Derek has been patient and gone to great lengths to help with tuning advice as well as finding some custom parts. I'll be posting pictures of the finished project soon, and will say I couldn't have done it without Derek's knowledge and expertise. Disclaimer: I am a complete newb to motorcycles and have not actually used any other motorcycle…read morerepair people other than Derek my whole life. That said, despite the above disclaimer, I am nonetheless a fairly difficult customer to impress. My husband and I are control freaks and perfectionists, though goodness knows we WANT to get excited about finding good services. When we brought ourselves and our dual-sports (WR250X/R) to Derek, based on YELP reviews, I quickly got the impression that 1) he was competent and a perfectionist and 2) he'd not worked on our particular bike before. But the latter didn't really phase him. He took my emails with links to online articles in stride and showed us complete respect despite our lack of experience, and at every stage of the way has made us happy with his attitude and his results. He may sometimes question our judgement when we make a request, but he does it for the right reasons, and in the end he'll still humor us if we get stubborn. So far all our adjustments and repairs have made us very happy, and I've no complaint about the cost of his service (though given the above disclaimer, I may just be too clueless to know if he's ripping us off, heh...wait, I didn't just say that). We'll be going back to him for all our future motorcycle repair/mod needs. Knowing that we're done with the search for a good mechanic is a weight off my shoulders. (Regarding the 1* review...am I Derek's friend? Err, probably not. Not that I think he'd be a bad friend, but, um, I'm just a customer.)

Terrible service. Bought a bike from them in april, sounded good cold started and ran fine. Ordered…read morenew bars to be put on, a part was on back order and nobody told me until I called them weeks later. Finally got the bike a month later and within 100 miles it breaks down. I call to let them know its unridable and that it is leaking oil all over the bike. Service manager claimed it was out of gas and just re routed oil filter. Still leaks oil today, I got it back and it broke down again in 3 miles of riding. This time the service manager laughs at me over the phone because he rides it all over and never has issues whereas I just had to push it a mile back home. Get my bike back a 3rd time and make it 30 miles and does the same thing again. Refuse to take it back for them to do nothing again as they clearly do not care and at this point and they must know they have sold a bad bike and dont want to fix it right. Horrible service and awful way to do business as this bike is junk and I am stuck with it. Kudos to Route 65 for losing a customer and selling a bike that is obviously not sound. I will not doing any other business with them and will not recommend anyone else to do so.
