Total waste of time! Got scammed out of 50 bucks too. I found them through Yelp, I inquired having my TV mounted, Jason was the first to reply and gave me a quote (screenshots attached). He asked for a security deposit to secure a 10am-11am appointment for the next day. Out of good faith, I agreed and sent him an INTERAC transfer. At 1030am day of the appointment, with no sign of, nor message/call from him, I texted "where are you, what is your ETA?" No reply. I texted again at 1230noon and he replied "delayed and will arrive in one hour." By then, I had a bad feeling already. I just replied "you should update customers even with just a text if you'll be late so theyre not just waiting." So this went on and on until I had to leave for a family dinner. To be honest, had there been no downpayment, would've just canceled. Then at 3pm -he found out the TV was 85 inches (he never asked to begin with), I agreed to pay for the price difference and he said he will arrive 530pm because he needs another person. By 535pm, I asked him where he was and he said he was still in downtown, waiting for the other guy. Again, no communication whatsoever! With today's technology, this is INEXCUSABLE. Truly UNPROFESSIONAL with absolutely NO RESPECT for other people's time. I told him I was cancelling and to just return the DP, its been 24hours and he does not even have the DECENCY TO REPLY! Tldr; Cocaine is a hell of a drug. And also who the eff gave this guy his electricians license (if he even has it)? When they say "in-wall cabling" and "concealed cables" on the website, they mean it very literally. Everything was plugged into a dollar store extension cord, then electrical taped together and thrown INTO the wall alongside old insulation, and hidden with a faceplate. Pretty sure that's a fire hazard, which is why the Canadian Code and NEC specifically state extension cords should not be concealed within walls. Why not neatly bind everything with zap straps and tuck tidily behind the TV? WTF did I pay you $250 for when I apparently know more about the electrical code and basic human technology needs (such as the ability to plug in/out devices) than you do? So when I recently got a new cable box and had to return the old one...(which btw was mounted in the most ridiculous way--4 screws and gorilla tape? Hence the ripped drywall paper), I couldn't return the power adapter to shaw because it's plugged in INSIDE the f'ing wall. The guy who came with Jason seemed slightly less high on the booger sugar, but apparently not enough to stop this ridiculousness from taking place. **This company is committing fraud as of late, please be aware** My boyfriend and I recently bought our first home and we needed someone to mount our TV as we do not have the tools, knowledge or manpower for mounting onto metal studs. My boyfriend, ironically also named Jason (also the owner's name), was the one who contacted the company, called and texted the number that shows up on their google business. A guy who claimed is named Rob answered and said he'll do the job, and if we e-transfer deposit money first, he'll make it cheaper. Now my boyfriend, in good faith just e-transfer him without any sort of invoice or work order number, though in hindsight I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have mattered if we did anyway. He then asked for some sort of receipt after the transfer. Over the span of few days, the conversation was just my boyfriend repeatedly asking for a receipt, with Rob texting back saying he will send the receipt "tonight", "tomorrow", and "in 5 minutes", but the receipt was never sent. My boyfriend, still giving the guy the benefit of the doubt, texted back that he's guessing he won't be getting a receipt, it's fine if Rob shows up on time for the job and just give the receipt then, and asked Rob can we trust that he show up on the day, Rob said yes definitely. Next day, Rob didn't show up, we texted him, after a while he said sorry there was a mix up he'll come the next day instead. My boyfriend was furious as he took the day off for this, and we weren't informed until after the appointed time, they've got no respect for appointments or people's time. After losing faith in this company, my boyfriend just asked for our money back, but obviously, Rob became radio silent, not replying to texts or calls, and it's been almost a week now. I thought to give him time to refund the money before we take further action against this company, and he never answered. If you're Rob or the business owner please give us our money back. Service started out great, Jason (the technician) seemed friendly enough and wanted to ensure the tv's were placed correctly. TV's were mounted with only one small issue (one small bolt on the back of my sanus mounting bracket sheared, likely due to the washer not being used). Unfortunately this is where the professional service was limited to. Jason had to run to the car (3x) to speak with his girlfriend waiting and generally seemed