Hiring Oleksii to design our gut-renovated 3 bedroom 2 bath apartment in NYC was easily the best decision we made in the entire renovation process. Oleksii and his team are professional, reliable, reply to every request promptly, and are simply perfectionists. Every detail is anticipated and well-executed. Without him and his detailed designs and blueprints, the actual construction phase would have been nightmarish. Everyone who saw Oleksii's designs during the planning phase thought they were actual photos taken of our completed project! You WILL get what you are looking for with Oleksii and his team. We had our designs reviewed by a high-end Manhattan designer/contractor (whose quote was approximately 2-3x what we paid for Oleksii plus contractor) who was initially dismissive and condescending about our having our own designer. The team at Vanguard did an outstanding job in doing end to end redesign and construction of our apartment. They were very good at taking our vision and translating into detailed space layout and true-to-life visualizations of spaces. We iterated a few times on these to settle on the final design and then they costed and executed the project. Before hiring Vanguard I started working with a "highly" recommended designer proposed by the real estate agent and the designer was not even able to produce professional grade layout solutions - rather just sending me a constant stream of "ideas" clipped from elsewhere on the internet. I think what the the folks at Vanguard offer is unique to the extent that they really are able to show you the final product before you commit to reconstructing your space. In our case we converted a loft space into dedicated functional areas that were beautifully split up (kitchen, dining area, mini-office, etc.) - this is a pretty complex project and it requires installing new walls, rewiring connections, etc. and you really want to know that its going to work before you go ahead. In this context we would not have been able to achieve what we've achieved without Vanguard. Once the design is agreed, they will cost all the individual items of the design (including all proposed furnishings) and will give you a turn-key budget for exactly what you see. read more

The process took longer than expected but he took time to understand our functional needs as well as design aesthetic for our kitchen, and gave us multiple layout options, then blueprints, and finally designs to choose from at each step of the process. He also helped us get multiple bids for construction and various pieces of the project to help us get the best price and service, even having a vendor redo portions of the cabinets which were not up to his quality standards. I hired Oleksii at Vanguard to do a full kitchen gut design and renovation. At least 800sq ft. We wanted an interior designer who can also draw architectural plans. Not only was Oleksii able to do both, he is also very detailed and responsive in communication. There was a guided step by step process. From specifying out what we wanted. To working with multiple floor plans and layout. After settling on one, he would draw out and measure all the specifications so the builder knew exactly what to build and what went where. A replacement project for damaged stairs and monument signs was completed without City permits. We were cited, and needed to produce after the fact architectural drawings, design and engineering drawings so we could apply for a permit.
