read more

This is our favorite bakery! Cakes, cupcakes, cookies, pies, various pastries, coffee, sandwiches and more.....you can find it all here! Their buttercream is the best I've ever had! Every years for about the last 8 years, my husband had bought my birthday cake from Bernice's. The quality is always a 10/10 and so is the presentation. They are on the pricey side for all their items, but I don't mind paying more knowing that the quality I will get will far surpass that of any grocery store! read more

I know it's a local favorite, but I just didn't connect with it. There were no breakfast sandwich options, and I didn't finish my jalapeño cheddar croissant as it was very dry, kinda stale actually. However, the tea latte was excellent. They have wi-fi, but not for public use; it's 2019 you know. The building definitely has charm and history. read more

I strongly advise anyone wanting a special order cake to call at least 6 months in advance, I was told that pretty much every weekend in May was booked because their bakers and decorators are "overwhelmed." How many people in Missoula are spending 60-90$ on a cake?!?!?! And people want to say the economy is bad! The girls on the phone are super snotty and definitely have a chip on their shoulder. One day it's 48 hours the next is 72 hours then a week then you can't even get a cake for a whole 4 day window a month away!!!! read more

I think the products or pastries or whatever you wanna call them are good but I feel like they're overpriced. The cupcake was about four dollars and I think it was about three bites. There are other places in town where you get more bang for your buck. Simply my opinion. read more

We enjoyed our two visits to Bernice's during our stay in Missoula. The staff is very friendly. The coffee and chai latte were good. They have a wide variety of pastries, most of which were good. We have always heard of Bernice's as the bakery to check out. We finally stopped in today and overall, the experience was very underwhelming. We purchased a croissant, muffin, and two cupcakes. All four items were dry and had a tight crumb. We only finished the muffin and the other 3 were thrown out. Bernice's does offer local tea, which we enjoyed. The service was meh. Not overly friendly or helpful. The building and atmosphere was cozy, albeit a little cluttered. Some of the furniture was in good need of a dusting. I wouldn't say we'll return any time soon. read more

My son took me here for a pastry and coffee and I loved it and the people were very nice. Great atmosphere too.

It is a combination bakery restaurant. The restaurant was very busy. The bakery consists of two small display cases with a very limited selection of baked goods. The young girl who waited on me used her bare hands to put my selections in a brown paper bag and copped an attitude when I refused a tip for counter service. The scones were more like stale cake than scones and the cookies ran the gamut from mediocre to disgusting. Based on how busy the restaurant was that might be worth a try but I would avoid the so-called bakery counter at all cost... read more

My husband and I decided to order a gender reveal cake from Bernice's Bakery to find out the sex of our new baby. While there was initially a lack of transparency surrounding some of the charges for alterations, it was smoothed out by the owner, Missy. I really appreciated that Missy went above and beyond to make sure that not only were we satisfied with the cake itself, but with the price and with the sales experience. Now for the cake... it was BEAUTIFUL! Elegant, but understated--it was exactly what we were looking for. And it wasn't just an aesthetically pleasing cake either, it was delicious! The buttercream icing is divine. We are so thrilled we chose Bernice's Bakery to create such a delicious and beautiful cake to celebrate such a special moment in our lives. We will definitely be back to try more of their selection and I would highly recommend them if you are ordering a special occasion cake. read more

Bernice's is good, not great. The coffee is better elsewhere and the goodies are good across the board, but no one thing is, stop I have to stop at Bernice's for that thing that they do way better than anyone else.
