Location: Stonestown Galleria [San Francisco] My teen loves this store and since I never know what style or type of merchandise she likes it's safe to just get her a Vans gift card during my Christmas shopping last weekend. Less headache for me and convenient for the both of us. I arrived at Stonestown around 9:30a on a Saturday. The mall was open but the stores had not opened yet. Before going to Vans I stopped at another store first to take care of some shopping there before it got crowded. I then made my way to the upper level at Vans. I only saw one employee inside the store. Immediately he greeted me as soon as I stepped inside. The gift card transaction took about 5 mins and I was in and out of the store in no time. Good selection, helpful workers, fair prices. They have a pretty good selection of clothing and shoes, with many options on skate shoes. Personally, I feel that these are some of the best skate shoes on the market. I wouldn't say this is a skate shop, however they are good for skate clothes and shoes. read more

I came here with my boyfriend to pick out some shoes for the late portion of my Christmas present. It was unfortunate that they didn't have much of a selection of the shoes I saw online that I really wanted to try on in person, but I fell absolutely in love with these beautiful brown-yellow sk8-mid mte's on sale! They were all out of my size, so Coleman (the guy helping us) suggested I try on a 8.5, which I did-- But I've gotten shoes half sizes bigger/smaller before & it really does make a difference. Coleman sensed my disappointment & offered to see if they had my size online. Thankfully, they had size 8 available & Coleman handed the tablet over for my boyfriend to fill out with his billing information, & just like that, we were done & on our way! Classic Vans (all white slip ons) were a part of my middle school band uniform, along with white pants, a white shirt and white gloves. The school provided the blazer, cravat, and hat w/ a plume. While part of me is glad to see that Vans are still around, they're just not my style (they're too casual and unisex). However, I shop at the store for other people and I see that Vans has expanded their lineup of shoes to include clunky, huge shoes for skater types (I don't see the appeal) and new prints including bats, Slayer, hearts, plaids, etc. (okay, I like the bats). You can build your own at vans.com The Vans store sells more than shoes. They also have tee shirts, hoodies, socks, backpacks, purses, studded belts, pants, scarves, and hats for men, boys, and women. And they have skate decks and accessories. The brand has a casual, distinctive look, though it's similar to what you what get at Zumiez. Prices are similar to Zumiez too (moderate). I like the emphasis they have on stripes and checkerboard patterns. And I like the knee high striped socks - they're comfy and mostly cotton. I have not bought a pair of vans in over 3 years or so, but going back to this store brought back so many memories of why vans is the original canvas shoe. I got 2 pairs of lace up canvas classics! Yah 2 pairs, you heard right. This store is a lot better than the store in Westfield. They have a great array of clothes, decks, and shoes. Probably the better of the two Vans locations in San Francisco. What's there to expect? If you need a pair of Vans shoes or merch, it's the place to drop in. There are probably better selections on-line from the Vans site, but if you need in person, this is your place. As far as skateboard parts or decks go, yer prolly better off walking down to Zumiez min the mall (or even better DLXSF, Purple Skunk or SK8's on Haight) but everything Vans in person, this is it. read more

Over the last two years I've spent about $600 in shoes here for my kids and me. Today I tried exchanging a pair of shoes I had purchased recently and were not the right fit. When I purchased them the sales rep had said they would stretch out a little bit, but they didn't and were very uncomfortable. The sales rep provided no service at all, and within two second and declared them to be too worn for an exchange (they weren't). He was too good to help and clearly didn't care he was going to lose future business. They have a good selection and must be really busy to have such crappy service. I will go back to try shoes on but only buying from Nordstrom's or Zappos where the customer service is significantly better. read more

Vans is one of my favorite stores. I've been wearing their shoes for years and I've gone to dozens of different stores, but this was the first store that I felt compelled to write a review for. The products Vans sells are good, but they are very similar from store-to-store. Thus what I am basing this rating on is the level of customer service that I received the 3 or 4 times I have visited. Every time I have walked into this store someone young and friendly has greeted me with a smile. I instantly feel welcomed and relaxed. If I need anything, be it another size or information, all of the associates are knowledgeable and helpful. It may not seem like much, but in a mall packed with workers who hate their jobs, this store stands out to me as a place that people want to work at (and by extension I want to shop at). i picked up a top and some cool pants being i couldn't find any decent tweed at zumiez and i found this spot a real easy shop to navigate. it seems like the visual merchandising needs some help or a bit more creativity as the one thing that stands out most to me are socks. sure socks are important, essential, but when you have as much space as they do..one would think they would at least make an attempt on transmitting some brand messages with cool lifestyle type ads or just simple mannequin dressing. they have a great selection of all the newest kicks in the backwall and the staff are non-existent, which is just fine by me. read more

