She asks the right kind of questions and makes recommendations quickly and her office gets the ball rolling--no wait and no anxiety. If you are worried about your kid's GI issues and have been frustrated with the unavailability of elite doctors at Sutter or Stanford and LPCH, don't wait-- get your kiddos to see Dr. Jeiven and you will be happy that you did that. I do not understand why the Bay Area has so many overworked and unavailable pediatric specialty doctors who do not care about the urgency of their patients' issues. Dr. Jeiven is not at all like that. While I am sure she's super busy too! But once you make an appointment, she gives her 100% attention to solve the problem. He will approach your case like a seasoned detective and may discover findings your previous physician or GI doc did not. This was the case for me. 2. He may get you off of harmful acid-reducing medications. There are a lot of side-effects to reflux meds, particularly PPIs, and Dr. Tsai recognizes this problem. Most doctors will just throw PPIs at you for years, never do a thorough work-up and you may even still be symptomatic! Dr. Tsai is more solution oriented. He is a surgeon of course and this is his paradigm, but sometimes surgery is the most practical solution. 3. Bedside manner. Dr. Tsai is a doctor who educates and I can't tell you how much I appreciate this. He is also a doctor who cares and takes time to explain things. His staff is great, too!
