It's a good location with lots of parking. We went for lunch during the weekend and it was pretty empty. As soon as I walked in I noticed how nice the inside looks. The fans on the ceilings are beautiful. Very clean floors and bathroom. We ordered ropa vieja and masitas de puerco. I do think both dishes were missing some flavor, but the bread they bring out while waiting for your food is delicious. We also ordered mariquitas, which were not bad. Talk about comfort food! La Carreta window, very easy, order your colada and enjoy croquetas, empanadas and pastelitos. The ambiance is not the most elegant but for sitting down to enjoy your coffee and Cuban delicacies, it is good. Great for take out. I met with a few colleagues who decided to eat at this restaurant. It's quite a large restaurant with a bar and plenty of seating inside and outdoor. There were plenty of staff throughout and our waitress was very nice and great at what she does. I ordered the fried chicken chunks which was recommended to me and a popular order on their menu. Absolutely terrible experience. I placed an order right before closing, and somehow the restaurant handed my order to a delivery driver without properly verifying that the driver was actually assigned to pick it up. The driver apparently stole the order, and nobody at the restaurant seemed to realize what had happened. Multiple other drivers continued showing up trying to pick up the same order before we finally called the restaurant ourselves to figure out what was going on. Only then were we told that the order had already been picked up and was essentially gone. Since it was the last order of the night, the kitchen had already closed and they refused to remake it. What made the situation even worse was the complete lack of customer service. We spoke to the manager and were placed on hold long enough that we actually had time to get up and go speak to them in person, yet nothing was done to resolve the issue. No attempt to make things right. No offer to remake the order the next day. No discount, credit, or apology beyond essentially being told to take it up with Uber Eats for a refund. The restaurant's failure to verify the pickup directly caused this problem, yet they took zero responsibility and offered zero solutions. Mistakes happen, but customer service is measured by how you handle them. In this case, the response was basically, "Not our problem." I went with my twin 8-year-old boys, and from the very beginning, an employee named Maya told me they were NOT allowed to be in the women's restroom with me and had to use the men's bathroom. This is completely unacceptable. There is no way I'm sending my young children alone into a public men's restroom. Any reasonable place understands that kids that age should stay with their parent, especially for safety reasons. The way this was handled showed a complete lack of empathy and common sense. Instead of accommodating a mother with young children, I was made to feel uncomfortable and embarrassed. Very disappointing experience. I will not be returning. They also have an outdoor patio window for ordering Cuban coffee and light bites open throughout the day. La Carreta is such a great lunch spot as it has a huge menu with a ton of daily specials. My favorite dish by far is the Vaca Frita (marinated and fried pieces of beef) and you get two sides!! My go-to sides are usually Moros Rice (white rice mixed with pork and black beans) and sweet Plaintains! However, you can't go wrong with any of their sides especially the green Plaintains, yuca, or even the fries. The portions are huge for the price and the Vaca Frita is cooked to perfection! Thank goodness We like the convenience of this restaurant nearby, our home and the comfort food plus the quality. To start with, the drink options here are amazing. I got the THE CLASSIC Mojito, our mom got a Cuban Coffee. My entree was a Sampler platter, made up of Ground Beef "Picadillo", Roast Pork, Ham Croquette, Tamale, Yuca, White Rice, Black Beans and Sweet Plantains. I liked trying the sample platter. Got to taste a little bite of everything. The tamale was about 1/3 of a whole one. it was moist & flavorful. The piccadilly was amazing. something i can't wait to try again. The serving of roasted pork I got, 1/2 was moist, the other 1/2 was sort of dry? Old tray vs. new tray maybe? The yuca reminded me of a cross between a sweet potato & potato. The black beans had perfect flavor. A slight spicy flavor but not over spicy. The sweet plantains were the perfect serving for an after dinner sweet treat. . My mom said the cubano was a much better lunch option, and she wished she had gotten the platter too. Were in town just visiting, but are likely to return when we come back. Was quite disappointing today when I ordered a chicken soup and it was watered down so badly no flavor whatsoever and if that wasn't bad enough, I asked four Caldo Gallego and it two was watered down and then the manager has the nerve to say they know that that's the way they make it watered down after that remark would not recommend this Restaurant to anybody and I don't think I'll be coming back, which is a pity because we go there a lot. read more

So yeah the service can get a little complicated if you want a lot of details and don't speak spanish but with enough gestures you can do it. I wanted an apetizer of fufu but they were out. Lucky them, I will be back this week. There is nothing like La Caretta's fufu. They sell it with fried pieces of pork too. The portions are huge here so be prepared to take some home for lunch the next day or share a few plates with friends. I like that they kept the meat separate in a plastic container. Our server came right away to take our drink orders and ask if we had any questions. She was friendly and kept checking on us. The Cuban bread was supposed to be toasted, but it was hardly pressed & the butter was not even melted. The Service: we asked for Cuban toast with our coffee and was advised to get it from the buffet. That was not acceptable, we asked again for fresh TOASTED bread and by the time it came - the eggs we got from the buffet were cold. Most of the staff have a bad attitude and look angry or unhappy.
