Even when my roots start coming in, the color blends so naturally that my hair still looks fabulous and never feels like I'm overdue for an appointment. It's that timeless hair color and effortless, natural looking hair that I really love. I get so many compliments, and considering how much we lighten my dark hair, I'm always amazed that it never feels dry or brittle. Nikko is very gentle with the processing and really understands Asian hair and how to achieve lighter tones without sacrificing the health of your hair. He works with you throughout the process to get the results you want and also gives wonderful advice on keeping your hair healthy between appointments, like not blow drying with high heat every day, lowering the temperature on your flat iron, and always using a leave in conditioner with heat protectant. I scheduled the appointment for 10am on a Saturday, and then I got a call where they would do the haircut at 10am, and then the color at 10:30am. My stylist for the haircut was Alexander and he was so nice! He explained every step and made sure I was comfortable as we went along. This was also a dry cut, which I've never had. I was about to take my glasses off, and he asked that I keep them on since I wear them most of the time and he wanted to ensure my haircut would essentially accommodate it. I've never had a stylist ask me that before and it makes perfect sense. So now my hair frames my face well, with and without my glasses. After the haircut was the color with Zoe and it was a relaxing experience. I wanted to fall asleep (I'm the type that falls asleep to ASMR videos especially with combing and wooden makeup sounds). Then it was a shampoo and style with another stylist. I called that day my self-care Saturday, and I felt so relaxed and refreshed after being there for nearly 3 hours. Now that my hair has grown out a bit, it still looks good. I love the layers that Alexander created, which took my now naturally wavy hair into account (my hair has been getting wavier as I'm aging). I feel like my grays aren't blending as well as the color fades. Maybe it's because the new shampoo I'm using may be too good at retaining the color. At a certain angle, it's very apparent where the dye ends and where my grays start. But you'd have to be shorter than me to see it, and I'm pretty short. Overall the color still looks great and tbh I don't think anyone is noticing my gray roots at the moment. The cost of the haircut and color was over $400 with tip. But my hair is still looking fantastic a month in. And this is something I'll probably do twice a year, so it's something I can save up for.

Doesn't matter if you are looking for just a trim or something new, I truly recommend him! I've been seeing Vaner for almost 2 years now and, honestly, I don't let anyone else touch my hair. When I first looked for a stylist in the area, I needed someone who understood how to work with Latin hair (my hair changes texture and can be difficult to style for those not used to it). I happened to notice his studio was across the street from my office at the time and I gave it a try. I haven't looked back. I show him the cut I'm interested in and we always work together to figure out the best result for me. I trust him wholeheartedly and always feel at ease with him. He hits the nail on the head every single time, especially when I ask him for unusual color styles (our latest experiment was full, vibrant purple with a layered bob). My hair looks and feels healthy whenever I walk out of his studio and everyone always compliments the work done. read more

First time I went to Vaner was in October 2015. I used to have medium length hair with layers. He changed it to a very chic and short bob. I loved it. He also gave me very pretty caramel highlights which went perfectly with my complexion. I had to give him very minimal directions and all his suggestions were really appropriate and enhanced my features. I got a lot of compliments and a many my colleagues asked for his number. I am a regular in his Salon now! Its really great to find someone who I can trust and is very close to my work. Just wanted to mention one incident. While I was in the Salon, somebody walked in and asked Vaner if he could re-touch her highlights the next day. Vaner gave her a time. But when she asked whether Vaner thought she needed it, Vaner said "Not really. I think its fine for now". How many hair dressers you know who would do that? I started going to Vaner about 6 months ago and won't go to anyone else now! He takes such good care of me, I leave His salon feeling amazing about myself.I started going to him to maintain my red hair. I have to get it touched up every two weeks to keep it fiery red. I also have to bleach it a bit every few months. When I wanted to go from Red to purple I was a bit nervous but he totally exceeded my expectations.He recommended the Keratin treatment to make my hair smooth, shiny, repaired, and I went from having a constant struggle with my frizzy high maintenance hair to letting my hair air dry into soft, shiny, bouncy waves. I decided to try the new salon down the street from the Transamerica Pyramid and met a wonderful hairstylist, Vaner Batista. He styled my hair the first time with beautiful curls (best curls I have ever had) and after a few more style appointments trusted that he would cut my hair. He is a stylist who listens and really knows what he is doing and will continue to go to him because I absolutely love what he does to my hair. I have gone to a past stylist prior to meeting Vaner and described exactly what I wanted only to get something different. There are no recognizable salons near by and the price is very reasonable. Because of the huge turn out, there weren't enough stylists to accommodate me. Eric H. apologized and gave me his business card for a rain check. Soon enough, I scheduled a bang trim online and crossed my fingers. After looking at a few photos and discussing details, Eric got to work. His attention to detail was spot on. He took his time and I really appreciated the active conversation not just around my hair but the kind that I always imagined a hair stylist would have with their client. My son at the time was 3.5 years old . Prior to our appointment I had a discussion with Eric informing him my son is fearful of anyone trying to cut or trim his hair. Especially the sound of a buzzer. What a relief ; I finally found a hair stylist who's understanding, patients , gentle and compassionate. Eric made my son felt at ease and comfortable . Eric took his time, explained to my son what he was going to do, showed him the tools and what each one is for. My son was happy with his haircut and no longer in fear and looks forward to his next appointment with Eric and (no one else. He tells me.) Sadly we moved far away.
