This bakery has many many different items available from savory like cachitos, empanadas, and pan de bono, to sweet like cuatro leches, cheesecakes, and milhojas. I tried the cuatro leches and it was pretty good, but the majority of it was dulce de leche- not necessarily a bad thing because it was tasty, but there was so much of it that overpowered the dessert and you couldnt really taste the actual cake. I also ordered a dulce de leche cake (size for 10 people). About half of each slice was tasty and moist, but the other half was very dry. It's a steak sandwich loaded with lettuce, tomatoes, and a potato sticks (It comes with mayo as well but I always ask to take it out because I don't like mayo) . I have only actually ordered delivery and have been doing so since March 2020....the food is always good and everything is sealed. Delivery comes quicker than some places that are literally down the block from my home (I live in Weston). My husband loves the Cuban sandwich. The guava pastries are always delicious and warm. A great place to get a media noche or a cafe con leche This store is off the north side of the main road (Pine), just to the west of 172nd ave and at the end of a long shopping center with many other stores. There are about 20 parking spaces near the store but even more in front of the other stores. They have a large area in front of the counter and fresh desserts, bread and sandwiches. Their food looked delicious. There are only a few tables in the lobby. I think there are about three 4-person tables and four 2-person tables along the side windows. You order and receive your food or drinks at the counter. We ordered cafe con leche and watched as they prepared it. The menu is on the wall behind the counter. The prices are very reasonable with most sandwiches costing less than $10 and most non-sandwich items costing less than $5. The people were very nice and the food was served hot and quickly. I would recommend this for anyone wanting delicious food and a great cafe con leche at a reasonable price in the area from friendly people in a clean relaxing space. read more

While searching for mami's birthday cake, I stopped here on a whim. Although I didn't really know what I was looking for, my desire was for something different than a bundt or the typical buttercream from our favorite grocery store. I was pleasantly surprised! Vecky's has a great selection, including fruit-tart cakes, chocolate ganache, and the classic Cuban-style pastel or torta de cumpleanos. The Dulce de Leche or Arequipe (Caramel-layered cake) was suggested, so, I gave it a go! Even though I was extremely apprehensive---nothing but the best for mom---I followed their recommendation. This bakery, under new ownership from the Vecky's I knew a decade ago, offers much of the same goodies, but a lot of Venezuelan and other South American choices have been added. I was so tempted by all that my eyes could see, and my olfactory senses perceived, that I couldn't walk away without getting my staples of beef, guava, and cheese pastries, along with some other goodies, like bocaditos: mini sweet rolls w/ham spread and also the ones w/ham n' cheese. I also bought jugo de remolacha, zanahoria y naranja (fresh-squeezed beet, carrot, and orange juice). The experience was more than I had bargained for in all respects. Their prices are moderate though, considering the high-quality and freshness of their food. I was told by a co-worker who lives in Pembroke Pines, that this is also the place to buy your fresh Cuban bread from! I am elated to share that the cake was an overall hit. Even my sister who has a refined palate complimented it! In being transparent, we have spent a couple of hundred dollars for gourmet cakes that weren't as good as this one. Suffice to say that I don't believe I will be driving further east to the bakery chain that spells the name with an "i" when I can come here instead. read more

These people have the worst most expensive natural orange juice in the history of oranges ($5-$6). Their oranges are disgusting. They're tiny yellow/green premature oranges that are super bitter with no taste of a real naval orange. They're Argentinean, which are known for being really cheap. They love to charge you near $20 for a ham&cheese croissant with 1-2 pastries and a drink though. Never coming here again. Owner is some hairy tool that's full of himself with a huge attitude, and his dad loves to watch you like a hawk and charge you for anything you ask for that should be on the house. Latin America gives you huge dark yellow naval oranges that taste amazing. Stop being so cheap and buy fully grown real naval oranges, and cut the cost down. Just because you have no business because your bakery sucks doesn't mean you jack up the prices because you're in "west pines". read more

