I left this practice because a veneer they put on in the front of my mouth discolored. They re-did it, and that one also discolored! Also, when I requested my xrays to be forwarded, they gave me a run around. Lastly, someone who works there had a profane bumper sticker on their car, and also took two spaces up. This was the most frightening experience I have ever had in a dental office. To start with my concerns about over exposure to radiation were completely disregarded by Emami Baback, and he spoke to me so rudely and in such a disparaging manner. The dental assistant shoved the X-ray films so roughly and bruised my gums! I was shocked at the experience and I suspect their only concern is carrying out enough unnecessary procedures so they can charge your insurance. I have asked them for all the information from my visit and they have refused to respond. Obviously this is not a practice that cares about the well being of their patients. I would advice anyone who cares about their health to avoid this place. Unfortunately looking at all the reviews this is a common occurrence here, sadly I did not do my research before going there. My dental insurance lapsed and when I got one of their fliers in the mail for a cleaning, I thought it was a good deal so I went. They told me I had 6 cavities. I generally don't get cavities so I went to the dentist I used to go to when I had insurance and they told me I did not have any cavities. After looking at some of the other reviews, my situation is not unique. It looks like others have experienced the same thing. This is so unethical and heart breaking to think of how many people received fillings when they didn't need them!!! read more

DON'T GO!!! I would have given this scary, unprofessional, and unethical place 0 star if this option were available. I had my worst dental experience with the dentists there, Stein and Emami. I don't think they deserve the Dr. title, so I'll just use their last names. While Stein did a filling for me the other night in the Dedham office, she DRILLED INTO MY FLESH!!! I screamed and she stopped. However, since my mouth was numbed, I didn't feel much pain right after the moment of the drilling. The pain returned a couple hours later when the anesthesia wore off, and I found a wound in my mouth in the area next to the tooth filled (interior of my face). And she also gave me 2 injections of anesthesia for 1 tooth before the fillling started. I felt extremely nauseous and dizzy afterwards, and passed out right after I arrived home. And that was not the end of the story. The next day I called them, was told that I shall go to their office in Randolph to have Emami check my wound and address the issue. I went there expecting to hear an apology and some empathy. You guess what? No apology, no empathy. Emami kept saying that my wound was an ulcer, and that "it's NORMAL to pass out after a dental procedure." He even questioned whether I was having a low sugar level the night before, but never said a "sorry." I told him I was not hungry at the appointment and the passout had nothing to do with glucose. (On the contrary, I had some food before going there in the evening. ) Those people are crazy. I was angry and told EMAMI and his assistant that it might be COMMON to pass out after a procedure WITH THEM, but it is absolutely NOT normal. And then this Emami, this man in a doctor's robe but without a doctor's heart, began to accuse me of not letting him speak!!! But who wants to continue hearing him repeat his lies?! I left without saying anything and will never return to that most horrible place in my life and those most heartless people. All 4 in my family will not return. And I will also tell my experience to people in my community as well as post this same message onto the Nextdoor neigborhood BBS. These people shall not practice as health care providers. I never leave reviews but I had to!! I had a dental cleaning yesterday and I was worried going in. My dental hygieniest Shannon was AWESOME! She made it so comfortable and made me laugh the entire time. she took my temperature and was suited up completely lol She was so gentle and funny!! she also explained so much to me. Do. Not. Go. To. This. "Dentist". Ever. Ripoff city!!!! I moved here and knew no one who could recommend a good dentist, so I just looked for one close to home through Delta Dental's website and found this place. With articles all over the walls from various Boston-area newspapers and magazines, it appeared as though this practice was quite renowned and skilled in dentistry. Cosmetic dentistry, perhaps, but not general dentistry! They have a very heavy emphasis on "Conscious Sedation", advertising it in all of their literature. I originally went in because of some pain in a molar and I was concerned about the filling, as well as being due for a cleaning. After a cleaning and xrays, I was told I would need EXTENSIVE dental work done- to the tune of over $6,000 dollars (with insurance)! Root canals, crowns, possible extractions... wtf? I've always had dental insurance and taken care of my teeth. I went to a great dentist in my previous state who did great work, and now I need a boatload of corrective procedures done?? They waited all of about 2 seconds before whipping out the financial paperwork to get me signed up for a Care Credit card to finance the cost. They had me in the exam room chair, scaring the $h!t out of me about extractions if I didn't take care of it, blah blah blah, submitted my credit info with several financing companies (this has a negative effect on credit rating, btw) and came back with four payment plan options. All I could see was his gold chain bracelet and signet ring flashing as he gestured at me, "Lemme tell you something. You [have beautiful teeth], [don't want to let this go], [need to take care of this now] [have nothing to worry about, we're going to take care of you]." I was so dumbfounded and upset at how much this was all going to cost that it took leaving the office and heading to work for me to sort out that this guy was a sham and they were looking to make some serious bucks off of anyone walking through the door. I got a second opinion by finding another dentist through 1-800 Dentist and choosing a very small practice that didn't emphasize cosmetic dentistry. Not surprisingly, it turned out the tooth pain was a leaky filling, the other teeth that needed root canals and crowns just needed the fillings replaced. A few hundred dollars later I am pain-free, teeth-healthy, and thankful I was smart enough to get a second opinion. I fear for the number of people (especially women) who walk into this guy's office and believe and do whatever this guy says! Another couple of things: I mentioned to the tech cleaning my teeth, as well as the dentist, that I had had an issue with gum disease several years ago and had a scaling done. This should have immediately prompted them to do a complete periodontal exam, or made sure I had an appointment to have one done, which involves a probe check for pockets between the teeth and gums. This is standard procedure for anyone who has receding gum issues. They did not do this exam, nor ever mention it, even though it is an integral part of a dental cleaning. My new dentist did it on the first visit! They immediately billed Care credit for the total amount they ESTIMATED would be the cost of all this work, then had to credit it back when I canceled the appointment they made that day to have the work done. The dentist said "he'd have to see when he got in there" what was going on and whether any tooth needed to be pulled, so why would they bill me for an exact dollar amount and charge it before knowing for sure what needed to be done? Also, I called and told them I needed my X-rays for a second opinion. When I picked them up later that day the dentist was in the front office and started coaching me on what I should be asking the other dentist, telling me they probably didn't offer sedation options, etc, etc, trying to scare me out of it! Rip Off! Do not go there. They tell you one thing and then you end up getting charged more becuase the insurance "downgraded" the plan. They did not explain the work to be done clearly and then they try to pin in on the insurance. They can clearly call the insurance and get the correct information but instead they did not. I would not go back there! and I do not recomend them at all either! read more

