During one of my walks around National Harbor to get the lay of the land, I noticed IT'SUGAR and it immediately piqued my interest. I like candy - especially fruity and chewy varieties. That, combined with the fact that candy stores seem to be having a moment, put me in a position to check this place out. So before we headed out to the train station, we made a quick stop here. IT'SUGAR is a chain/franchise, with multiple locations across the country. In my perspective, this store is large with a good selection. They have packaged brands that we all know, plus the option to buy in bulk or in takeaway packages. I saw most of the usual suspects, as well as brands I didn't recognize as well as a large selection of Swedish candy which is currently trending. You can by bulk candy either by weight or volume; I decided to go the latter and choose one of their containers that can be filled as much as possible as long as the lid closed. I mostly stuck to the fruity and chewy candies which were quite good. It wasn't busy at all when we were there, so checkout was super fast. While visiting National Harbor, we stopped by IT'SUGAR--and it was such a cute, quaint little spot! I've seen this franchise before (I think in Myrtle Beach), but that location was a lot bigger. This one was smaller, but still packed with fun. The kids absolutely loved it--they went crazy over all the candy options! Now let's talk about the price...because baby, candy added up QUICK. For three kids and my little bit of Swedish fish, I spent $62, which is a bit much for candy in my opinion. But hey, it was spring break, and they had a great time, so I let it slide. The associate working there was very patient with the kids,--it was a lot going on with all that excitement and sugar overload! I went on a busy night and that's my fault. The prices are exorbitant but location is everything at National Harbor. Weekdays/Weeknights are a better choice to beat the rude teenage crowd. The selection is large but some containers were empty and stayed empty. The decor is super cute and there are lots of potential gift ideas. They definitely cater to the younger crowd but I suppose you can go elsewhere if you are looking for retro sweets (although there is a small selection at the back of the store). Overall a good location that weighs out your selection and charges A LOT. Get ready to fight the rude kids in the checkout line and pay a ton for just breathing the expensive air. It's Sugar! Is so fun and the people who work here are as well - loved talking to them about curating my chocolate bags where one literally has so many variations of chocolate only bags to make. This is a perfect spot to go before heading to someone's house as a gift. There are also mega sizes of your beloved candies, Reeces, KitKats and even Twizzlers. For the adults who like infused liquors they also serve Vodka Bottles that are about 20% filled with blue pop rocks (or maybe chipped jolly ranchers ) all you need to do is add vodka. It's sugar was a fun store to visit. There were so many candy options available. Lots of bright colors!! You can grab a bag and go around the store and put what you want in it, then it's weighed when you check out. I got different sour gummy candies. Most of them were good. I wasn't a fan of the chocolate covered gummy bears. Ewww.. The cashier's were nice. When you enter you can ask for a free sample. The store was clean and bright. We had a fun time inside. This candy store may literally have every kind of candy you're looking for! This place is fun: lively music, bright colors, oh - and lots and lots of sugar! I bought some butter beer drinks and candy for a friend. We had the butter beers (N/A) later and they were really decent. The store has lots of "fill a bag" bulk candy options as well from sugary to chocolatey. On that particular day I went, service was 50/50, but they were a little busy. Overpriced candy for sure but it's so fun! You find candy that sold everywhere else and also candy that's not sold anywhere else. It's clean and enjoyed getting the rare candy. My favorite are the pineapple jelly candy. read more

Can't pass up a candy store without going inside. Even if it is just to browse. I did more than browse. I was in need of something sweet. One of these locations always looks more glitzy from the outside. Just enough to entice you in, and then you roam about for a few minutes until you realize that there really isn't all that much inside the store. I feel like this establishment has quite the prominent location for the area. Which might explain the attraction of so many people. That and the fact that every kid that sees this more than likely pulls their parents in here. Inside you have your candy tables to mix and match what you might think you want. Different kinds and sizes of containers to make it as fancy as you want. What I suggest doing is browsing the outlier areas. Sometimes you find better items there. When compared to weighing your candy, I think you get a better deal. I did end up walking out of here with some freeze dried Skittles (which they don't call Skittles). And some candy that made me feel nostalgic. read more