A classic south Florida bakery chain, this Vecky's is located in the Pembroke Pines plaza on the corner of Pines Blvd & Dykes Rd. Growing up in South Florida, you've probably had to have visited a Vecky's at least once. Or at least a place like it. You don't really go here for the service but you come here for the food, carbs to be exact. Whenever we need something quick to please guests from out of town or to even grab a quick bite for breakfast, you'll probably spot me or my mom here. Their breakfast sandwiches paired with cafe con leche is my fav! I usually get a croqueta sandwich with those little potato sticks; my mouth is watering just thinking about it. I'm not sure if they iced cafe con leches are a newer addition over the years or if I am just late to the game, but having that run through my veins on days I need it most is what gets me through tough ones. Pick up is usually fast and I would recommend knowing what you want because things happen and work fast in here. They also have a lot of baked goods such as a birthday cake or you can pick up a platter of your favorite pastelitos. If you're looking for suggestions, guava or guava & cheese. By far thee worse excuse for a bakery! I am behind disgusted with this place. My co-worker got a cake and guava and cheese pastelito's from here as a part of our boss' birthday celebration. Everything seemed fine. We served the cake, pastelito's and everything else that was a part of the spread. A few hours later, we began breaking down everything and putting things up. I didn't initially have any cake as I am not a cake person but since it was quite a chunk left I decided to bring some to mom and son. I cut the cake, put my piece on my plate and my co-worker notice a spot on the cake still left in the box. I immediately dismissed it and said that it was the icing from the cutting the cake. A little piece of cake dropped and I grabbed it and tasted it. Tasted a little funny but figured "hey maybe it's me." My co-worker kept insisting and we further examined the cake and came to the conclusion that it was mold. That end of the cake was very moldy. The mold was in the beginning stages and hadn't reached the other side or really expand much. Being that this place opens at 6am and we sent a guy (big mistake), he just got what he could get considering we decided to get a cake at the last minute. That won't happen again. The real question is because it was the on stages of mold, just how long was that cake refrigerated? Clearly since he got it early this morning, it was a fresh cake so just how long had it been sitting. The pastelito's we later learned we very hard. By the time I thought about leaving a review, the cake was already disposed of but boy do I wish I would've thought of taking a picture first! Just plain disgusting!!! read more

