I go back in and ask if I could get them, she says that'll be an extra charge, I mentioned I had asked for beans when I called. Most places don't charge you when it's their mistake; they did, oh well no big deal right. While waiting their lovely younger staff proceed to talk about the fact that I came back in complaining about not getting beans, while laughing. I might be white but my boyfriend's family, who I live with all speak Spanish, so I caught on to enough to know it was about me and not very nice.

Last weekend, August 14/15 it looked like downtown Boise with all the cones and barrels, but everything is paved there now and on S Lincoln Ave. So, there is no excuse to not make a stop if traveling east on the freeway. Our group was there for the 28th annual Joe Mama's car show. The menus are priced slightly lower at Twin Falls, Jerome and Elko than Garden City and Jerome seem to attract a strong base of families. Menus were new and colorful, easy to read. Ordering is simple, there is a number assigned to each item. For example, lunch had twenty items, all $9.75. We had called ahead and a table for 13 was already set up. Service was efficient, prompt, friendly and they were able to explain any questions on the menu. The first baskets of chips and salsa and bean dip (3) are complimentary, additional is an extra $2.45. I always like to try a Chile Verde Burrito and added a tamale, $13.50 + $7.50 and a Corona. Extra big portions, the Verde sauce and cheese were also plentiful. The pork was tender; it was cut into small chunks so not as flavorful when simmered with larger bites. The tamale masa was delicious, the inside marinated pork had a ground texture. My favorite tamales in the Boise area continues to be at La Esperanza Bakery in Nampa. I tried my friend's Shrimp Cocktail, some good-sized shrimp on top of a glass with salsa, chopped shrimp, avocado, onions, etc. He also ordered one of the seafood specialties, bacon wrapped shrimp and shared a little of that also. When I come back I'd order either one of those shrimp items. But... the theatrical bowl of goodies called a Molcajete Loco that I saw delivered to several tables would be my choice if dining with my wife as it is showy; it steams coming to the table and is definitely shareable, just over $30. The queso dip served with tortillas is a real bargain and both kids and adults like the cheese quesadilla.

I felt like I…read morewas at Craters of the Moon in their parking lot...potholes so big they'll swallow a small child. That might be the only swallowing you see as the food is better off left on the plate than in your mouth. I see they're going for that Chinexican vibe as they didn't even remove the pagoda hip-and-gable roof from the sign. The interior screams Chinese, but the music was so loud, perhaps it's also a nightclub. If you're of a smaller stature, maybe this will be an ego boost. While 3 bucks a pop, the tacos are so tiny you'll feel like a giant. At least they are easy to hide in a napkin though, so yippee for tacos so small they could be an amuse bouche. The mojarra resembled a washed up fish that sun dried for years on lake's edge. Send it swimming unless you're one of the few with a pet seagull. Enchiladas...what a fun word. Take comfort in that flick of the tongue as the food will only disappoint. At least we got to revel in the caucaphony of loud radio music competing with a live Mariachi band in the sectioned off back for a 40th birthday party. It's like dueling pianos, but more schizophrenic. Maybe you'll enjoy that dinner and theater vibe. You might even laugh that you didn't believe this review. In the end...I told you so!
