So glad they still had an impressively wide selection at the end of the festival as many venders ran out. The Giant Peanut Butter Cup is very decadent with rich dark chocolate and creamy peanut butter. Just a couple of bites was more than satisfying and paced myself and able to devour the cup over a few days. The Dark Chocolate Covered Mint Oreo was delicious and my pick over the Dark Chocolate Covered Oreo, which didn't taste that different from a normal Oreo. Of the truffles, the Raspberry and Dark Chocolate Ganache were my favorites. The Hazelnut truffle was fun to try and reminded me of a Ferraro Rocher hazelnut truffles. I miss seeing Capital Candy Jar at the farmer's markets as many have shut down and excited to see them at more festivals and events post pandemic. Looking forward to seeing them again and coming back for more delicious sweet treats!

That being said, I had a really great experience here the other day! I bought some gifts for my family and loved the selection. Lots of unique candies, Washington landmark Oreos, political party Oreos, ice cream and more. I snagged a few things to send my family for Christmas and can't wait for them to receive them!

During one of my walks around National Harbor to get the lay of the land, I noticed IT'SUGAR and it…read moreimmediately piqued my interest. I like candy - especially fruity and chewy varieties. That, combined with the fact that candy stores seem to be having a moment, put me in a position to check this place out. So before we headed out to the train station, we made a quick stop here. IT'SUGAR is a chain/franchise, with multiple locations across the country. In my perspective, this store is large with a good selection. They have packaged brands that we all know, plus the option to buy in bulk or in takeaway packages. I saw most of the usual suspects, as well as brands I didn't recognize as well as a large selection of Swedish candy which is currently trending. You can by bulk candy either by weight or volume; I decided to go the latter and choose one of their containers that can be filled as much as possible as long as the lid closed. I mostly stuck to the fruity and chewy candies which were quite good. It wasn't busy at all when we were there, so checkout was super fast. Overall, I was impressed with IT'SUGAR - really good variety and a place I would seek out for some sweets.

This one was smaller, but still packed with fun. The kids absolutely loved it--they went crazy over all the candy options! Now let's talk about the price...because baby, candy added up QUICK. For three kids and my little bit of Swedish fish, I spent $62, which is a bit much for candy in my opinion. But hey, it was spring break, and they had a great time, so I let it slide. The associate working there was very patient with the kids,--it was a lot going on with all that excitement and sugar overload! I didn't grab any pictures, but overall it was a fun stop and a great treat for the kids. Rating: 4/5

We got a blueberry pop tart, and some raspberry scones, along with a chocolate covered vanilla cupcake. Yummy! The only problem is that Henry's is not just a dessert bakery - the store may appear tiny on the outside, but it's huge on the inside. In addition to the bakery, they got all kinds of candy and other goodies for sale. I gotta stop back in another day and try all the other good stuff inside. Plus, you can tell from the Rick Astley-inspired sign outside, Henry's has a great sense of humor. This is exactly what small business brings to the neighborhood. Stop by and visit Henry's Sweet Retreat - you'll be glad you did!

All of it was DELICIOUS! The small sundaes were huge! Kids could not finish them and at $7ish each hard to beat for the quality! I had an eggnog cupcake. I was not sure it would be good but whatever magic y'all put in it worked great together! The frosting was light and fluffy not too sweet not too bland. And the cake was moist, not crumbly, not heavy just perfect! Had a latte with soymilk because my belly does not care for milk in coffee. Local coffee company supplies the beans. They also have pretty much any kind of candy, pies, and sweets you might need and apparently they cater! Stop in you will not regret it...unless you do not like sweets and then I am sorry.

The chocolate cone didn't taste that fresh... but it was still good. My friends didn't really like their strictly strawberry, strawberry cheesecake, or coffee flavors that much though. They were out of the coffee crunch and chocolate hazelnut which sounds like better options. The worker did make a remark in front of all the customers saying they need to stop working here during the summer and seemed stressed. I mean what do you expect for an ice cream store in a busy area on a hot day... that comment should've definitely been saved for private coworker talk. My other friends rate this place 3 stars.

I've been to Savannah's a couple of times before, and they never disappoint. We were in National Harbor on vacation, and of course--with kids in tow--we had to stop in and let them explore all the gooey goodness. Funny enough, they made a beeline straight for the ice cream instead of the candy... probably because we had already been it It's Sugar earlier that day! They tried a mix of flavors--birthday cake, wildberry sorbet, cookies & cream, butter pecan--and I went with mint chocolate chip. Every single one was delicious! The ice cream was creamy, flavorful, and definitely hit the spot. And let me just say--I appreciated the pricing. For the area, it was very reasonable. Not over-the-top expensive like Ben & Jerry's, so that was a win! Now for my part... I couldn't leave without trying a few treats. I grabbed a couple of truffles--raspberry milk chocolate, white chocolate, and a few others--and they were all rich, smooth, and delicious. But BABY... that giant turtle candy?! Whew! It was EVERYTHING. Crispy, fresh pecans, buttery caramel, and perfectly blended milk chocolate--hands down the perfect after-dinner treat. And don't sleep on the caramel popcorn with pecans--sweet, crunchy, and downright addictive! The service was excellent! The young ladies working the counters were patient, helpful, and friendly, which made the whole experience even better! Overall, if you're in the National Harbor area--or anywhere you spot a Savannah's Candy Kitchen--do yourself a favor and stop in. You are absolutely in for a treat!