This store is within view of the Wheel at National Harbor. It is a fun place to get gifts or party favors. You can purchase just a handful of candy or buy oversized treats. There were also cute novelty mugs, pillows and stuffed animals. If you are already visiting the harbor, it is worth a visit. Some of the inventory is different from the store in Chinatown. read more

Took the kids to It's Sugar so they could get a sweet treat. The store is full of different candies. It's a little overwhelming especially with the kids going crazy running all over the place! Plenty of options, chocolate, gummies , over sized candy, toys, Harry Potter candies, and an assortment of jelly beans! Covid: you must wear your mask. In addition, they have a chocolate bar and a gummy bar with plastic bags to pick a collection of treats for you and your friends. I love chocolate and quickly got sick of my chocolate selection. Staff will close the registers 10 minutes before closing time. After hauling my kids around the mall I told them I would treat them to candy if they behaved. Walked into the store at 6:48pm and they were so excited and instead of being greeted with a "hello" we were greeted with a left and right head shake, and "we are closed". I said, "I thought you closed at 7pm?" The guy responded, "yes, but we already closed the registers." Never going back simply for intentionally closing earlier than the business advertises. I won't support a business that has lazy workers. Last time I was here, the candy was on the floor. So, I'm not surprised someone else added that in their review. It's too bad because the store does have a large selection, pricey, but large. But in the end, lazy workers = business not making money from peoples' pockets. read more

This place is fine if you like a lot of overpriced gummy treats. My main issue with it is all of the profanity-laced products that are not even hidden from kids' view. At the register, right at child eye level you can find a Salty Bitch candy bar, a Dick in a Box product, and a candy g-string, complete with the model of the product on the front. All of that stuff is fine, but it's really disappointing to have it right where young children can see it and read it. It's also disappointing to have profanity-laced music blasting over the loudspeakers. Can't we just let kids be kids? We will not return here. read more

A decent candy store with an eclectic (though limited) selection of candy. From retro candy to novelty gifts, it's a fairly interesting walk through the store. They have a small selection of sugar free candy that you MUST steer clear of. They are made with malitol...I repeat, DO NOT eat the sugar free candies here. I bought the sugar free candy gummy worms and was ecstatic that they tasted exactly like the sugar laden gummies I was used to. Oh boy. I was in for an experience. It began with a change in the texture of my saliva, upon consumption my mouth began to fill with thick foamy saliva. Despite the fact I was in a climate controlled room, I broke out into a sweat. My heartbeat began to quicken as my body threw itself into fight or flight mode. I didn't know what was going on. All of a sudden sounds very similar to whale mating calls erupted from my tummy. Apparently, these sounds were warnings of the violent acts that were about to follow. I shouldered my way to the bathroom clawing at my pants while moaning in pain. I collapsed onto the toilet. The smell came first...an almost sweet and cloying smell, and then the first volley of feces hit the water like soda cans and nickels. With it came the overpowering smell of anus butter. The resulting splash drenched my bottom in foul brackish water...but this was the least of my worries. After a few moments the rumblings in my stomach hit a fever pitch. I was struck rigid with pain. Sweat was running down my eyes and I could no longer feel sensation in my lower extremities. My hands spasmed and I gasped as hot yellow poison sprayed from my rear. The rumblings changed in pitch and echo as the stream of hot liquid feces whipped around the toilet bowl, creating a nightmarish Doppler effect that can only be appreciated in hindsight. Finally. It was over. I couldn't stand up even if I wanted to. Wiping was impossible. What was once toilet paper turned into vile poop soaked toilet paper mache. A full shower was needed and my once crisp white towels needed to be burned. Over all the taste was delicious. read more