in a rush. I originally was quoted to install two tv's and a soundbar. If i paid cash, I was not to be charged for the soundbar install. Jason being in a rush, noted he did not have the right parts to install the soundbar and would need to come back but promised to complete the install Monday when i returned from my trip. Monday Jason became unavailable, we re-scheduled to Tuesday at 7:00pm. Jason stood me up. We rescheduled to Wednesday morning at 7:00am and Jason stood me up again with no response. I am now in the position to get the appropriate anchors and I will need to mount the soundbar myself. Jason was paid in full in cash on the Friday. Our installer was a nice guy, but the overall service and experience wasn't great. I may have misunderstood our initial agreement, although in writing, but the install cost slightly more than agreed upon. The hidden wiring looks a little sloppy with a self drilled hole in the plate cover and not a professional plate cover for hidden wires. Noticed the face plate wasn't even straight and later noticed the tv wasn't securely attached to mount. As well on both occasions the installer didn't clean up very well, resulting in cleaning after each site visit. Noticed a number of new scratches and smudges on the new white walls. Does the mount work? Yes. But not overall impressed with the quality of work. If I could do it over again, I would pay the different for higher quality service, I feel I could have done this level of quality on my own but wanted an insured company to perform the work. read more

***READ IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THEM*** DAMAGED MY WALL, MOUNT AND ALSO GOT SCAMMED I called them on the weekend regarding to install my mount, the guy who introduced himself as "JAYSON" asked $90 Cash for the job or over ~$120 if I was paying by credit/debit card. Obviously I accepted the cash offer and he said he would be there in couple of hours. He was more than an hour late! When I called him I could clearly hear the SkyTrain's announcements and he was saying he is parking his car in my street! one of his many lies! Then later on when JASON was at my place he claimed he has been here few time already! However, my building has just finished and as I am one of few tenants there I hardly believe his statement! (another lie!) At first JAYSON seemed like a trust worthy guy who knows his job, but it didn't take long that he started his screw ups! JAYSON was not even able to find my studs in the wall! Simplest task possible! which he later stated that apparently my wall does not have studs at all! and when I asked how it's possible, he didint have any answers! He made a very big and unnecessary hole on the wall where he was thinking there is a stud but couldn't find anything! (which he could drill smaller hole, but obviously this guy has no respect for his client at all!) JAYSON was distracted from the first place! after first wrong drilling, he made the same mistake again and drilled a bit further to the left and hit a concrete column as a stud! Finally he had to leave as he said he doesn't have the right equipment with himself right now and gonna come back tomorrow and finish the job! The next day he showed up and tried to drill the concrete, but as his equipment wasn't good enough the process took quite a time for the first drilling. By miracle he managed to put one bolt into the wall, but for the second bolt The Genius decided to skip drilling to the concrete and go with a toggle bolt! which you could clearly see in the picture that my drywall could not even take the weight of my very light mount and started to crack and fall apart! Then he scammed me for $60, JAYSON claimed that he needs to go out and get the right anchors, so I paid him in cash to just finish the job ASAP (very weird that a grown man and a professional! doesn't have any money in his pocket to buy his necessary tools!). After 2! hours he came back and claimed that nowhere was open and he is gonna come back tomorrow (the 3rd day!) and finish the job! Obviously after all these mess I asked him to pay my money back but he said he has spent the money! and none is left! but he is going to E-transfer the money! I asked him to do it right now and he claimed he does not have the access to the app! (another lie of many!) He was distracted and obviously couldn't focus in all the time he was working, he seemed extremely unprofessional and had zero ethics! He even created an unnecessary hole on my bracket and destroyed it, as he drill the wall over the bracket! (bottom hole on bracket in the pictures!) Eventually I had to fire him as there were 3! unnecessary giant holes on my wall and my mount was damaged as well, I asked him multiple times to at least give my money back, as he has created a huge mess to my wall and fixing it is going to cost me over couple hundreds bucks, but got zero response from him so far! I had them wall mount a 55" tv onto the wall with an outlet relocation and hiding the wires