My husband's racing tradition is to have menudo after, so we found this restaurant. We pulled up just before they opened at 11 and people were already coming in so that's a great sign. It was pretty crowded by 11:10! I ordered quesabirria with no rice and he got his menudo that didn't come with hominy. It was $1 extra. The salsa was fresh tasting and the chips were crispy. My quesabirria was good! I know the tortillas break down with cooking but I wish it didn't have two tortillas for each taco. That's just me. Doesn't mean it wasn't really good. They don't serve it with onion and cilantro like back home so I stole my husband's for his menudo. The consommé was super tasty and I loved it with the onion, cilantro and radish. The refried beans were good but missing something. I guess they were different beans than what we use in Texas. I know I sound like I'm complaining but, really it's very good. Bright, clean and welcoming. I recommend.

    Quesabirria tacos and broth

In town for the wrestling tournament, and found this great Mexican spot 10 mins from Fargodome. It's worth the drive. Get the Quesabirria tacos... if you've never heard of these, give them a try, if you know what these are you'll be happy with these special tacos. As a bonus the young waitress who served me was very friendly and attentive.

We stop in at least once a week here and they never disappoint. Their birria and pastor is phenomenal! Great service, great people, outstanding food!

Ok so I'm from CA. Haven't been able to find really good pozole for a while unless it's from la única which is one specific days of the week. This place not only serves it but I'll be damn, it's damn good. My friend referred me here and I don't regret it. So good. Service is great and you're met with a smile! Lengua tacos were delicious and horchata is how I remember it best! The chips are warm too which is so wonderful

Quesabirria cooked beef in corn tortillas with melted cheese and a spicy broth for dipping

A hidden gem hiding in plain sight. The food is the best kept secret in Fargo. The tacos were spicy with tons of flavor. The meat was rich and moist served on crispy but not crunchy shells with melted cheese. Onions cilantro and radishes to add crunch and a sense of lightness. Service was prompt and courteous. The ambience is nothing special to look at. Very stripped down and minimal, but the space was clean.

Amazing food, quick service! My new favorite place in town. Better than all of the Mexican restaurants in town.

The place was loud and busy when we walked in, though that seemed to be part of the atmosphere. There's also quite a bit of outdoor seating available. The menu is pretty standard for what you'd expect from a Midwest Mexican restaurant. One difference is that they make fresh guac tableside. Caveat emptor: you do pay extra for this. The complimentary chips come with three different dips, which was a nice touch. Not sure what the rest of our party ordered, but I had the Fiesta Bowl and it was delish. Staff were super friendly and helpful.

The atmosphere was fun and welcoming, and the service was quick and friendly. I started with the blueberry margarita, and it was so good -- super refreshing and packed with flavor. For my meal, I ordered the Burrito Mex and subbed shrimp. It was delicious, even though I originally thought it would be more of a handheld burrito -- it wasn't, but the flavor made up for it! The rice and beans were amazing, perfectly seasoned, and the queso was incredibly good too. Honestly, everything on the plate hit the spot. We also ordered guacamole before our meals, and they made it right at the table, which was such a fun touch. It came out super fresh and customizable, just how we like it. Overall, Plaza Azteca was a great experience!!

There were a few things that happened on this visit that if corrected I think could have made it a five star experience. We arrived with a party of 5 and two kids. One not old enough to eat and one about 4. We waited a bit longer at the front than was expected, with people noting us but no one coming to help -- and this may be them being short staffed. When we got staff they didn't ask about a chair for the kiddo or booster seat (we considered the former but made a chair work). They had no coloring or activity book for the kids to do, which was hard. They had TVs which semi helped but we were far from them. We ordered and two of us are dairy free and one is gluten free. When ordering the shrimp tacos they arrived with no cheese but the sauce on top was not written on the menu that it was on there and our server did not inform us even after hearing no dairy. This was easily preventable and a little frustrating but overall something a person with allergies is used to. She did get our meals remade quickly and without dairy which was super nice. Diana was kind and also extremely diligent about waters, dishes and refills. She also ordered our kids meal immediately which was helpful and answered questioned we had. I will definitely be back without kiddos to because the tacos were so good, the sauce that came on the side of the shrimp tacos was spicy, yet flavorful.
