Im a 58 yr old male who experienced an episode of diverticulitis in Feb of this year. After a consult with my primary care physician, I was referred to Dr Fang for a colonoscopy (oh fun). I was scheduled for late May at the Concord Surgery Center. This was my 2nd colonoscopy. The first was after I turned 50. The staff at the surgery center was kind and humorous (I needed that). The anesthesiologist, Dr. Kim, was prompt, all business and effective. Dr. Fang was GREAT. Both during the initial consult and during the procedure. His follow-up appointment was short and to the point. Dr Fang and his entire team were fabulous. I appreciate each and every one of them and I would recommend them for a similar procedure! Thank You! read more

It was my worst experience with any doctor! I will not be seeing him ever again My initial visit was for chronic heartburn! He scrutinized me for my lifestyle which my lifestyle is not bad! he didn't even discuss my lifestyle or ask me ...mind you this was my first visit with this doctor!!! I agreed to get an endoscopy by him which I had to wait over two hours to have it because obviously because he overbooked, he's notorious for that!! He couldn't be clear if I have Barretts after the endoscopy... I feel he's an alarmist and his bedside manner needs a lot of improvement not to mention his skills as a G.I. doctor!!! read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Ming Fang for about 15 years and have appreciated his care over the years. However, my recent experience left me with concerns that I feel are important to share. Earlier this year, I scheduled a routine appointment with Dr. Fang in April. During that time, I noticed that my online chart had been updated to indicate the presence of polyps--even though my previous colonoscopy was five years ago and my next one was already scheduled for two months later. This premature update raised red flags for me, as it's unclear why such a significant note would be added before the procedure had taken place. Additionally, when I did arrive for my scheduled colonoscopy, I experienced a serious lapse in coordination: the Surgery Center seemed to forget I was there. After more than two hours in the waiting room without any updates after registering, I had to leave without being seen. After years of reliable care, these recent issues have made me question the level of attention and follow-through I can expect going forward. I hope steps are taken to improve both communication and patient experience. read more

Dr. Fang is very thorough. He found a problem for me and fixed it. He recommended that my family get checked for this same issue, as it is hereditary. They did and he possibly saved my mom's life. read more

Doctor Ming Fang is a highly qualified and professional Gastroenterologist. He is one of the best in his field of medicine and it reflects on his high quality of performance in the office and especially during surgeries. I suffer from inflammation after h pylori treatment and he said this is chronic disease and i have to change my habits which isn't true because I never suffered from Gerd until I got the h pylori infection. I was expecting him to prescribe medication for better digestion. Will definitely ask to change this doctor read more

I had a great experience with Dr. Fang. He did both my 1st colonoscopy and my 2nd follow-up to a flat lession he removed during the 1st. He is very informative and takes the time to explain everything clearly, making sure you feel comfortable and well-informed. What really stood out is that he is a pathologist and the first doctor in the area to be trained to detect flat lesions in the colon--something many others may miss. (I was told flat lesions are more aggressive and have a 50% chance of developing into colon cancer.) His attention to detail and thoroughness are unmatched, which speaks volumes about his expertise and leadership in the field. I highly recommend Dr. Fang to anyone in need of a skilled and compassionate GI specialist. read more

I cannot recommend Dr. Fang. My first and only appointment with him was a video appointment (during the height of the cooties hysteria, when it was nearly impossible to meet with a doctor face-to-face) in order to go over a few questions I had. When our appointment started, I realized he had violated my HIPAA rights by obtaining my health records from another provider without my permission. He was disinterested and dismissive, and also proceeded to body-shame me, which can be extremely destructive to a person's self-esteem. Needless to say, I never went back to him. I frankly got a misogynistic vibe from him, and would recommend finding a different practitioner. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Fang and his staff. They are very compassionate and thorough during the initial procedure and follow-up. I highly recommend him and he saved me from having an extensive in hospital surgery. read more