Vecky's can be very hit or miss and unfortunately you have no say when it hits. Having lived in Pembroke Pines since the late 90s, this is a west Pines staple. And it helps they open at 6am during the week and 7am on the weekends making your morning work commute that much more enjoyable with a croquette in hand. All food and pastries represent the Cuban, Venezuelan and Argentina cultures. This is your typical Latin bakery serving up all your Latin needs; Croissants, empanadas, Tequeno, chicharron, pastries (meat, guava, cheese), sandwiches (cubano, media noche, bistec de poolo), cuban and french breads, salads, and coffee for days. Prices are pretty affordable with the sandwiches being $6-$8 and the pastries running about $1 per pasty. They also offer catering and bake personalized cakes upon request. I haven't taken advantage of either service and can only speak on the pastries and colada and every time they are a hit. The mornings can get a bit busy so prepare to wait a little as they usually run with 2 or 3 employees working at a time. And i will say, it can be a little difficult and frustrating communicating with the staff if you do not speak Spanish as that is the main language spoken here. I've noticed the staff can also get frustrated themselves when a customer cannot speak Spanish. I try my best to order in Spanish so if you know a couple words, give it a try. Have visited this bakery twice several years ago and also before moving to Florida it was a go-to with friends to get some pastries. They have a great selection of pastries like back home, my FAVORITE is the quesito *****! All day, any day, any time! That's the key to my heart! Lol .. Basically, they're filo dough, stuffed with cream cheese, and on the outside they might be glazed or sprinkled with sugar.... LOVE these! Had a Cubano also and it was really good. Nothing like crusty panadería bread toasted and stuffed with goodies for a crunchy warm sandwich! Add a quesito and croqueta in the side and it's a recipe for an Uber satisfying food coma :) It's a drive for me now, but I would gladly make it just for their goodies and great service! I don't even have words for what I just experienced. But I'll do my best to put it into words, for the reader's sake. So I show up to Vecky's at about 11:30 am on a Sunday. They have 3 people working and maybe 2 people ahead of me in line. Somehow, it still takes about 10 minutes for someone to help me. Once I'm helped, I order 2 coffees, 3 tequeños (the number here is important and we'll circle back to it in a minute), and some empanadas. The gentleman gets it all together quickly and my total is about $15. Not too bad. I go to sit down and bite into one of the tequeños. They looked a little soggy, but I was ravenous so I was willing to suffer through if they were a little old. But they were not a little old, they were VERY old. I'm telling you, I'm pretty sure these tequeños had been sitting in the warming case since yesterday. They were greasy, disgusting, and had a terrible after taste. I didn't pay $15 to not eat what I'd paid for. So I go up to tell the gentleman that these tequeños are no good and that I would like something else. He offers to get me some fresh ones, so I take him up on the offer. Are you ready? This is where things get weird. About 10 minutes later, he comes out with a tray of 6 fresh tequeños. I had only ordered 3, but I thought okay this is some great customer service bringing me extras to make up for the fact that the initial ones were bad. I was willing to forgive the whole incident and keep Vecky's on my list of breakfast spots. BUT THEN one of the ladies working there comes out after I had already eaten 1 of the fresh tequeños they brought me and says "I'm sorry I put6 tequeños on the tray and you only had 3." I was like "yeah, and?" THIS LADY BROUGHT OUT A TRAY AND TOOK BACK THE EXTRA TEQUEÑOS SHE GAVE ME!!! But wait, it gets worse!! She put them back in the case for the next customer!!!!! Long story short, if you come to Vecky's, just hope that you don't get food that was already given to someone else and then taken back. read more

Stood there for 5 mins while some girl ( 35 years old or so) danced around while everyone laughed.. someone made coffee for who I would assume is the boss..he never looked up .. 2 other ladies laughing making coffee.. all while never acknowledging my presence...I'm glad they have so much business they didn't need to act like they needed mine. read more

Looking into the kitchen I watched a baker wipe the sweat off his forehead. No mask or gloves . I left . Gloves should always be mandatory when handling food. Not to be confused with VICKY Bakery, as I did... driving down Pines Boulevard and saw Vecky Bakery and it just registered in my head as Vicky Bakery (which are superb and located around Miami). A LITTLE ABOUT VECKY BAKERY: It's an adorable little latin bakery offering plenty of eye candy. They have a few tables to sit during lunch, except that my first two visits the chairs were on the tables (even though I confirmed they were not closing). GLASS CASE No.1 was filled with plenty of cakes and cookies (not something I tried but looked decent enough). GLASS CASE No.2 was filled with traditional bakery items (some latin, some italian, a real mix of sweet treats such as neapolitans, cream horns, eclairs, tarts, et cetera). GLASS CASE No.3 was filled with hot items such as croquetas, papas rellanas, empanadas, pastelitos, et cetera. OTHER STUFF: Beyond glass display cases they offer hot sandwiches, coffees, smoothies and more VISIT No.1: Seemed near perfect, but I was so hungry I probably would have given five stars to a cardboard sandwich. Ate an empanada and a croqueta. VISIT No.2: Nibbled on a couple of papas rellenas and a empanada (good enough to come back but lacking nonetheless). Also got some bakery desserts for the family (turns out this is their strong point). Best items were the neapolitans and eclairs. VISIT No.3: Ordered a cuban mix and sad to say it was HORRIBLE (hardly any meat at all and way too much mustard). More than half the bites of my sandwich had literally NO meat at all. SUMMARY: The bakery sweets are excellent and worth coming for. The hot case items are good but nothing special whats so ever. The sandwiches are a waste of time. Some really stupid reviews from other yelpers. It's a Cuban bakery, I would think all of the people who work there speak Spanish and most speak English. If you're not from Florida you just wouldn't understand. I came here this morning (my Spanish is terrible) the lady who dealt with us spoke English and took VERY good care of us. It's bakery... the language barrier shouldn't be an issue. You read the English signs they have you point and you spit out a number. I love this place. The ham and cheese croissant is a must. The guava pastries a must. The cafe con leche a must. This will be my first stop EVERY time I'm in town. read more