behind the wall. For an "average job", they were in no more than 75 minutes. The best part is that the pricing is very clear- unless you request extra work, there are no "hidden fees" or any upselling of any kind. And after shopping around a bit, they likely charge the best rates for the service provided. After all was said and done, very professional work was done. Rob and his partner were very polite and cordial. They constantly cleaned up after themselves and didn't leave a mess when the job was completed. Compared to getting an electrician just for the outlet relocation, Vancity HD is just a flat-out better deal (let's just say the quote from one electrician was slightly higher than the cost of the mount and outlet relocation). This isn't a DIY outlet relocation either (think Powerbridge products)- this is a new outlet with new romex etc. After watching them work, I can safely say that there's no way I could've done it that well that quickly myself (duh on the electrical work- get a pro!). AMAZING SERVICE! I called them up for a rush job to get my tv mounted about 3hrs ago, and they were able to make it here in less than an hour and the work is already done. Jason was courteous, professional, informative, and took his shoes off at the door without even being asked (that speaks volumes in itself). He got my input for every decision, hung the tv perfectly and even tucked the cables behind the drywall with a nice fixture at ground level for easy access; the fixture is perfectly level with the existing outlets too... just sayin'. I was worried about whether or not this would cost more than originally quoted because the materials used in the building are not easy to work with, but the price was exactly as stated over the phone-- no hassle and no games. And given the difficulty of the job, it's very obvious that he's done this thousands of times. I appreciated the level of expertise, the incredible fairness of the price (especially obvious if you've shopped around, and see what the going rates for the same, or even less work, are). The pro-tips he gave me on how to use my mount-- not even a mount they provided, were well received. The TL;DR here is that I would recommend VanCityHD to anyone who needs home audio/video work, and I will absolutely be using them again in the future. WARNING: Carefully consider using this business. We had 2 TVs to replace TVs already mounted on the wall and connected to Shaw cable in our home. The man who did most of the work, Jason, bragged that he had installed more that 5,000 TVs. However, it took him more than 5 hours to do the job - and he left the job unfinished. The previous TVs were mounted without any wires being visible (they ran from the TV, through the wall and into the back of a cabinet to connect to the Shaw box. Jason could not figure out how to do the installation without a cord visible. After 5 hours, every window in the house had to be opened to get rid of the smell of stale cigarettes that followed Jason like a black cloud. Based on reviews I thought I will have a great service. He was great at coordinating a time, giving me all the information I needed, but ended up No show and when I called said he said he had accidentally double-booked. He apologized and rebooked me for later that day and then didn't show up again. He didn't call or text, hours later claimed he lost his phones and promised to come the next day, only wouldn't confirm a time or communicate when to expect him. I reminded him that I would have to take another day off and asked him to give me a time, I texted hin 3x asking me to give me a time and NADA. Didn't hear back from him till the next day saying he will be there in 2 hours (as if I have taken the day off).....You would think as a businessman if he misses his appointment 2 x the least he can do is to communicate to gain the business back. What was more frustrating is that I had taken the day off to accommodate and had everything moved for him to make the job easy. Even after he said he will be here again, I am not going to take a risk, if his communication and lack of respect is like this, I don't want to be worried about the quality of work. As a returning client, I had Jason's card and contacted him to do a wall mount He told me I would get a returning customer discount of wallmount and install if I prepaid for the service. I have never prepaid for anything via etransfer and know that I shouldn't have. He made it sound like he could accommodate my schedule if I could prepay and as I had contacted him on short notice I thought this was fair. Our appointment was for Saturday and he did not show - refused to answer phone or text - turned off my call display and he answered on Sunday saying he would be over at 1pm and of course - n0 show. Don't take your chances. This guy is just looking for free money. I'm absolutely disgusted. I have reported him to the Better Business Bureau and I really hope he is stopped. The 2 contractors that did the job were really nice