It's a good location with lots of parking. We went for lunch during the weekend and it was pretty empty. As soon as I walked in I noticed how nice the inside looks. The fans on the ceilings are beautiful. Very clean floors and bathroom. We ordered ropa vieja and masitas de puerco. I do think both dishes were missing some flavor, but the bread they bring out while waiting for your food is delicious. We also ordered mariquitas, which were not bad. Absolutely terrible experience at La Carreta. I went with my twin 8-year-old boys, and from the very beginning, an employee named Maya told me they were NOT allowed to be in the women's restroom with me and had to use the men's bathroom. This is completely unacceptable. There is no way I'm sending my young children alone into a public men's restroom. Any reasonable place understands that kids that age should stay with their parent, especially for safety reasons. The way this was handled showed a complete lack of empathy and common sense. Instead of accommodating a mother with young children, I was made to feel uncomfortable and embarrassed. Very disappointing experience. I will not be returning. La Carreta is a great choice if you are looking for authentic, affordable and quick Cuban food in the area! They have a huge spacious indoor seating room with a bar as well. They also have an outdoor patio window for ordering Cuban coffee and light bites open throughout the day. La Carreta is such a great lunch spot as it has a huge menu with a ton of daily specials. My favorite dish by far is the Vaca Frita (marinated and fried pieces of beef) and you get two sides!! My go-to sides are usually Moros Rice (white rice mixed with pork and black beans) and sweet Plaintains! However, you can't go wrong with any of their sides especially the green Plaintains, yuca, or even the fries. The portions are huge for the price and the Vaca Frita is cooked to perfection! It's perfectly seasoned with a ton of cooked onions mixed throughout. We have continued visiting our Cuban cuisine near by restaurant due to improvements in service. Thank goodness We like the convenience of this restaurant nearby, our home and the comfort food plus the quality. Unfortunately, our experiences sometimes have been short of good service, causing us a bad taste and wanting not to return. We hope management views these comments and makes improvements needed. One of our previous visits was with the server Elizabeth a very pleasant and delightful person detailed always there attended to us. We were happy to have good service once again thank you Elizabeth for being detailed and a good server. Upon another visit we were served by Dayani this server was HORRIFIC on a previous occasion I wrote about. On this last visit Dayani did a big change in service. Our visits to La Carreta are on the weekends and for breakfast. They have a terrific buffet breakfast for a great price. Lots to choose from and also includes coffee and juice. To start with, the drink options here are amazing. I got the THE CLASSIC Mojito, our mom got a Cuban Coffee. My entree was a Sampler platter, made up of Ground Beef "Picadillo", Roast Pork, Ham Croquette, Tamale, Yuca, White Rice, Black Beans and Sweet Plantains. I liked trying the sample platter. Got to taste a little bite of everything. The tamale was about 1/3 of a whole one. it was moist & flavorful. The piccadilly was amazing. something i can't wait to try again. The serving of roasted pork I got, 1/2 was moist, the other 1/2 was sort of dry? Old tray vs. new tray maybe? The yuca reminded me of a cross between a sweet potato & potato. The black beans had perfect flavor. A slight spicy flavor but not over spicy. The sweet plantains were the perfect serving for an after dinner sweet treat. . My mom said the cubano was a much better lunch option, and she wished she had gotten the platter too. Were in town just visiting, but are likely to return when we come back. The bad reviews surprised me. I get it, the language barrier can be difficult at times but even with my broken spanish i can get my point across. So yeah the service can get a little complicated if you want a lot of details and don't speak spanish but with enough gestures you can do it. Aside from that I thought the food was delicious and really really affordable especially for what they give. My friends and I liked it so much we went twice. I wanted an apetizer of fufu but they were out. Lucky them, I will be back this week. There is nothing like La Caretta's fufu. They sell it with fried pieces of pork too. The portions are huge here so be prepared to take some home for lunch the next day or share a few plates with friends. I like that they kept the meat separate in a plastic container. The service here is excellent. I've dined in on busy days and still they hustle to take care of every table. Today, the staff were super friendly when ordering take-out. The food on the Sunday morning Buffet today, 22Dec2024, was terrible. Half the food was not made fresh there. The deserts included cookies from a tin that you can get at Costco or Walgreens. The Cuban bread was supposed to be toasted, but it was hardly pressed & the butter was not even melted. The Service: we asked for Cuban toast with our coffee and was advised to get it from the buffet. That was not acceptable, we asked again for fresh TOASTED bread and by the time it came - the eggs we got from the buffet were cold. Most of the staff have a bad attitude and look angry or unhappy. This is not the environment I desire when going out to a restaurant and I will not be going back. The service at this location was outstanding. We were a rather large table and the service was quick and very attentive. We stopped in for breakfast/ almost lunch time. I had the typical scramble with ham and come with Cuban coffee/milk and toast. I was slightly disappointed in the Cuban toast seemed a little mushy instead of toasty and crisp and the house potatoes were slightly sweet.
