She did the cleaning herself instead of a dental hygienist (nothing wrong with dental hygienists but I haven't gone to a dentist in a long time that did the cleaning themselves). The office also has a great view of the intersection of Harvard and Comm Ave and is nicely organized with open spaces. It is located on top of the McDonalds and the door is on Harvard Ave.

So I went home and went to the yellow pages (before the internet!) and I called Allston Dental. They took me right away, took xrays and gave me the news that I had a sinus infections plus a lot of cavities. So! I did end up having insurance, and I have stayed ever since. I finally started to ask friends for their suggestions and found Dr. Nui. Dr. Nui is not only faculty at Tufts Dental School..he is the Division Head of Prosthodontics and get this...HE DOES HIS OWN CLEANINGS! Seriously, that's just unheard of. Of course, that also means he only sees patients one day per week (Wednesday) so plan ahead! I have been lax in my dental visits over the last ~ 5 years and I knew I'd need several procedures. They didn't try to push everything on me at once and have been very accommodating in scheduling follow-up visits. I'll update my review once I've had more work done with them.

Only downside (and barely that) are the hours; it's difficult to make an appointment work if you work a 9 to 5 without taking a half day off, as they don't have evening or weekend hours. I thought about docking a star for that, but honestly everything else was so fantastic that it's worth a half day off every six months. Unbelievably, I'm now looking forward to returning to the dentist in 6 months!
