This place used to be one of our go-to spots, but unfortunately this visit will probably be our last. The service was okay. Our server was attentive, but a smile or a little friendliness would have gone a long way. We had two kids with us who ordered chicken strips and fries. When we asked for ketchup, we were given tiny packets that seemed to contain about three drops each. By the time I finished opening packet after packet, squeezing every last molecule of ketchup out, and creating a sticky mess on the table, my food was cold. The same could be said for the ranch containers--small, cheap, and gone before you knew it. I felt like I was preparing condiments for a fast-food drive-thru rather than dining in a restaurant. Despite seeing the first two reviews of this place being negative, that was definitely not our experience. The staff was attentive and friendly. We sat on the patio, which was nice and big. The surrounding glass panels are nice to likely block the wind. I laughed out loud when I saw the size of my margarita - which was about the size of my head! I ordered the Pina Loca which was very good and served in a pineapple, and came with three tortillas. read more

AMAZING. Coming from New Mexico, I've had a hard time finding quality Mexican food. This place is SO good. The ambiance is amazing - we loved the decor and the layout of the restaurant. We were immediately greeted and then seated. They make table side guacamole that is TO DIE FOR. It was so good that we took some extra home with us for bagels and snacks throughout the week. The prices are really reasonable for the quality of food you're getting. They have really cool margarita flights that give you A LOT for the price. I expected 4 little cups of margarita and I got 4 mini patron bottles FULL of margarita. I'll definitely be back. read more

After hearing a lot of hype about this restaurant, we tried it out. It smelled great when we walked in and we were anticipating a great meal. The table side guacamole was delicious, as well as the salsas. My wife ordered the chicken chimichanga, which when it arrived, it looked like 2 flautas and was not a deep fried burrito. She enjoyed it, but it was a bit dry. I had the enchiladas rancheras. I asked for cheese and onion enchilada, and it had no onions. The sauce tasted like tomato soup and was inedible, enchiladas sauce from a can would have been 100 times better. The rice and beans were very good. Atmosphere wise, it was incredibly noisy and we were unable to have a conversation. The draft beer came in a frosted mug, but was still warm (?). Our server was pleasant and efficient. All in all, it was a ok experience, not a great experience. read more

I don't understand. That's the only way I can begin this review. Having heard such excellent things and being told "this is exactly what the food tastes like in Mexico", I'm just utterly baffled by the culinary experience I just had. It was just...SO boring. Just plain. The tables desperately need hot sauce for guests who enjoy stronger flavors to be able to spice up the meal. They began with the complementary chips and salsa. And the salsa? So terrible. And even worse--it tasted sweet to me (ew I hate sweet salsa). It tasted like a jar of mild Pace salsa that someone threw one Serrano pepper seed into every few bites. I looked to see if there was hot sauce on the table, but alas I was not so fortunate. I am not a fan of white sauces to begin with, and that one was way worse than the other one I'd recently eaten. Granted, the last one I ate was in Richmond, Virginia at Mi Jalisco, so it's unlikely many of my Fargo followers/readers have been there. But still, I've DEFINITELY had better versions. If you've read my review for Mi Casita in Charlottesville, VA, you know that I don't judge a restaurant by its salsa, so I was still optimistic about dinner, and I just settled for naked chips. Having been told this place is "the best" in town, I decided to do a back-to-back comparison. On Saturday, I had chicken street tacos at Mangos that were perfectly flavorful and delicious. Typical 5 star fare as I expect when I go there. So, I compared them with the ones here. Mangos blew this place out of the water on portion, value, and flavor. At mangos, I got much bigger sizes of tortillas. I am partial to corn tortillas, especially being that I'm allergic to wheat. The mangos tortillas have a much better corn flavor. Considering I'm writing this review from the bathroom, I do not believe the shells I just ate were wheat free (so celiacs who have a much worse reaction than me--BEWARE). The chicken? Where do I even begin? I've made chicken with salt, pepper, onion and garlic powders and infused olive oil with 10x the amount of flavor. It was just...pathetic. I mean I again instinctively looked for hot sauce, but none was to be found. I was longing for my bottle of Cholula green pepper hot sauce (the best Cholula flavor--a hill I will die on). They had served said tacos with a salsa that at least thought about being a medium salsa, but it, too, lacked any real heat. I mean it was like Mild salsa you buy in store for 30% more than the pace salsa. So at least this one had flavor? But yeah, not worth the calories. I make a much better salsa at home, and I'm 0% Mexican (although I admittedly got my recipe from a friend who immigrated). It was infinitely better than the starter salsa, but I still didn't eat it because, why? The lime did enough. But truly, the flavor comparison was shocking. This restaurant delivered in the sense the chicken was perfectly moist though! So props to them for that, because that can be a hard thing to do. But Mangos keeps chicken moist while giving it flavor. So again, go there instead. The waiter was nice. The ambiance was boring but clean. So if I think this restaurant was so inferior, why 2 stars instead of one? Well, a couple reasons. 1. The food was boring as heck, but edible. If you like non spicy, boring food (which apparently many people do since this place is POPPIN), This is a great choice for you! If I go back, I'll just start by asking for their hottest hot sauce, because their record leads me to believe it will be a decent medium. 2. I ordered the Virgin Paloma and it was great! Highly recommend. I'm guessing the alcoholic version is also good. Could be a fun place for drinks, especially if you live nearby and wanted to walk. 3. No complaints about waiter or ambience. The food is very overrated at this place. Has Fargo just not had good food before? Their shredded chicken comes from a can and you can smell it the moment they serve it to you. The rice is dry and the sauces are also from a can. The drinks are huge and pretty but become watered down within minutes. Overall the food was not good. Taco Shop makes a much better Chimichanga and it's actually crispy. The service was fine nothing spectacular and the ambiance is giving Im trying to be a modern city restaurant but with no real style. It comes off cold and boxy and not comfortable at all. Go back to the drawing board find some investors willing to invest in a long term plan, designer and a brand and a chef. Otherwise the hype is going to die in 3-2-1 read more

Excellent food but the waiter was horrible! Never asked once for refills or how the food was. We asked for more chips and cheese dip he said I'll go get some he disappeared and was just standing in the back talking the whole time to other co worker's. We then asked another worker for refills and more chips and they never brought them.then are waiter came to bring are check we told him how the service was he just laughed very very poor service won't be back! read more
