On Sunday 8/2, my Jeep entered limp mode in Forest Lake (2 hours from home) due to an electronic…read morethrottle body issue. I had it towed to Wizards because they claimed to be open Sundays and promised a Monday morning diagnosis and same-day repair. Monday 8/3, the shop confirmed the issue. They quoted $750 ($150/hr for a 4-hour book job + part) and claimed the part was in their network for same-day completion. I had to call at 3:30 PM for an update, only to learn they didn't get the part. I was forced to book a hotel. Tuesday 8/4, after no updates by 2 PM, I reached out. An employee claimed the part was in St. Cloud, guaranteed same-day completion so we wouldn't need another hotel, and said he was driving to get it. At 8:30 PM, I walked by the shop. The gates were open and lights were on, but the shop was completely abandoned and unlocked. I had to secure their entrance door and find a second hotel at 8:30 PM. No one responded to my calls or texts. they did finally respond claiming the part arrived late and they had completed "most of the repair." And were "so super sorry" for lack of communication and it would be completed early Wednesday morning. However, when I arrived on Wednesday morning, staff contradicted this and stated they just received the part that morning. On Wednesday 8/5, the repair was finally done at 4:48 PM. They attempted to charge $2,100, stating their "book is wrong as it's an 8 hour job". Note: The maximum book time for this repair is 4 hours (confirmed by two independent mechanics). The employee couldn't itemize the part cost or explain the extra $1,350 charge as it did not align with the quote, part, or hourly shop rate provided. When I refused and cited my $350 in unexpected hotel bills, the worker immediately dropped the price to $1,200 to cover 8hrs labor, and finally back to the original $750 + tax quoted when I didn't agree. I paid via Venmo because their credit card machine had apparently been taken back by the processor according to employee. The employee openly admitted he only asked for $2,100 to show his boss "on camera" that he tried to get "full price". The owner followed up after review with an invoice never provided to me showing $1800 (didn't match anything provided provided prior) also stating additional parts/service was done without prior knowledge to me. Upon reviewing the receipt, the "10% tax" they charged me ($71.20) was actually itemized as undisclosed "shop fees" because, come to find out today, auto labor is tax-exempt in MN. They mispresented this fee. Between $350 in forced hotel stays and $71.20 in false "tax" fees, I am out $421.20 purely due to their delays and deception. Save your money and time-go literally anywhere else.