Dr. Fang provided a colonoscopy for my 85 year old father after a positive Cologuard test. Fortunately, before the test, we researched and learned Cologuard had a high rate of false positives, so we were optimistic, but concerned. Ten days after the colonoscopy, we received a call from his office informing my father he needed to come in for results. Needless to say, we were very concerned as the doctor was asking for an in person appointment. I took the afternoon off from work to go with my father. At the appointment, Dr. Fang walks in, with a very curt disposition, and says that he is fine, no cancer. He then recited a canned speach of all the caveats and risks and then left. Of course we are very happy with the diagnosis, but couldn't he have set the stage in advance that there was no cancer? Perhaps an email with the results and either offer an in person or virtual appointment to review results. I believe he is just trying to maximize his billable services at his patients expense. read more

Unprofessional, rude, incompetent. I saw Dr Fang 2 years ago and thought he had brusque bedside manner but stayed with him since I only needed to see him every couple years. Yesterday, however, he crossed the line. I have been experiencing chest tightness and chronic sore throat which, a consultation with an ENT and allergist, was suspected to be caused by Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) which would be treated by a Gastroenterologist so I went to see Dr Fang. When I told him I may have LPR he asked "What is that?" so I explained it was acid flowing upwards. He told me to buy some bricks from Costco and put it under my lower part of bed and sleep upside down so my head would be higher than my feet. I didn't quite understand at first because his English is heavily accented. I didn't hint this in any way to him but there's no way to sugar coat this. He got super irritated and told me I must not have understood him because English is not my native language. Mind you, I'm Asian but I'm a native speaker. Regardless, should he be insulting his patients like this? I asked my PCP for a new GI referral. I will never go back to him again if he was the last GI remaining on earth. read more

He is one of the best in his field , a very caring doctor. Because of his subtle observation, I escaped a catastrophe. I highly recommend Dr. Fang. read more

Would do zero stars if possible. Doctor shows up 20+ minutes late to zoom appointments and then will mark YOU as no show. This happened multiple times. For procedures, it takes about 1-2 hours after your appointment time to actually be seen. They have you wait until a bed frees up. Very inefficient office work. I was supposed to receive a 5 day prep manual for my colonoscopy, I didn't receive it until 20 hours prior to my procedure. They don't tell you you'll need someone to sign you in and out of procedures at all. I had to find out hours before my appointment and was almost refused service. They give you no warning before you're put under. Twice I was put under while I was in the middle of asking or answering a question. Just extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. The doctor will give you terrifying news one visit and then act like all is well the next visit. There are a few cool receptionists and nurses but the doctor himself and the way the office operates are horrid. read more

I went to see Dr Fang about difficulty swallowing. He did an endoscopy, and after finding nothing wrong, he refused to investigate further. He told me that it was "all in my head". Months later, I wasn't able to swallow solid foods at all and went to a different gastroenterologist. The new GI ordered an esophagram and manometry test. The tests showed that I had Achalasia and I was told to have surgery. Since surgery is more successful early in the disease, Dr Fang's inability to diagnose me caused more complications for the operation. In my experience, Dr Fang has very limited knowledge in the field of gastroenterology and is only able to diagnose the most common diseases. The fact that he can't admit when he doesn't know something and is too lazy to investigate further means that I cannot recommend him to anyone. Update: I've now recovered from surgery. I still wish that I didn't have to suffer for so long because Dr Fang kept insisting that nothing was wrong. read more

Very poor communication and service. They require FaceTime or zoom appointments. Their office called 10 minutes prior to my appointment to confirm and I said yes I'm available. After 20 minutes of no call from the doctor they tell me he'll call any minute and don't reschedule. After over 30 minutes overdue for my appointment someone different from their office called to inform me the doctor is late and won't see me until pay for their services in advance. read more

Dr Fang appears to be a fine physician by my source's account. However, long waiting-room waits (30+ minutes) are annoying. Most problematic is the fact they make patients leave their office in order to use a restroom. My 80+ year old mother had to brave outside (rainy) weather to navigate the building complex which included and elevator ride. All this despite Dr Fang's office having a small restroom at the end of their hallway. When her name was called to see the doctor she was on her 10-minute restroom misadventure. WTF? You should do better. read more

Does not listen to the patient. Interrupts you when speaking. His mind set is Do it my way or the highway.