DON'T GO! they wanted to do all this work to my teeth that was unnecessary! root canals, crowns, re-doing my fillings. Long story short, they filled one cavity and didn't clean it well enough...SO, after my tooth was still hurting and I went to my old dentist and he was furious because they left some of my cavity under the filling! They didn't even do it correctly!! Now I need to get my records from there, bring it to my old dentist (who is an hour and a half away) and have him fix what THEY did wrong :( read more

Don't Go. After moving near by, I decided to make an appointment for a "cleaning", after doing x-rays, they proceeded to tell me that FOURTEEN of my teeth were in desperate need of cavities,possibly even root canals. I have never had any serious problems with my teeth, and I take care of them as advised by every dentist I have ever seen. I have never experienced tooth pain or sensitivity and according to all my past dentists, I am very healthy. Before leaving, they scheduled my next appointment telling me that we would begin with 2 teeth and it would cost me about $200. -After leaving this appointment nervous and slightly embarrassed, I went back the next week to begin my treatment. When I walked in they said "okay so we will be filling 3 teeth and that will cost about $400. I told them I only wanted to do 2 teeth today because three sounds like a lot for my teeth to handle at once. I left this appointment in more pain than I had ever experienced from a dentist. I went back the next week to get 2 more filled and they told me I still had many more cavities to fill. They told me we would start from one side so at least I would "have a side to chew food on" They also told me, I was most likely going to need some root canals after these appointments but they won't tell until after I get these cavities filled (that sounds like A LOT of money) I decided after this appointment not to go back and to receive a second opinion from another dentist. This new dentist told me to discontinue any more treatment they offered me because it was hurting me instead of helping me. He told me they have been over treating me and NONE of my teeth needed more work. The employees, including the dentist, seemed very nice and I am sure they are, however they practice unethical dentistry and they are more interested in your wallet than your health. read more