I went to Vans to exchange a gift and I ended up falling in love with their shoes and their staff. Vans has come a long way from just clunky skate shoes. They have a great selection of shoes. I have wide feet and most of the shoes are wide! Super comfy. Jeff helped me out with my shoes by showing me all the features and styles. He was super polite and helpful. Superb and friendly staff. I came to replace my set of Vans. Abby, Cole, and Austin "helped" me and somehow I walked out with 3 sets of shoes. And there was no whining from having to work holiday hours like some folks at other stores. Abby got me with the MTE shoes and Cole got me with the pro line of shoes. I'm always annoyed after I visit this Vans store. Selection has been hit or miss in the past, but maybe canvas slip-ons are not so popular any more? Who knows. They will treat you like a criminal when you return product that the manager doesn't recognize. After all since when is ID necessary when you have the original receipt? I had my full receipt tags and everything attached. Not my problem that you don't recognize your own new products. I intended to ask for a price adjustment since I had purchased the item in store before checking that the online price was much better, and i wanted to keep the item. The associate seemed ready to process my request until the manager, the male with the beard came up and snatched my receipt claimed that oh great he didn't recognize my item and said that oh! Instore prices are usually better yada yada. ... I told him well the online price is better so can you match it, if not im going to return it. So in the end im just waiting for my online order to arrive. Quite annoying for a full price item. read more

I had to exchange a defective pair of shoes the other day. The one shoe had a big air bubble in the center of the shoe between the inner and outer sole. Oliver the cashier at the Stonestown store couldn't have been nicer and more helpful! In fact all of the workers there that evening on 5/24/19 were all very friendly and courteous! Pretty bad customer service, except for this one asian girl working there that seemed to be doing all the work. I asked for a pair of chukka lows once and a guy asked me what those were. After pointing out the exact color and size, he came out with the wrong shoe model in a completely different color. Could have just been an honest mistake, but I've experienced things like this more than once. I love Vans shoes but always feel bad about buying my stuff from here. read more

This Vans is awesome! all of my experiences for the past year have been wonderful and the employees are friendly, charming and really nice. Through the year, i had no clue what i was looking for, and a few employees helped me out. I could see these employees were a few years older than me, and probably didn't give a crap about me, but they helped me find what i was looking for (new shoes and jeans) and they never got tired of my questions about random things throughout the store. I love their jeans, and constantly buy from them. Each time i go in, no one hollars at me about specials or follows me, but i get friendly employees and awesome service. Workers are really descriptive about each and every item, and i've been keeping an eye on their boards-which are also pretty sick. I would highly recommend this Vans store, more than any other one. Even though their stuff is crazy expensive and somewhat fairly priced the awesome service at atmosphere is worth it. It's all spacious inside, with dressing rooms, so even if it gets busy inside, there's still plenty of space to move around and not feel like someone's watching you. In this store there seems to be a trend-lots of skaters, duh, and just casual dressers. It's weird seeing hipsters, hip or punk people come in here as it's the opposite style of what they usually wear, but whatever. read more

Vans are classics - they just never go out of style! This store carries exactly what I needed in all different colors, varieties, and styles. The wide range of sizes made it easy for my big flippers to slide into a comfortable pair of weekend sneakers. The staff was also laid back and helpful, which made the experience pleasant. OMG! This is such an amazing store, the best Vans I've ever shopped at. I would give this place 6 stars if i could. It is way bigger than the downtown store and the associates are way helpful. Two girls helped me there (Lina and Nicole), they were soo nice and got me not just my shoes but these other ones I didnt see, which i end up buying anyway. There was this one obnoxious feller (justin, i believe) who wouldnt stop talking to me and kept offering me socks. He was trying to use his sex appeal on me but i was totally not diggin his style. Overall, the place was excellent. If all of the workers were like the two girls that helped me this place would be the best. read more