Legitimately the sketchiest experience of my life. Listen, whenever you receive medical care you role the dice on a doctor. My PC sent me there to look into some stomach issues I've been having. I showed up for an 8 AM appointment to find myself sitting in a dingy, dark office with stains on the floor and dusty pictures of the doctor chilling with who I assume are other doctors? This office legitimately looks like it should be be in an episode of Twilight Zone--go in but potentially never leave? A strange woman who was not a nurse, not a receptionist, and potentially in a relationship with the doctor in some capacity walked in and went from shouting in a back room at a man who I assume is Dr.Fang to walking up to help me. She proceeded to inform me that her "staff" hadn't turned up to work that day so she needed to dig through a stack of papers to find my file. She decidedly couldn't find any info on me in the dingy, dark office so she grabbed two sheets of paper asking me about my medical history. They legitimately had stacks of paper with patient info sitting out in open air with no checks or balances. At this point two other patients walked in and sat down as if they had been through this process before, but they did not speak English so it was hard for me to communicate with them to confirm. At this point I was 45 minutes past my original appointment time and was so sketched out that I tore up the paper that included my SSN and left. I called back my referring doctors office and told them what happened--they seemingly knew that this doctor has had complaints before. I would say that you should go see Dr.Fang only if you want to ogle at expensive degrees and wonder that if the lobby looks like the Overlook Hotel, what do the exam rooms look like? That shit was wild, for sure. read more

This Dr is a genius and is a pathologist and a gastroenterologist and very very thorough in his colonoscopies. I was apprehensive at first because of the lack of front office professionalism and lack of telephone response to questions but that I was told that was due to the flue outbreak and they have hired more personel to deal with the demand, let's hope that is true. Dr is GREAT! read more

Still harassing me with threats of being sent to collections for a $25 copay that I was willing to pay in office the day of the appointment but their system was down, receive a bill months after they received the insurance adjustment, and when I call to give them a cc, they don't take Amex and don't have an online payment processing service so they expect me to drive back or give them my main credit card number they will probably write down and leave somewhere smh pure money grab and what's worse, the surgeon would have performed a surgery not knowing what the mri revealed, something any competent doctor would do prior to surgery since fistulas are hard to visually identify, even the experienced Stanford surgeon I went to get the surgery with could not see it with the naked eye. Dr. Fang must have gotten x-ray glasses at his esteemed universities he attended. read more

I have been undergoing treatment with Dr. Fang for 3 years now. I was referred to him by my Gen Physician for Liver issues. I found him to be a straight shooter. He upfront told me what my options for treatment and what to expect during the treatment. He worked within the limits of my insurance and started the treatment and getting the tests and procedures approved before performing them. The staff at his office is very friendly and go out of their way to work with your time restrains to make follow up appointments. He is a thorough gentleman and gives you full disclosure including chances of success and failure. He treated all my symptoms one by one starting with the most urgent first to the the least dangerous last. I am very thankful to Dr. Fang for giving me a second lease of life. read more

Excellent experience. Dr. Fang discovered flat lesions during my colonoscopy. They turned out to be precancerous! I am so grateful and thankful for his experienced eye as this type of lesion/polyp is difficult to see. He saved my life! Thank you Dr. Fang read more

Awful. Not taken seriously, just prescribed more medication and more laxatives. Staff is incompetent and mismanages information. I was threatened to be dismissed from the practice because they had the wrong information. Overall, staff is dehumanizing & inadequate. Results are delivered with minimal effort & information. Worst staff I've ever encountered. Doctor does not care to solve root of problem- he generalizes & prescribes medicine w/o a concrete diagnosis. read more

Dr Fang is an experienced and competent Gastroenterologist. He is experienced in the detection of flat lesions, which not many gastroenterologists are, but which can be precancerous and so are of extra concern. He found such a precancerous polyp in me and removed it, potentially saving me from a much more serious cancer later. Other than that Dr. Fang is attentive to patients during visits and professional all around. One area for improvement would be more extensive communication with patients via the online portal, but other than that great! read more