Terrified of a the dentist but since I started going to dental specialties it's not such a big deal to me. They've handled root canals, fillings, cleanings and recessed gum surgery. They've been kind, patient with my paranoia and professional. Most of all they do great work and really care about my not being terrified while at their office. To me, they've been revolutionary. I was so afraid of the dentist for my whole life and because of this I never went. Dr. Ermani and his office were so gentle and compassionate that I was able to go through the implant process with them holding my hand. I had six implants done and they are so terrific that I can eat anything. I wish that I had the process done years ago. I would recommend Dr. Ermani and his staff to everyone. IT STARTED OUT BUMPY BUT GOT BETTER OVER TIME but NOT CHEAP. Wish I knew that... I have NEVER been a fan of the dentist. The sounds, smells, and PAIN!!! But my bottom front teeth were loose for the longest time and worsening by the month, and at this point I was drawing blood from my gums just drinking water so I HAD TO DO SOMETHING. One day I got this mailer and it spoke to conscious sedation and painless dental work. So I took a chance and went. The first time was awful. I was afraid, and in pain after the x-rays. FYI folks - always ask them to use a rounder for the mouth plate thing cuz it will cut into your gums, some how NOT THEIR initial thought idk why. After a while I met with the doctor. He was direct and to the point, cosigning what I had been told years ago; that I had severe gum disease and a few of my teeth would need to come out. I was devastated. But before they could come out I needed a scaling for my whole mouth, to be fitted for falsies,then the extraction, then putting them back in. He went over the care plan in great detail, making sure I understood everything. All I could think about was how broke I am and how much worse off I'd be financially after all this work, and I said so. But Dr. Emami wouldn't discuss money (Mike, one of his clinical assistants would later walk me through all the money stuff - he was GREAT) and assured me this was necessary and he'd do all he could to save what teeth he could. I felt cared for. As the months progressed and we worked through the outlined care plan my fears and anxieties dissipated. The staff are so friendly, kind, and caring. Dr. Emami always explained what he did, and what was going to be done next. I did feel, however, at some visits he rushed through my appointment and did not take the time to let me think about follow up questions and discuss some concerns - so I felt flustered. I had to have extensive periodontal work, done by Dr. Solowsky who was also very kind and explained things thoroughly. Ok, being sedated for these procedures were great for me! I didn't remember a thing. Nichole, the nurse, was right by my side, and made me feel safe and comfortable until I was out of it. The Dental assistants are always friendly and treated me very well. I am still on my journey. Having had to take out a Care Credit card to pay for all the work, that was not something I was prepared to do. I'm still not done. I have 4 teeth missing and am not sure how I will pay for the rest of the work to be done. I had to take out an $8k loan for the extraction and from what I understand (now that my teeth have been pulled - NOT EXPLAINED THIS BEFORE THEY PULLED THEM) will need another $10k to put them back! The cost of all of this work was something I was not prepared for. I felt like the urgency of getting all of this done at once may have been imposed on me. And the reality of what procedures will and will not be covered by insurance, I felt, was down played for the sake of getting the work done right away. FYI - DON'T GET PRESSURED OR RUSHED TO DO THE WORK ASAP...CALL YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY, DO YOUR BUDGET...FIGURE OUT THE MONEY CUZ IT'S GOING TO COST..ESPECIALLY THE SEDATION PART. With all that being said, my experience with Dental Specialties of Dedham and Randolph was really good. I feel comfortable with the care I got and the way I was treated, and am treated, over all. I think I would have liked to have a better understanding of the financial ramifications of the entire journey so I could make a better informed decision. I don't feel like I was cheated, like I've read in other posts. I have even referred my husband to Dr. Emami's practice and will continue to receive care with them. read more

Horrible place!! Dentist was telling me to have extra services and when I said "nah" he got upset and asked me to "get more money". I had a cavity filled and it popped out while I was flossing! Called them to tell them what happened and they could care less! They suck at what they do. Services are horrible and so is the work they did!! read more
