Through the use of advanced technology, our physicians and staff are dedicated to providing the most competent, compassionate and personalized care possible." - Brentwood Surgery Center pamphlet I recently utilized the services of Brentwood Surgery Center for an outpatient procedure in which I was put under heavy sedation. And... Aside from the minimal embarrassment of finding out afterwards that I tried to eat a thermometer thinking it was water (I was thirsty), that I inquired multiple times if I had a BM (I used a more colorful word) during surgery, and that I told everyone I was pretty... The entire experience was quite pleasant. From what I remember of the staff pre-sedation, they were as they advertise. Competent and compassionate. From what I was told by my designated post-surgery driver, the staff of doctors and nurses also have a pretty good sense of humor and roll with whatever bizarre behavior their patients throw at them! The surgery center staff (minus my surgeon and my anesthesiologist) even went so far as to follow up with a get well card afterwards. Thank you April (registration), Alison (pre-op), Claudette and Trisha (OR), and Debbie (recovery). My hope is that I won't require further surgeries, but if I do... I will once again be choosing to have my procedures scheduled at the Brentwood Surgery Center.

I have taken my kid to at least a dozen GI doctors and most were either inexperienced or dismissive. Dr. Jeiven figured out his problem on day one. She is thorough and gives a substantial amount of time to the patient. She asks the right kind of questions and makes recommendations quickly and her office gets the ball rolling--no wait and no anxiety. If you are worried about your kid's GI issues and have been frustrated with the unavailability of elite doctors at Sutter or Stanford and LPCH, don't wait-- get your kiddos to see Dr. Jeiven and you will be happy that you did that. I do not understand why the Bay Area has so many overworked and unavailable pediatric specialty doctors who do not care about the urgency of their patients' issues. Dr. Jeiven is not at all like that. While I am sure she's super busy too! But once you make an appointment, she gives her 100% attention to solve the problem. She has a wry sense of humor--keeps a straight face and says hilarious things. Great bedside manners are a plus.

I had been to a doctor who "thought" he knew how to heal leaky gut, but it continued to get worse over 10+ years until my IBS and leaky gut sent me to the ER. At that point I started going to a Naturalpath, as it was obvious I was not on the right path. She ran many many tests at a lot of $$ since neither she, nor the tests, were covered by insurance. The tests gave me a lot of great information and I was able to continue with the supplements she had recommended. It helped immensely that one tests identified 5 major food sentivities and removing them from my diet help alot. But a couple years after that, my gut got really bad again and I was always in pain, exhausted and sick. I had 4 friend who had been seeing Dr Varon and at their recommendation I finally made an appointment with him. His healing protocol for my leaky gut, the cause of my belly pain works. It isn't cheap, but it is way cheaper than getting cancer and digestive cancers run very strongly on both sides of my family. Again I am feeling much better and evey time I have another followup with Dr Varon he makes a change in my morning shake which makes my feel a little better still. The only thing I can figure on why he has so many bad reviews are due to preconceived expectations. Just because another doctor, or your own research shows other supplements may help, they are not generally part of a full protocol for healing. If you see him, are open to what he says, respect his knowledge and ask questions at the end of your appointment you will find healing without big pharma and a wonderful doctor. If you just want surgery and/or pharmaceuticals, he is not the doctor for you. It's obvious in our society that many people don't want to do the work, they just want a quick fix that doesn't inconvenience them, but that doesn't generate health

She took detailed information and concerns of mine. She was able to put in bloodwork I needed to the lab but I was able to take her recommended lab work to have my doctor put it in so that some of the lab work would be covered by insurance. The lab work is much more extensive than the basic lab work your traditional doctor does for you. Her lab work was able to have her give you recommendations on supplements and diet. The lab work is an eye opener to seeing how unbalanced my body was. Just before having the vaccine, she instructed me on what tinctures to take prior to having the vaccine so that wouldn't have any or mild side effects. The first two vaccines I took the tinctures and I barely had any symptoms. When the booster came out and I completely forgot about taking the tinctures, I had a headache and was tired for two days. I won't forget to take this going forward now. If you're looking for a naturopathic doctor, I highly recommend Dr. Kizzy Raphael where ever you are located. She does a wonderful job working with patients virtually. Her attention to detail and her eagerness to want to resolve your health issues makes her a vital part of your wellbeing.

Dr. Kizzy has helped me obtain a quality of life I didn't think was possible. I had lost faith in…read moretraditional doctors, having been told countless times from more doctors than I can remember that "I'm fine". I'd been through Kaiser, PAMF, Sutter Health; nobody would listen and nobody would help. I felt so hopeless, defeated and truly sick. I was experiencing debilitating fatigue, excruciating pain in my tailbone, extreme nausea, issues with overactive bladder, blood in my stool, a swollen abdomen, weight that I couldn't lose no matter what I tried ...the list goes on. Every day was a struggle and every day I felt so unwell, and there was no explanation. The nausea has been affecting me for over 30 years. The final straw that pushed me to find help outside of what my insurance would cover, was testing positive for colon cancer at 46. I didn't really have the money to seek alternative care, but feeling like I was on the brink of death motivated me to reprioritize my life and figure it out. I found Dr. Kizzy out of sheer desperation. I chose her because of the reviews I read. I could write pages and pages about how wonderful she is, but to summarize, I feel amazing! I don't have colon cancer. I was completely misdiagnosed by Kaiser. They kept running the same tests over and over. They refused to deviate and expand the parameters of their testing even though I wasn't getting better. They told me my ailments were all in my head. Dr. Kizzy was able to determine I had SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth), H.pylori (very common, from food poisoning) and that my adrenal gland function was extremely low. I've been a patient of Dr. Kizzy for a little over a year now and for the first time in my entire life, I'm ok. I will be forever grateful for her help! She actually listened and cared. · Debilitating Fatigue - Dr. Kizzy treated my adrenal gland function, and I have so much energy now! · Excruciating Tailbone Pain - It was from chronic stress, which led to pressure and muscle tension in my pelvic floor muscles. She recommended an amazing therapist (Taryn Weinkam, PhD) who helped me release the trauma I've been holding onto for so many years. My pain is gone! · Overactive Bladder - It was my body's response to being in a constant state of "fight or flight". The therapy helped with this as well, it's no longer an issue. · Extreme Nausea - It was from H.pylori. Nausea is one of the main symptoms. If Kaiser or Sutter had run a simple test, this could have been diagnosed decades ago. My nausea is completely gone. · Swollen Abdomen & Bloody Stool - Both of these were from SIBO and both are no longer present. · Excess Weight - SIBO contributed to this, but so did the feeling of hopelessness. I credit both Dr. Kizzy and therapy. Our bodies react to our mental state. I've dropped 30 lbs and fit back into clothes I never thought I'd be able to wear again. There is really something to that whole "mind, body, spirit" thing. I highly recommend Dr. Kizzy!