Best Cuban bakery chain ever ! This place gets packed in the morning for the much needed cafe bustello. Whether it's cafe con leche or a colada they always make it to perfection. My favorite pastry is the guava and cheese when it's fresh out the oven, YUM! They're breakfast croissant sandwich is delicious as well with ham, cheese and scrambled eggs with a light sweet glaze pressed. This is by far is the worst experiences in costumer service I've ever had! I'm in the military and I'm home for vacation. I chose to come to Vecky because it's close by home and my family has been buying from them for years. I don't speak Spanish and I was asking the women behind the counter what kind of croquettes they had. She didn't know and had to ask another lady what kind they were. Both of them didn't speak English. I have step-family that are from Cuba so I respect that not everyone speaks English. What's frustrating is that there wasn't a single person who spoke any English there or did the workers help me to find someone who does. Mystery meat croquettes it is. I was there to buy guava pastelitos for my grandma who lives on the west coast so I needed to stick it out. She doesn't have a bakery that makes them where she lives and she enjoys them a lot. I waited 10 minutes for the people at the register to finish talking to the Fed Ex guy. I was the only other person in line and you would have sworn that this was a long lost relative from the island of castaway and he was gone for several years. They just kept talking and completely oblivious that I'm even in line. Finally the Fed Ex guy leaves and it's my turn in line. I told the lady good morning in English. She just looked at me and then started ringing up my items. The register was one of the iPad tablets. I've only used it a couple of times and was unfamiliar with where I put my debit card because there's several different types of models so when it came time to pay, I just handed the lady at the register my card. She puts it in the machine and starts laughing at me! I'm already out of my comfort zone and you laugh at me? Normally if I do something silly like drop my debit card or mistakenly try to pull a door open when the signs says to push, a quick little laugh at my self and move on, but to stand there and disrespect me as if I'm stupid! That's where I draw the line. I get it, I don't speak Spanish, but don't treat me like I'm an idiot! I'm already uncomfortable as it is due to my language skills but then you are going to be little me because I handed you my debit card?? I picked your establishment due to the family always buying from them. Despite your yelp reviews, I was going to give you a chance. Once again, yelp has proven its loyalty unlike your bakery. A Cuban staple in Broward. While the staff is kind, their pastries are hit or miss as of late. Some days they suffer from severe shrinkage and lack the sweet coating and fresh flakiness of the pastries we grew up with. As for their cakes, I recently ordered a cake for my daughter's party. It looked beautiful from the outside, but had to throw half of it away (see below). It was so dry that it would just crumble as we cut it and guests left most of it on their plates, commenting that it might be old. The corners were all frosting with no cake and those slices had to be thrown out. The frosting lacked flavor and in short, it was pretty bad. I informed the manager and he said he would look into it. On the plus side, their toast is always substantial and they have ice cold Jupina and Materva...but doesn't everyone now a-days? In short, for the nostalgic feel of the cuban bakeries of our youth, stop by and look around. But if you want the flavor and quality of cuban empanadas, croquettes and pasties, you're better off stopping by Latin Cafe on Pines. For cakes and select pastries, try Publix Bakery. Their cakes and cupcakes are made to order and I haven't had a quality issue yet. Their pastries are always fresh. Their empanadas are more Argentine style though, which I don't care for as much as the fried crusty ones at LC. read more

I can totally tell the difference between the ladies that are still here from the old administration than the new ones from the current owners that clearly suck and don't care. Super slow!
