The main concern we have is with the STAFF, all 3 of them. As I walked in (delicious smell btw), I immediately commented on the pralines he was making and said "hi, those look delicious". He looked at me, no smile and said nothing so I repeated myself. Again, nothing but a mean look on his face so I moved on. The other two weren't friendly either but at least I got the one serving me the apple to comment on her favorite flavor with some nudging. She had the longer hair. We faired no better with the one serving the ice cream. We gave up at that point on trying to ask questions or make polite conversation. Customer service is VERY important and can make or break a business.

The chocolate cone didn't taste that fresh... but it was still good. My friends didn't really like their strictly strawberry, strawberry cheesecake, or coffee flavors that much though. They were out of the coffee crunch and chocolate hazelnut which sounds like better options. The worker did make a remark in front of all the customers saying they need to stop working here during the summer and seemed stressed. I mean what do you expect for an ice cream store in a busy area on a hot day... that comment should've definitely been saved for private coworker talk. My other friends rate this place 3 stars.

The staff working there were very friendly and let us try as many flavors as we wanted. Our favorites were the loaded baked potato and the salt and vinegar popcorn. They also had a special for July (Christmas in July) where they brought back a lot of their popular holiday flavors. We tried some of these as well and they were super tasty, but ultimately we wanted savory popcorn so we got a bag of the loaded baked potato and movie theatre butter. Will definitely be back!

Food-We tried the Birthday Cake, Cookies & Cream, Caramel & Cheese Mix, and the Classic Butter. They have so many sweet and savory flavors to choose from. Now ya'll know I'm an OG popcorn lover, so I loved having lots of options. The sweet flavors I tried were a little TOO sweet for me-but if sweet popcorn is your thing, YOU might be the target audience. Give them a try and decide for yourself!!! Then there's the classic BUTTER... and have mercy, whew!!!! It was SUPER salty. Now listen, I like some salt on my popcorn, but this was overly salty. I tasted more of the salt than the butter flavor. Ambiance-Very aesthetically pleasing!!! Love the decor!!!! Parking-Rough street parking that is like trying to find Waldo #90snostalgia

We love the mission that Jake's supports and the staff is extremely helpful. It is a little on the pricey side, but that is to be expected for the area and the money goes to a good cause. O could tell that this store is relatively new here on the shopping plaza, and I was curious. The second that I saw the popcorn in their displays kind of got my sweet tooth for popcorn. Really the last time that I had popcorn was earlier this year in Mexico City. There are vendors that sell bags of popcorn for like 10 pesos $.50 and I purchased these a couple of times. After I saw real popcorn again, I could not resost to buyinh some. The aweome employee offered me a couple of ssamples to try out. They give out small samples in these small tin cups and I tried Snores and Brownie flavored popcorn. I ended up getting the small movie flavored popcorn in a bag and it was all of the popcorn flavor that I had expected. I would recommend getting at least the medium sized popcorn of whatever flavor you have in mind.

The young man working there was friendly and patient, allowing me to sample several options before making my decision. I tried flavors like pizza, steak, and cheeseburger, and surprisingly, they actually tasted like what they claimed to be. The flavor profiles were creative and authentic. I didn't stop at the savory options. I also sampled some sweet flavors and ended up taking home the banana pudding popcorn along with the cheeseburger flavor. Both were delicious and definitely different from your average movie theater popcorn. I ended up giving my cheeseburger popcorn away, and enjoyed my banana pudding flavor. I also love supporting Black-owned businesses, especially when they're bringing something unique to the area. Now for the downsides. The popcorn is a bit pricey, but to be fair, this is gourmet popcorn, not a $5 tin from the grocery store. My bigger concern was the appearance of the space. The decor felt sparse, and the back area looked a little unkempt, which took away from the overall experience. The location is also a bit unexpected, tucked into a residential apartment complex area. That said, there are other businesses nearby, and it feels like one of those up-and-coming spots that's still finding its footing. Overall, if you're looking for creative popcorn flavors and want to support a local Black-owned business, it's worth stopping by. Just don't expect a polished storefront experience--at least not yet.

We didn't think much of it at the time, but when he finally opened the first bag, only about half of the kernels had actually popped. I reached out to Popped Republic on June 30 with photos and explained the situation. I also followed up on July 2 and July 13, but never received a response. Because I had purchased this as a gift and was concerned the remaining bags could have the same issue, I was hoping the company would at least respond and offer a replacement or some type of resolution. Unfortunately, I received no communication at all and ultimately had to dispute the charge with my credit card company. I understand that issues can happen, but what was most disappointing was the complete lack of customer service and response after making multiple attempts to resolve the issue. Based on my experience, I would not order from Popped Republic again.
