It's safe and friendly in a way the whole country was many years ago. G-Rated, family-friendly TV, reading material and conversation. You'll be greeted by a group of friendly barbers who don't just cut your hair - everyone gets the hot towel treatment, their neck shaved with hot lather and a straight razor and a shoulder massage done with an electric hand-held massager - all included in the price of your haircut. There is coffee and sweets while you wait. The prices are posted. All the barbers do a great job. The wait can be long if you're waiting for a particular person so most people go to whoever is open when their turn comes. If your really pressed for time you can ask them to skip the message. They want what you want. If you hate going to get your hair cut, do yourself a favor and give Johnny's a try. You'll be back. What's my favorite thing about the place outside of Johnny himself? Johnny has decided to close his shop on Saturdays (I'll give you a moment to read that again.) The Johnny's where a Saturday would find 4-5 barbers and a packed waiting area is now closed on that day and open from 7:30AM to Noon on Sunday. I arrived today at 7:31AM to find only Johnny and another barber, each with a person in their chair, with 3 others waiting. Not good. It takes Johnny himself about 45 minutes on average to complete a person - and that's not for a scissor cut. Not wanting to be here for hours I went with the other barber. Even though she isn't usually one of my top picks she does a good job and is quicker than the rest. Closing on Saturday, in my mind equals a lost star.
