Skip the gimmicks of whiskey at a hipster barber shop and go with the quality here. Since meeting Henry, my hair style has changed for the better--I get complements about it and I feel confident about myself in the office, on dates, with friends. He also keeps up with new styles, as I know he had gone to London to meet up with a stylist there and improve his own technique. I worked with Henry during the late stages of COVID and he took all precautions to ensure both he and I were safe, including earring a face mask and shield and sanitizing his tools in front of me. I literally called him Wednesday night for an on-demand appointment on Thursday morning. When he arrived I was amazed and so were others that passed by the van. We had a lot of curious people who were amazed by the van and barber shop inside that stopped and made comments about how cool the van was. It's like a luxury barber shop inside where you're the only client plus there's room for one more person if you bring someone along. The barber Notch is a pro and knows clearly how to make you look your best. Leo has been a financial district mainstay for a long time, and not working in SF regularly…read moreanymore, I hadn't been back to his store in five years. However, I recently started coming into the city once a week, and rediscovered Leo - still in the same spot, still an absolute stellar value for one of the most professional haircuts I've had in years, and a reminder of how wonderful his work was back in the pre-COVID days when I would visit more regularly. His store is nestled between other offices on Montgomery Street, but easy to find (down an escalator), far removed from the street noise and clutter. Leo works here five days a week, but I strongly suggest you make an appointment with him versus just walking in. He does have same day appointments (if you get him early enough) and is one of the most genuine business owners I've ever met (he and his wife are longtime SF residents, too). I could get my hair cut in Marin where we live, but there's no point when Leo gives me precisely the cut and style I want, every time - not like others who prefer to do their thing (or look at anyone over 50 and assume, even with a photo of my desired cut, that my hair should look a certain way).