even though as professionals they should have known how high above a fireplace they can mount anything. I had to hire another company to come back and fix what they did and the wiring. The real issue is the quote was twice the price as advertised on their website which reluctantly I went along with, however the final invoice emailed to me by the owner Rob was double the quoted price with no additional work done! Two days before the appointment I E-mailed to confirm the services, time and address. I did not hear back so I texted him again 1 day before. He responded by letting me know he had booked an install in a different location for the same time. I can only presume the other install was more lucrative (as I had booked basic services). Why offer a basic install service and appointment times if you don't plan to even show up? Beware of the poor business acumen and tactics this business possesses. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I'm shocked at all the great reviews they're getting. Rob SCREAMED at his employee constantly while he was at my place in Vancouver even though I told him it wasn't acceptable to act that way in my house. His employee, the one who was being yelled at, kept apologizing to me for Rob's behaviour when Rob was out of earshot. Then Rob up-charged me for "Basic" when I asked for "Economy" (I had a licensed electrician coming). He screamed at me that there is no such thing as an "Economy" package because hiding wiring is what he does and refused to see it when I tried to show him his own website on my cell phone (http://www.vancityhd.com/economy.html). They shouldn't offer a "economy" package if they don't want their customers to choose it!! And he ruined my wall. I would have been very upset if I weren't already planning on repainting that wall. In fact, seeing how distracted he seemed, I kept reminding him over and over to please leave the wiring alone (e.g. he tried to tie together the wires, and I reminded again he didn't need to do that, but he went ahead and did it not even 2 seconds later, and he yelped and snapped off in a huff when I reminded him he didn't need to do that). But he glued the wire hiding tube to my wall anyway, which ruined the wall. He yelled about (not "at me") how I was being cheap (I did explain I had a licensed electrician coming) and threw a tantrum as though I ruined his wall. It was so extremely unpleasant that I basically had to ask them to please pack up and leave, declining their offer to clean up the work area, and I paid immediately and exactly what he asked ($50 more than the service I asked for). I gave him some time to cool down (in case he was having a bad day that day - though still not excusable to be screaming around like that) then contacted him to see what he might do about replacing the mount (it was verbally agreed on prior to the job). He outright refused to help. I didn't post this review from my normal account because, from what I've seen of him, he will come out on a personal attack on me using the most cruel words OR outright refuse this ever happened. In fact, they screened my calls when they missed both a scheduled appointment and a commitment to call back "in 15 minutes". Really disgraceful. We used Jason last year and he did a great job. We called him back for another job this year which he started but did not complete. (To be fair, he does good work WHEN he works.) For our recent job, the couple times he was here he hours late each time - fortunately I have some flexibility in my work schedule so it wasn't a very big deal for me but for others, this won't be the case. He had different excuses for being late such as; he lost his phone, his gps wasn't working and got lost etc. When he was here he would leave for extended "smoke breaks" of up to 30 minutes at a time. He was supposed to come back a third time to finish the job with a part he needed. He asked us to EFT him $100 for this part which was only $50 in store. He said he needed the money right away or he wouldn't be able to pick up the part as he didn't have money for it. He even went silent for 4 days after accepting our $100 because a "Family Emergency" had come up. After resurfacing from this "emergency", he no showed 3 separate times which we had schedueld for him to come back and finish the job. Not once did he inform us he couldn't make an appointment or that he would be late, he simply wouldn't show up at all. We have been more than accommodating and understanding with Jason however we've had enough. This review it to warn anybody else looking for this type of service of the risks of hiring Jason as your installer. Better to go with an installer from a larger more reputable company such as Geek Squad or Visions. We now have to buy the part which we already paid Jason for and hire another installer to come back and finish the job he started 2 weeks which has been sitting half completed. Jason, if you read this you should do the right thing and return our $100. read more