I've been going to Dr Fang for almost 10 years now. He is very personable and super knowledgeable. He takes the time to explain everything. About 4 years ago my mother consulted him for a second opinion on a problem that her primary doctor said was no problem. He recommended that she get a second colonoscopy. Dr Fang found cancer and basically saved my mother's life. He is very thorough and takes great pride in his patiences. I have also noticed over the years that his nursing staff has improved. Years ago, they were kind of rude, but now are very friendly and helpful. read more

I never met Dr. Fang "in-person" due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions but we have met via Zoom twice for my consultations. He has great "virtual" bedside manners, he was patient, informative and answered all my questions. I ended up having an endoscopy and colonoscopy with him and it was the most flawless medical procedures I have had. His office kept calling me to ensure that I understood the preparation for the procedures and followed through with me. There was no pain or side effects involved. I would recommend Dr. Fang to anyone. Now, my husband is going to get screened as well because my experience was so great. read more

Dr. Ming Fang has gone above and beyond my expectations on finding an answer to an ongoing medical issue. Prior to meeting Dr. Fang, I had been seen by several Gastroenterologists in the John Muir System. I was ultimately sent to a Stanford University, but still no answers. Our experience with Dr. Fang was excellent. I was part of two appointments to help understand my mother in law's condition. Dr. Fang was very detailed and took the time to answer our questions and also suggested additional tests and procedures be performed, which turned out to be helpful (he found and removed pre-cancerous polyps and likely prevented major issues several years down the road). read more

I was very fortunate to have Dr. Fang do my last colonoscopy. I was referred to him by Dr. King, my primary care physician, who would not trust anyone else. Dr. Fang, who happens too be an expert on detecting and treating flat (sessile) polyps, found an enormous flat polyp in a difficult to access area of the colon, which likely had been growing there for a number of years undetected by previous gastroenterologists. This type of polyp eventually turns into cancer, as Dr. Fang explained. He took the time to answer all my questions and patiently explained my options. At my request, Dr. Fang performed a second colonoscopy and was able to remove the lesion, thereby sparing me from cancer and extensive surgery or worse. I deeply appreciate Dr. Fang's expertise and confidence-inspiring demeanor and mentally thank him every day. read more

For my colonoscopy, my GP recommended Dr. Fang. He has impressive credentials and was able to identify some potentially pre-cancerous lesions that others could easily have missed. He thoroughly explained the situation and provided the pictures to illustrate the findings. I'm glad to have found such a well trained and skillful doctor. read more

This place is a colonoscopy mill. Get 'em in, get 'em out. Make sure they pay on the way out! They have these cattle call appointments where everyone with a colonoscopy referral is scheduled for the same time on the same day. You check in with 10-20 other patients and then wait for the doctor to come out to the waiting room to address everyone at the same time. He explains the procedure for ten to twenty minutes and then says he will see everyone individually. The patients are then called into the examination room one at a time to have a consultation with the doctor. I was one of the last ones to be called. Dr. Fang was polite but cursory and rushed. In addition to my colonoscopy, based on previous conditions, he said he wanted to do an additional examination when I went in for the procedure. Let's call that examination Y. Dr. Fang's colleague, Dr. Singh performed my actual colonoscopy. That fact didn't bother me but what DID bother me was that Dr. Singh seemed to have been looking at someone else's chart. "Okay, I see we're doing a colonoscopy and procedure X." No, we're doing a colonoscopy and examination Y. "Oh." The procedure was uneventful. But fast forward two months. No word from either of the doctors. I emailed the office asking about the results of my procedure and for a copy of the report. Here is the word-for-word (with missing punctuation and all) email response I received. "I apologize that you have not received that information. The colonoscopy was normal he did find 1 polyp. He is recommending that you repeat the colonoscopy in 5 yrs." And Dr. Singh never performed examination Y according to the office. As of today, neither my primary care physician nor I have received a report. Avoid this place. read more

Worst clinician I have ever had!! I waited 75 minutes in his Walnut Creek office to have Dr. Fang come in and criticize me in broken English.
