Went in and told the guy I wanted a cross between a mullet and a Mohawk. A "modern mullet". The dude. It a square around my ears, didn't taper it and said it's done. I was like uhhh no...had him do it again. This time he tapered the weird square he cut then spiked up all my hair. Once again, no do it again. Finally 3 times later he listened to me and tapered my hair to look somewhat what I wanted. I ended up paying and leaving because the barber clearly had zero idea what he was doing not to mention his hands reeked of cigarette smoke. I went home and buzzed it all off. Horrible experience and weird vibes from the shop. Definitely won't be going back. read more

I just came back from my first time here, and I received the strangest haircut that I've ever gotten. My haircut is very simple and I've gotten it done this way for years. Shave the back and sides and cut the top short. The barber asked what I did with my hair, so I told him that I spike it up. He does the shave with the clippers to the specified length and is finished 1-2-3. Cool, that's to be expected. Then he starts cutting the top with scissors. Then he suddenly stops. He has the chair away from the mirror (which I also think was strange. I've never gotten a haircut where the barber does this), so I can't see what he's doing. He then puts gel in my hair and pulls it back and spikes it up. Then he starts cutting it while my hair is gelled. I have NEVER experienced this before. It's at this point that he finally spins the chair around so I can see myself in the mirror and asks how it looks. It looked fine, but it was hard to tell because he gelled my hair back. It wasn't until I got home that I washed the gel out and unsurprisingly, my hair is completely uneven in the front where he gelled it. I can only assume it's because of the strange way he decided to cut my hair while spiked up? We just moved to Poughkeepsie, and I was hoping to have a barber close to where I live, but I guess I'll have to keep looking since I probably won't return here. read more

I got my husband a gift card for Christmas at this place and he finally went a month after Christmas. I was hoping it will be a good experience for him and go back maybe twice a month but it wasn't. The staff was nice but he said he was deeply disappointed in the fact that they used a machine for shaving his head and all. I think he was expecting a razor shave. He said that he can do better at home where he uses a razor and a machine. Maybe he should have asked for exactly what he wanted, maybe that's the only way they do it. But for that reason, he doesn't wanna go back. This review is only for his particular experience, so if you go for a head shave maybe you want to ask what exactly you want. read more

I go here to Sal because he is the only barber out of the few I've tried in the area that actually listens to me. He is also a great guy to talk to and not surprisingly, gets booked weeks in advance. He cuts my beard the way I like it. He doesn't just take a one size clipper comb to it. I have a thick curly beard and most barbers just cut it too short. I recommend Sal, just ask for him and get booked. read more

I went here for the first time and Marino cut my hair. I showed him a picture of what I wanted my back to look like and what I wanted my front to look like and he spent 5 minutes cutting my back and then told me he was done. I then asked him if he was actually going to cut my hair and showed him again how I wanted the front of my hair to look like. After that he got clippers and went crazy cutting in no direction. Classic barbershop. A very simple old school vibe to this place. I went on a busy Sunday morning, and even though there were only 3 barbers working, I didn't have to wait more than 15 minutes. The owner (I'm pretty sure he's the owner) cut my hair and it came out great. I don't think I'll ever get a cut anywhere else. Way better atmosphere than the mall or any of the chain places. Very good place, I have been going here for a few years now and have been consistently decent. They do standard short men's cuts very well, so if that's what you're looking for, this is a good affordable place. Make sure to be very specific about what you want, though- I have to redo my last haircut because the barber I got did not take any off the top like I asked, and it left me looking like a terrible bowl cut once I washed the product out of it. He didn't go as short as I wanted either, but made it look like he did by using product. Make sure to ask to see the cut before they put gel in it. Other than that this is a good place. read more

Great place for an inexpensive and quick cut. I basically get a long crew cut, which is harder than you would think to do. There were 3 barbers working when I went on a recent Saturday morning. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes and have gotten compliments on the cut. They will be my place going forward. read more

This place isn't bad if you are in a rush and want a quick and "regular" haircut. It is cheap and in a convenient location, but that's all it really has going for it. It seems like they do not know how to do anything other than a standard cut. If that is ok with you then add another star to my rating.
